Chapter 12: It Starts
As the school bell rang, signaling the start of class, students began to file into the classroom.
Among them was Itsuka Shido, who sat in his chair deep in thought about his conversation with Kotori.
"As you can see, bro, you're going to be on a date with Hikaru after four days from now. Also, keep in mind that she will start attending the same class as you. Take this opportunity to make her fall for you so the date would be the last bullet," Kotori explained.
"I understand."
"Good. You know how she lost control last time. The fail is not an option," Kotori confirmed. This time, Shido didn't say anything, but his eyes told everything.
"That's a good look in your eyes," Kotori noted.
"By the way, what's with Hikaru suddenly calling Tohka Nee-san?"
"Oh, that. Well, we gave her the same last name as Tohka so she could enter the school, and it seems she loved it and started to see Tohka as her sister," Kotori answered.
"I see."
Shido just sighed. "I hope Tohka doesn't say something stupid. If the boys in my class know that I lived with two beautiful women, they're going to kill me."
"Okay, class, let's start our lesson, but before that..." the teacher said as she entered the room with a big smile on her face.
The whole class focused their attention on the teacher, who seemed to have some news.
"We have some transfer students. I hope you guys treat them well and help them when they are in need."
The whole class started to whisper among themselves all kinds of questions.
Who!
boy or girl
And it goes on...
'Here we go,' Shido thought.
"All right, you can come now," the teacher said as the class door opened, revealing the transformed students.
Three beautiful girls appeared. The first one had very long, dark purple hair in the same shade as the color of the night. She partially tied it back into a ponytail with a ribbon while still letting much of her hair fall to her knees. Her dark purple eyes were described as crystal-like and had a golden tint.
The second one appeared to be elegant and had very polite manners. She had pearly skin and long, black hair usually tied in long twin tails. Her right eye was red-tinted while her left eye appeared as a golden, inorganic clock face, which was covered by her bangs.
And the last one was no less beautiful. She had long black hair as dark as the night, and her eyes shone as if they were made of gold itself. Her features appeared to be simple, but that simplicity is what made her more beautiful.
The boys in the class (except Shido) all shouted in joy as they found that their class had three beautiful girls at the same time.
"Okay, boys, you can stop now. Let the newcomers introduce themselves."
Upon hearing the teacher's words, the class went silent, waiting for the girls to introduce themselves.
"Good. Now, Tohka-san, you can start first."
'Please, Tohka, please don't destroy my future,' Shido prayed to himself.
"Umu, well first, my name is Tohka Yatogami," she said and stopped.
The whole class was waiting for Tohka to speak more, but she didn't. The atmosphere started to be awkward.
'Well, that's a bad start, but not as bad as I expected,' Shido thought as he let out his breath.
"Teacher, can I start my introduction?" Hikaru spoke, breaking the awkward atmosphere.
"Oh! Yeah, of course, Hikaru-san, you can start now," the teacher said.
"Good." Hikaru turned her gaze toward the class. "My name is Hikaru Yatogami, as you can see, Tohka is my sister, so you better treat her well, I'm what else...." she put her finger on her cheek, thinking what add more, "Oh right my hobby. Well, I don't have any at the moment, but I want to mention that I love eating. So, if you didn't find your lunch, there's an 80% chance that it's already in my stomach. And thank you." She finished as she bowed her head slightly.
No one said anything, or in better explanation, no one knew what to say.
"That's a new way to introduce yourself," the teacher chuckled awkwardly. "Kurumi-san, you can start now."
Kurumi wrote her name on the blackboard. "My name is Tokisaki Kurumi," she said, smiling. This time the whole class shouted, especially the boys.
"I did the same, but their reaction was different," Tohka said, confused.
"It's a talent, Nee-san, don't worry about it," Hikaru said.
"I am a spirit."
"...!"
The class didn't pay much attention to what she said, but for Shido, Origami, Tohka, and Hikaru, it was another story.
