Vol 3: Chapter 8: The Will of the Two is in Your Hearts
The Atonement of the Guilty
The Will of the Two is in Your Hearts
Gahahahaha! I said it. I pulled off the greatest saintly move!
When I declared that I would let Aria join my party, Aleph's face visibly distorted... Do you really hate traveling with Aria that much?
If so, then it was the best present I could give you as an affront. I just saved Aria when she had nowhere to go, so you have no right to complain, right?
Now I'll have a special seat at the hostile atmosphere between Aria and Aleph during the trip. Well, I don't think it'll come to any harm on my side.
On the contrary, I'll have owed Aria a lot of favors, so I'll let her do her best to protect me. I'm really a bundle of kindness.
"C-Chris? Are those words true? Can I go with you? Do I really have the qualifications to do that...?"
Aria asks the most ridiculous questions, but honestly, her shaky, tearful voice is annoying.
Stop acting like a tragic heroine, you damn ugly bitch. I, the ultimate beauty, should be the only one who is weak, tragic, and cute.
I dealt with the annoying Aria with a tensed facial expression so that she wouldn't realise my feelings.
Then, with the face of a saint filled with compassion, I approaches Aria, who is looking down, and gently embraces her.
"I don't think you need any qualifications to atone for your sins (and those big boobs are just a nuisance so I don't need them either... anyone with bigger boobs than me should just die)."
"Chris... I, I... can I go with you? Is it okay for someone like me... to be saved?"
“Nee-san is going with me to save a lot of people. So, it’s fine if she gets saved, right? (Save a lot of people to earn my reputation, okay? All the credit goes to me, right? It’s not like we’ll split it 50/50 or anything.)”
"Thank you, Chris...thanks so much...!"
Aria hugged me back. You're too strong, you idiot. I'm weak, so be gentle.
Don't touch me without asking first. I can touch you, but you have to ask me first, right? You have no common sense...
More importantly, in order to recruit Aria... there is a path that cannot be avoided. I'm looking forward to it though, you know? Hehe.
“…Um, Aleph. I’m sorry. I ignored your feelings and made the decision on my own… (If you’re my dog, you wouldn’t go against my decision, right?)”
I made an apologetic face at the Aleph guy and spoke in a sad voice. You can't resist me when I treats you like this, can you? Hehehehe.
………Eh, No? Just say YES, you damn hero! Don't keep me waiting.
While I was internally furious and trying to put on an apologetic expression, Aleph finally spoke.
"No, it's fine, Chris. Actually... I was actually thinking of saying the same thing to Aria."
"...Eh? Ah, Aleph...? You don't hate me...?"
Somehow, a strange and interesting event started and my anger quickly subsided. Good job, Aleph. What a nice surprise! But, his face was shaking and it was funny.
"I... I'd be lying if I said I don't hate you. Your power as a sword saint is necessary for Chris and me, you see. So, Aria, please come with us."
Aleph muttered with a really bitter look on his face. There's no one who's so obvious about how much he's pushing himself.
"Ah, Aleph... Aleph. Ah, ah, you want to go with me... No way, is this a dream? This is just a dream, right?... I, after what I did, there's no way I could be told something this happy..."
Aria, with her happy head, begins crying and muttering to herself. She doesn't even notice Aleph's obvious displeased expression... What a dumb girl.
But isn't she crying too much? Lily's brat died and Finne went crazy ... What a piece of trash.
During our journey, we saw many people being killed by the Demon King's army! We don't have time to be depressed because someone died!!!
Well, I don't really care who dies, or how many people die... If too many people die, there won't be anyone left to praise me.
Only when the fools praise me can they say they have done their job properly. If you are going to die, at least spread the word about Christina, the Saint of Devotion first!
Oops, I better follow up soon. Aleph, stop hanging around and accept Aria for me.
"Nee-san, please stop crying... It's causing trouble for both Aleph and me. If you are going on a journey to save the world, you can't go crying... So nee-san, please smile. Can you show me your smile? (A messy face with tears and snot has become the default for this girl.)"
"Chris... but I... am I the only one who should be saved? I did the same thing as Finne-san and... Lily-chan, so why should I be the only one to be saved like this..."
Ahhhhhhh!! This is so annoying! What's with this filthy bitch? She's been whining like this since the beginning! Just because one brat died, what's the big deal with all this?! Shut up, you idiot.
“Nee-san… Lily-chan and Finne-san… are here (let’s just say something appropriate and get them back on their feet quickly).”
"Eh? Chris? What do you mean?"
“Lily-chan and Finne-san’s hearts, and wills! are with Nee-san. I understand that. The two of them are... certainly in Nee-san’s heart. So, you know? Why don’t you take them with you...? (Now, if I turn on my tear ducts and let the tears flow, that should do the trick.)”
I instantly took control of my tear ducts and cried a lot of hot tears as I gazed at Aria.
Aria... she looks like she really believes it. Pfft... there's no way a dead person can go with you, you idiot. How naive.
Moreover, Finne isn't even dead...Is this bitch okay?
"Chris! I...! I'm going.... I'll take both of their hearts with me....I'll do my best to save many people....! I'll work hard so that one day, all three of us can go to heaven!"
“Yes, Nee-san… let’s do our best together… I’m sure that’s what Finne-san and Lily-chan both want too (though I don’t know).
"Yes... yes! Thank you, Chris. Thanks to you and Chris in my heart, I can do my best again..."
I'm satisfied to see that stupid Aria has finally got her motivation switch turned on, but more than anything, it makes me feel tired...
Now I have to take care of the aftercare too...am I a manager?
"Aleph. Etto, about Nee-san... I'm really sorry (please forgive me in a second. It should never have been my fault.)"
"Chris, you don't need to apologize. I needed Aria's strength too...it's true. Chris...there's absolutely no need for you to worry. So don't look at me like that."
"...Thank you, Aleph (What a good dog)."
I force a smile out of my depressed face and smile at Aleph...
I feel like I'm going to die from overwork.
I was the one who started it, so why do I get tired every time?
Maybe something went wrong?
Anyway, this should be enough for Aleph's mental health. Anything more than this would be impossible without charging extra.
This time, I gained another servant, so there was some harvest...or so I thought.
"Onee-chan... can I go over there now?"
Ah... I forgot about Reno.
It's a pain... But I have to do one more job.
So, I was feeling fed up, but... I put on a loving smile and introduced Reno to Aria.
Reno looked at Aria with a look of complete indifference on her face.
I know I shouldn't say this, but you really have a bad attitude...
The two of them were used as scapegoats.
