Chapter 131: Something That Changes

“Now that we’ve finished talking, I suppose it’s about time for me to take my leave.”

Hisui said that to us.

“Then I’ll walk you home.”

It was already late enough that good children should be in bed.

There weren’t many streetlights on the road to the shrine, so it would be dangerous for a woman to walk alone.

“Rejected. If you walk her home, you’ll be walking back alone, won’t you? …I’ll walk Hisui-chan home.”

“But I can fend off anyone who tries to attack me…”

“This is a matter of risk management. If you create a situation where it looks easy to attack, you’re more likely to invite unnecessary trouble. It’s a problem that you’re still not fully aware of that.”

“Ugh…”

That was completely on point, and I had no rebuttal at all.

Seeing me like that, Hisui smiled slightly and replied.

“Thank you for your concern. But it’s fine—I’ve already called for someone to pick me up.”

Pick-up…? As I was wondering about that, the intercom rang.

“Looks like they’ve just arrived.”

When we checked the monitor-type intercom, it showed Souta standing there.

“Okay, coming!”

Mom answered and seemed to be letting Souta in.

“Oh right. Since we have this chance, why don’t we explain things to Souta here and get his agreement to cooperate?”

“W-wait a second, Hisui!?”

Even if we were going to persuade him, wasn’t this situation way too intense?

Being asked by his own little sister, in front of my family, to get together with me—this was beyond awkward.

Please… spare him… Men’s hearts are fragile, you know.

“This is about me, so I’ll persuade him myself. It’s harder to talk about it in front of everyone, so I’ll go to my room with Souta.”

“…Alright.”

Hisui readily agreed to my suggestion.

Though honestly, she didn’t seem all that invested in convincing Souta.

“Hey, Alice?”

Yuna timidly called out to me.

“…What?”

“Um… are you going to… you know… do it with Souta-nii? If you are, I’ll… um… get myself mentally prepared…”

She asked, blushing furiously and completely flustered.

“W-we’re not doing anything like that!?”

Even if Souta agreed, there were still so many things to think about. Besides, with family and Yuna downstairs—doing something in that situation was… and wait, what kind of mental preparation is Yuna even talking about!?

“Good eveni—huh?”

At that moment, the living room door opened and Souta came in.

He looked at us, frozen in place, his eyes wide in confusion.

“Uh… what’s going on…?”

“Souta, come with me.”

I jumped out of my chair, grabbed Souta’s hand, and escaped from the living room. His hand felt cold and firm.

“W-wait, what’s going on!?”

I dragged Souta along without giving him a chance to object.

Without a word, I pulled him along forcefully.

Though confused, Souta didn’t resist and quietly followed me.

I took him up the stairs from the hallway and opened the door to my room, leading him inside.

After I closed the door, I finally let out a small sigh of relief.

“…Are you okay?”

I heard Souta’s concerned voice from behind me.

“I-I’m fine! It’s nothing…”

I replied while still facing the door.

“If you say so… um…”

“…What is it?”

I turned around to look up at Souta.

Even though it was spring, the nights were still chilly.

Souta’s cheeks were red.

“…Um… your hand…”

Come to think of it, I’d been holding Souta’s hand the whole time.

“Hm…? Oh, sorry.”

I let go of Souta’s hand, walked further into the room, and then flopped face-first onto the bed.

“Ahhh…”

Seriously…

Just thinking about what I was about to ask made me feel heavy inside.

While I was running through how I should start explaining things, I suddenly noticed something off. When I turned around, Souta was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.

“…Why are you just standing there? Is it because it’s been a while since you’ve been in my room or something?”

“Well… to be honest, I’m kinda confused. I mean, this was always Ikuto’s room, so it makes sense you’re using it, but…”

“You still don’t believe I’m Ikuto?”

“No, it’s not that… It’s just… I’ve been in Ikuto’s room countless times. The furniture’s all familiar… but now it’s, well… a girl’s room.”

“Hmm? …Really?”

I absentmindedly hugged a dolphin-shaped body pillow that caught my eye as I spoke. I didn’t think it had changed that much…

“There are cute little things and stuffed animals… plus, there’s a girl’s uniform hanging on the wall… and, uh… more than anything… it smells really nice.”