"Um... okay! Thank you for that unique self-introduction. Now, let me find you a seat," the teacher said.
"Before you do, may I mention something?" Kurumi asked.
"What is it?"
"I am still unfamiliar with this school. If someone wouldn't mind showing me around the school grounds after school, I would be most appreciative," she finished.
One of the boys raised his arm. "I can do it."
"No, thank you," she declined quickly.
'Ouch, that would leave a scar,' Hikaru thought.
Kurumi started to move towards a certain boy. "Could I ask you to do it?" she said as she stood in front of Shido.
Shido was surprised by the sudden request. "Huh? M-Me?"
Tohka was now burning with anger. She was about to approach the girl but got stopped as she felt Hikaru's arm on her shoulder. "That would be dangerous. If what she said about being a spirit was right, using the violent solution would not end up well. Let's leave it to Shido while watching her moves," Hikaru said.
'there also something weird about her' hikaru thought
Tohka calmed down and nodded to her.
"Good." Hikaru turned her gaze to the teacher. "Can you please show us our seats?"
"Of course, let's see," the teacher said as she searched for the available seats. "There are two seats empty beside Shido-san, and one is in the second row on the left."
"Good, Nii-san, you can take the seat beside Shido, and I think you want the other seat, right?" Hikaru said, glancing at Kurumi.
"That would be a yes if you excuse me," Kurumi said as she smiled at her.
"Understood, I am going with the last available seat."
The class lesson continued without anything special, except for the boys. They were grinding their teeth in jealousy because of Shido.
The school bell rang, signifying the end of the class.
Shido pulled out his device and began to converse with Kotori.
"We've confirmed it ourselves too. I can't believe she is a spirit," kotori said.
"So what should I do? Should I focus on getting close to Hikaru or the new spirit?" shido replied.
"i swear Every time we tried to focus on Hikaru, something comes and ruins it," Kotori sighed.
"For now, try to get to know the new spirit. You still have your chance with Hikaru at the end of the week. Just try to make the newcomer fall for you before your date with Hikaru," kotori advised.
"Shido-san!" Kurumi interrupted, getting Shido's attention. "Thank you for agreeing to show me around."
"N-no problem," Shido stuttered, surprised by Kurumi's sudden appearance.
As Shido was about to leave with Kurumi for the tour, someone approached them.
"Hikaru?" Shido said, confused.
"Boy! Can you loan Tokisaki-san to me for a moment? I have something to discuss with her," Hikaru asked.
"Oh! No problem with me," Shido replied, taken aback by Hikaru's unexpected request.
Hikaru then turned her gaze to Kurumi. "I would expect you don't have any problem with that?"
"Not at all," Kurumi replied, her smile still intact.
"Good," Hikaru finished.
Both she and Kurumi left the classroom and went to a less-crowded area. The place they chose was down a staircase at the end of the hallway.
"So? What do you want to discuss?" Kurumi asked.
"You said you're a spirit, right?" Hikaru inquired.
"Yes, I did," Kurumi answered without hesitation.
"Does your angel have anything to do with age manipulation?" Hikaru asked.
Kurumi was surprised by Hikaru's question. "Oh! What makes you think that?".
"You're younger by 38 days from the day we met at the library," Hikaru stated.
"hmmmmmm is that so? Can I ask when we met?" Kurumi asked.
Hikaru was somehow confused by Kurumi's question. "That would be 3 days ago. Why?".
"Well, you see, Hikaru-san, I remember going to the library 3 days ago for sure, but I don't remember meeting you. This is my first time seeing you... That's weird. You seem to know Shido-san, but I didn't see you with him nor close to him before," Kurumi finished, her tone becoming more serious.
"What? What do you mean?" Hikaru was even more perplexed now.
"Anyway, Hikaru-san, I still have something to do with Shido-san, Meeting you was interesting. We can talk more later," Kurumi finished, turned her back, and left.
