Chapter 3:

There is this thing in the kitchen that feels out of place, besides the counter there is a freezer. It uses a blue crystal, probably a freeze spell is put into a box through this crystal to make sure the ingredients for cooking don't become bad fast.

Anyways putting that aside now I am at the market, it's so lively out here. There's lot of vendors selling ingredients I am very interested in. Conveniently, the ingredients named here and my original world are the same. So I quickly do a mass purchase with a total cost of 3 gold coins (I left with 4 gold coins left), between those purchases I go back and forth from my dorms to the market because my hands and shoulders can't fit more bags.

I dropped my last bag and put it in the freezer. I decided now it's time to go to the Adventure Guild main branch just straight on the main road from the academy.

As I opened the big door of the building…

Huh the adventure guild lobby is in a mess, tables and chairs are everywhere, some even flipped.

“...” I continued walking to the receptionist counter while looking around the place.

As I keep moving forward the emptiness of this place is weird. Just as I got closer to the counter a woman came out of the door behind the receptionist counter.

“ah… welcome to Adventure guild main branch, is there anything you need help with?” The lady that looked tired when coming out from that door suddenly was wearing a work face.

“What happened here?” a genuine question I come out with.

“ah… it's a victory celebration, a guild member beat the orc horde and a bit went wild when drunk yesterday” she had a pained expression.

a… bit? This is only a bit? Crazy…

“I want to apply to be an adventurer but… I don't know anymore…”

“ahhahaha… I know why you're hesitant but trust me, they are dependable and kind in heart. What do you need for coming here, young lady from the academy?”

“... applying for becoming adventure to gain pocket money”

“hmmm…”

“Is that not allowed?”

“It isn't that not allowed, it's just that the only one available right now that can test your skill for passing or not is the–” before she stopped talking so suddenly as a shadow overlapped me.

“YO! I'M BACK FROM HUNTING!” so loud that the woman's sentences were cutted and covered by the old man's voice.

Turning my head to my back and finding my vision is filled with a head of a big bear (5 times the size of a brown bear for comparison) bloodied right in front of me makes me dash in instinct and hit the receptionist counter in the split millisecond.

“Guild leader, you're too loud! How many times I said to tone it down”

“Ahahahaha! Sorry lads, I'm just that excited and full of energy! So what is this? A new person in town wants to join?”

“She thinking about it—”

Before I knew it, I was dragged to the training ground to duel him…

“No need to think, just fight like your life depends on it. Becoming an adventurer or not is not a problem, but surviving in this world is. So fight me with all you got because I will do my best as well, show me your strength”

Guild master is right, if I want to survive and beat that demon I need to get stronger, stronger than the demon itself.

He dashed to me so fast that if my instincts didn't tell me to dodge I was surely gonna die!, also what is that yellow fire on his fist?! That exactly looks like the color of the sun!

But as this goes on, I am slowly able to pick the tempo of how I will survive. These feelings I got, standing on the edge of the death door surviving the attack, the thrill, the dopamine of standing on it! OH HOW ECSTATIC! MORE! MORE! GIVE ME MORE!

“You've been defensive this whole time, aren't you gonna attack at all young lady? We didn't have the whole morning to ourselves, you need to attend the academy right?”

“huh?” It kicked me into reality.

Oh yeah the academy sparring this morning, it's gonna start…. in 10 minutes?! No! I don't wanna be late into it!

“Huh young lady, what's wrong! You stopped moving!”

A punch, straight punch coming at me, if I redirect it just bit down and make sure he loses footing I win and not gonna be late.

Ok here's he comes.

Redirect.

Success.

Lose footing.

Failed.

Kick his legs.

Success.

He fall.

Facepalm to the dirt.

With 9 minutes left, I didn't have time to see the results. I need to get back soon, the distance is 10 minutes, if I take a shortcut… there is no shortcut, then… do it with pure speed.

Somehow I made it in time just to change my clothes to school uniform and slip into the crowd of other students, without nobody noticing. I am probably so worn out by now I even hear my own heartbeat, but thankfully I had no sweat or tired face whatsoever, what a perfect emotionless face. I wonder why I am reincarnated into this world anyway? Is there a reasonable amount of ugh forgot about it, focus on the sparring for now.

I look around to see familiar people, almost all here. Why did I say almost? There is this one girl who is always late to class each time. There is one girl I didn't have time to look at during the entrance test because she is a transfer student from another big academy. Ozark Academy, the most big name commoner turned knight comes from that academy. There was also another big academy called Elsinore Academy, they were big because they were supported by a lot of high nobles and they also teached all those nobles needed. These three big Academies are full of rivalries and each semester they compete against each other in big Academy events.

“I'm sorry I am late! hah.. hah.. hah..” she catches her breath slowly as she comes to a stop beside Mr Yuu.

“Everyone! Meet our transfer student! So introduce yourself!” 

“Hi everyone, my name is Okada Kei. I'm very grateful to been accepted to this academy, I hope I will learn lots with you'll”

Okade Kei, her hair color is brown with a bit of hidden red. She likes to keep her hair short for ease of movement when using a sword. While she didn't have an element she is strong, hella strong in the late game after she goes through a traumatic event. Well she is already strong enough right now.

“Good spirits! Now then. I'm gonna pick randomly to duel each other while the rest will watch before their turns”

So the sparring session between classmates started, coincidentally or rigged by Mr Yuu all the not so important characters went first.

Few spar later~

Somehow their spars are really amazing, my heart is pumped looking at those precision. While some use magic and sword there are also few people using both called magic swordmaster, I saw two of them fighting against each other just a few matches earlier. The use of flame magic as distraction as he comes closer while the other uses wind magic as a homing arrow while both keep moving and clashing swords are awesome. But this upcoming spar is something else, Matsubara Mari against Sakaguchi Mayumi. Fire against Wind, will it become a bigger fire or will the fire be put out? I'm interested in this spar.

Matsubara Mari, I'm gonna call her Mari for now. I forgot to mention this but she had twin twirl style hair. She was a noble and was also taught the way of rapier by a private mentor from the capital city by the request of her father. Which means she is going for trust using the rapier right off the bat, infusing her rapier with a fire. While Sakaguchi Mayumi, I'm gonna call her Mayumi for now. She uses a bow, which normally people with a bow are gonna keep distancing with their enemies, but she is different and the bow is unique as well. The heirloom of the Mayumi family is the bow of bravery, this bow made by special material infused with metal. The bow is really heavy for people who don't deserve to carry it, but become light for the chosen. And because of its special material of dragon scale, the style Sakaguchi Mayumi developed by herself is close range fight, moving her body with the help of the wind blocking air resistance making her move faster.

The rapier thrust was redirected down by the bow as Mayumi set her arrow while airborne just above Mari. Released the arrow just as she was straight above Mari, Mari seeing the nock of the arrow not in Mayumi hand moved to the side and redirected the arrow just a bit to the opposite direction where she went.

“What a lowly trick you pulled~”

“What a funny word from someone who being dotted by her father”

“You! I will bring you down for bringing my father into this!”

“Uhuhu scary~”

And so the barter continue insulting each other as they keep exchanging attacks until the spar somehow ends in a draw. Oh yeah apparently Kei (Okada Kei) and Hikari (Fujita Hikari) started their own sparring on the field not the arena while this was going because both said they were bored of waiting and Mr Yuu just allowed it, Hikari won by the way.

So… the only person left is Dumbass and me… I'm doomed to lose aren't I…