“HUH!?”

What the hell’s he saying!?

Is he some kind of pervert!?

…Oh, wait. He is a pervert.

Back when I was a guy, we used to talk about our kinks all the time, so I knew exactly what he was like in that regard.

“…You better be careful. I don’t mind, but if you say something like that in another girl’s room, you’re definitely gonna freak her out.”

“I wouldn’t say it to anyone but you.”

“Well, whatever… just sit on the bed like always. You’re tall, so it’s annoying to have to keep looking up at you.”

“O-oh… right…”

Souta sat down on the bed hesitantly.

I sat up and settled down next to him.

Even though I was the one who invited him, I couldn’t help but get weirdly self-conscious… but considering what I was about to ask, it couldn’t be helped.

“…You look way better than I expected. I’m glad.”

Souta looked down at me and muttered with a relieved tone.

“Ah…”

Come to think of it, all Souta knew was that I had my last date with Alicia today.

Seeing me healthy enough to have a normal conversation must’ve come as a surprise.

If Hisui hadn’t told me there was a way to save Alicia, I’d probably still be curled up in my room by myself, so it wasn’t an unreasonable reaction.

There was a reason I could stay calm like this now.

“Actually… um… we might’ve found a way to save Alicia.”

“Really!? That’s great!”

Souta looked genuinely happy, like it was his own problem.

“And… about that… there’s something I need your help with…”

“What is it? Sure, if it’s something I can do, I’ll help with anything.”

“To save Alicia… I have to get pregnant and transfer Alicia’s soul into the fetus to give birth to her.”

“…Huh?”

“So, Souta. Would you let me use your sperm?”

“Y-yeah…? You mean like, IVF or something?”

“No… it seems that’s not possible. So, um…”

I tried to say it calmly, but the right word got stuck in my throat. Once I hesitated, it got even harder to explain.

Seeing my awkwardness, Souta blushed deeply and fell silent.

“D-don’t get the wrong idea! This is a life-saving act. It’s like mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!”

“W-well, even if you say that…”

Now that I thought about it more clearly, that might’ve sounded a bit rude to Souta. Even if it’s just about the seed, saying it so bluntly probably didn’t feel great.

“In exchange, you can do whatever you want.”

“W-whatever…?”

“Or is it really no good? Even though I look like a girl, I’m still me inside…”

“…That’s fine.”

“I-is that so…”

You’re willing to do it.

…It’s complicated, but at this point, I’m grateful.

“Actually, aren’t you the one who’s not okay? It’s not the same as a guy’s first time. And giving birth…”

“Yeah… but I’m okay. If it means I can see Alicia again, this much doesn’t matter.”

“You…”

“Also, don’t worry about recognition or anything. Hisui said she’ll take responsibility and marry me.”

“M-married!? Why would it come to that!?”

I don’t really know either, but…

“Or… is it because you have someone you like, so it’s no good?”

“W-why do you know that!?”

“Shuzuka told me. You dumped her, right? What a waste… Also, you’ve been distant. If you had a girl like that, you could’ve talked to me…”

“I-I can’t…”

“Well, I get you have your reasons. But if that’s the case, I won’t force you… Sorry for the weird request.”

“What if I say no? You’ll just give up?”

“No… I’d probably have to find some stranger instead.”

“Huh!? What the hell are you thinking!?”

“…It can’t be helped. There’s no other way.”

“Damn it… fine! I’ll help you. But don’t even think about finding some stranger!”

“Aren’t you forcing yourself…?”

“Who’s forcing who!? Don’t worry about me. I’m not some pure virgin you’re sacrificing. I’ve always wanted to lose my virginity if I could. We’ve talked about that, haven’t we?”

“…Yeah, I guess.”

I remembered those old talks with Souta.

We used to joke about how awesome it’d be if some neighbor lady seduced us into a casual, no-strings fling…

“See? I’m only gaining here. So worry about yourself, not me…”

That brusque way of speaking was probably Souta’s way of not making me feel bad.

“…Thanks, Souta.”

And so, I decided to lean on his kindness.

…Honestly, the thought of being with some stranger scared me.