"W-wait yo-" Hikaru tried to follow her, but Kurumi was nowhere to be found.
"You didn't answer my first question..." she muttered.
...
Hikaru walked back to the classroom lost in thought about her conversation with Kurumi.
'I am really stupid for thinking that she would tell me about her angel abilities but still,' she murmured, placing her hand on her cheek. "Is there any reason for her to deny the fact we did meet in the library?"
Hikaru's thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a familiar face.
"Damn, three girls trying to get their way with him at the same time, what a beast," she blurted out, unaware that she had spoken out loud.
"Hikaru?" Shido said, surprised to see her.
"Are you some kind of girl's magnet or what? Boy, let the other boys get a chance," she said, giggling at him.
Shido was at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond.
"ARA~ girls magnet? Does that include you, Hikaru-san?" Kurumi chimed in, a smug expression on her face.
"Oh, Tokisaki-san, do you want me to hurt the boy's feelings that badly?" Hikaru retorted, equally smug.
'Wait, what did she mean by that?' he wondered.
"Wow, look at that lover's spat!" someone exclaimed loudly.
Shido turned around to see three girls from his class whispering loudly amongst themselves.
"Itsuka-kun even has his hands on the girls just transferred here?!" one of them said incredulously.
"He's such a player!" another added.
"Gross," the third muttered.
"what did i do to deserve this", he cried.
...
As the school day drew to a close, Shido finished showing Kurumi around.
"Thank you for showing me around. I truly am grateful, Shido-san," Kurumi expressed, inching closer to him. "Though I wish I could've been alone with you," she whispered into his ear.
Shido chuckled awkwardly, not knowing how to respond. Kurumi then shifted her gaze towards Hikaru. "I believe this won't be our last meeting, Hikaru-san," she commented.
"Yeah, I believe so too. It seems karma knows when to shoot," Hikaru replied.
"Alright. If you'll excuse me, I'll be off now," Kurumi said as she walked away.
Shido looked around, "Huh? Where did Origami go?"
"I don't know. She disappeared at some point," Tohka responded.
(pov-switch: Kurumi)
As Kurumi walked away, she was jumping with joy, whispering some weird noises to herself.
She stopped when she realized what she was doing. "ARA~ I should be more patient. I'm saving the fun for" Her sentence was interrupted when a random guy bumped into her.
"ARA~ I'm sorry about that," Kurumi apologized.
The guy's friend then appeared, surrounding Kurumi. "Hey, hold on, little lady. An apology's not gonna cut it," the guy said.
Then they started to flirt with her.
"ARA~ARA~ Could it be that you want to get it on with me?" Kurumi teased.
"Get it on? Damn, she's forward!" one of them exclaimed.
"Are you into that kinda thing?" another asked.
"Well, as much as anybody else. Other people can see us here," Kurumi finished as she lured them into an empty alleyway.
However, she stopped before entering.
"Huh? What did you stop suddenly?" one of the guys questioned.
"??" Kurumi said,
"HUH?" the gang was confused. Turning to where Kurumi was looking. They saw another girl, identical to the one with them.
"What is that? Is she your twin or something?" one of the guys asked.
"And why does she wear those clothes? Cosplay?" another questioned.
Kurumi tried to leave the boys so she could approach her clone.
"Hey, where do you think you-" The guy didn't have a chance to finish his sentence as his head exploded.
"Wh-Wh-What the hell is that?" one of the guys shouted in fear as they tried to run.
However, they found a bullet in their hearts, killing them instantly.
"! What are you doing here?"
"I came here to make sure of something... You met someone in school by the name of Hikaru, right?"
"Yes, I did. What about it?"
"You don't remember meeting her before, right?"
"No, I don't,"
"Hmmm, I see,"
"! What is the meaning of this? What with this spirit that makes you come all the way here?"
"You see, it seems we have an imposter,"
