Chapter 301: Why Are You Sneaking Around for a Lucky Draw?

Chapter 301: Why Are You Sneaking Around for a Lucky Draw?

Pei Qian happily put away the 100,000 yuan, then placed the trophy and certificate into the office cabinet, feeling much better inside.

He had finally vented his frustrations!

Of course, Pei Qian didn’t forget to instruct Assistant Xin to reimburse their return flight tickets. The amount wasn’t much, but as the saying goes: even a mosquito meat is still meat. This expense absolutely must not be omitted.

Now that the official interview team had been sent off, he could finally calm down and focus on spending money properly.

Today was October 24th, the official beginning of the week-long 1024 Digital Festival!

Since they had already done a period of promotional warm-up, the event immediately gained huge attention the moment it began.

First was Moyu Delivery.

During the event, Moyu Delivery’s dishes were discounted, and delivery fees waived. In other words, the more they sold, the more they lost.

Starting early in the morning, a flood of new and returning users opened the Moyu Delivery app to order food. The chefs in several Moyu Internet Cafés’ kitchens had never been this busy—dishes were flying out nonstop.

The completed dishes were placed into premium containers, then stored in thermal boxes, and the waiting delivery riders immediately hopped onto their e-bikes, buzzing around like hardworking bees to deliver meals to customers’ doors.

Of course, the staff responsible for receiving returned meal boxes or cleaning and disinfecting them were just as overwhelmed.

Pei Qian had already anticipated the manpower shortage, so he asked Moyu Delivery to hire a large number of temporary workers—paid daily—to ensure enough staff and prevent delivery delays.

And if deliveries did end up delayed, well, that couldn’t be helped. They would directly send compensation coupons to customers. In cases of serious delays, they would compensate with twice the value of the dishes.

In short, the already unprofitable Moyu Delivery had to lose even more money!

In addition, preparing standardized uniforms, thermal boxes, and e-bikes for the temporary riders also cost a decent amount.

Walking along the streets of Jingzhou, you could often see Moyu Delivery riders wearing their yellow-and-blue uniforms, riding their e-bikes—a rather eye-catching sight.

Unlike the reckless e-bike couriers Pei Qian remembered, Moyu Delivery’s riders were calm and orderly, strictly following traffic rules, not cutting lines or forcing their way through, behaving very politely.

After all, if orders were late, riders wouldn’t be fined. The platform would bear all customer compensation.

Moreover, Moyu Delivery paid a more generous delivery fee than other platforms, so couriers could earn decent income even by taking orders one at a time. There was no need to take risks for a few extra deliveries.

Of course, basic performance standards still had to be met. If a courier delivered too slowly and failed to meet his rapid-loss targets, or if their service attitude was poor and customers were dissatisfied, then they would be fined or even dismissed.

Over at Against the Wind Logistics, the scene was just as hectic. They had already coordinated with other courier companies earlier: during the event, Against the Wind Logistics would not charge any delivery fees. Many courier companies were therefore happy to dump their packages onto the Against the Wind Logistics Stations.

Users who mailed parcels from Against the Wind Logistics Stations could enjoy certain postage discounts, so, many people with mailing needs started using it.

All of Jingzhou’s Against the Wind Logistics Stations were bustling, with couriers constantly delivering and collecting packages. Every package received or shipped meant his system funds lost a bit more money.

Moyu Internet Café didn’t see a significant increase in players, but sales of the ROF console skyrocketed!

Before Moyu Internet Café even opened, a large number of players were already lined up outside. Shortly after the doors opened, the first 100 pre-built PCs were snapped up in an instant—those slots didn’t last long at all.

Because the deal was too good!

Originally, all three models of the PCs were already sold at cost. Assembly fees, logistics fees, after-sales service—those were practically being given away for free. And on top of that, there was the upgraded-tier promotion. With everything combined, players were getting the equivalent of over 4,000 yuan in savings. The attraction was irresistible!

Even though the first 100 spots were long gone, everyone’s enthusiasm to buy remained undiminished.

Pei Qian’s order for Zhang Yuan to stock up massively was finally showing its value. Components from the warehouse were being continuously transported to several assembly rooms, where staff rapidly built the machines. As soon as a unit lit up successfully, Against the Wind Logistics immediately delivered it directly to customers—the speed was incredibly fast.

Many people who bought a PC in the morning received their delivery by noon. Their excitement practically overflowed from their faces.

Noon, Moyu Internet Café.

Yu Hang was completely focused on his screen. His index finger tapped lightly on the left mouse button, and the muzzle on the screen spat blue fire, sending the zombie ahead of him staggering backwards.

He had to admit—Moyu Internet Café’s top-tier computer setup and high-refresh-rate esports monitor gave him a gaming experience like never before.

After finishing a match, Yu Hang leaned back in his chair and took two sips of coffee, his excitement still not fully settled.

Just then, a staff member approached and whispered beside his ear:

“Sir, congratulations—you’ve won a prize.”

Yu Hang froze. He jerked his head around and stared at the smiling staff member, momentarily speechless.

A scam?

That couldn’t be right—this guy worked here, and Yu Hang recognized him from many visits.

Such a large, well-known internet café wouldn’t dare scam customers openly… right?

Could it be… today he was actually blessed by the RNG gods?

Yu Hang stared suspiciously at the staff member. “What prize? Free hours?”

The staff smiled. “Sir, please leave your delivery address and contact information. You were selected as our café’s first lucky customer today. We will be giving you a computer—one identical to the ones used here.”

Yu Hang almost thought he heard wrong. “Huh? A computer? For free?”

The staff member nodded with a polite smile and lowered his voice. “Yes. A complimentary ROF custom-built PC.”

Yu Hang felt a bit dizzy—and honestly, slightly creeped out.

This whole thing felt bizarre!

He had joined events at other internet cafés before. When they held promotions, they would advertise everywhere.

Posters at the door, banners on the walls… If someone won something, they’d broadcast it across the entire café for three days straight just to make sure everyone knew.

But Moyu Internet Café…

Why was it doing this so quietly?

A whole PC giveaway, and they weren’t making a big deal out of it? It felt like some shady secret transaction—delivered in a whisper.

If he weren’t already a long-time customer, he might have jumped up, bolted for the exit, and yelled “SCAM!!!!”

But the moment he heard it was an ROF PC… Yu Hang couldn’t resist feeling tempted.

He knew about ROF. The café had been promoting them nonstop recently. The specs looked amazing, and with the tier-upgrade promotion, you could save up to 4,000 yuan—it was basically free.

But Yu Hang didn’t have the money—not even for the cheapest model.

Yet now… they were giving one away? For free? Seriously?

He accepted the pen and paper from the staff member, and while still suspicious, wrote down his address:

Room 403, Building 14, Handong University Main Campus

Then wrote his name and phone number beside it.

The staff nodded. “Alright, we’ll arrange delivery right away. Please keep an eye out.”

He then put away the pen and paper and left.

Yu Hang scratched the back of his head, thoroughly confused.

What on earth is going on!?

The staff member came over, asked for his address, and then left.

That was it?

Yu Hang even started doubting whether he had actually won anything at all. He wondered if the whole interaction had been a hallucination—side effects of drinking too much coffee.

“Forget it. At least they didn’t ask me for money. I’ll just wait and see.”

He didn’t think too much about it and continued fighting in Ocean Fortress.

Might as well wait. If something really did get delivered in a few days, then he would deal with it then.

By 1 p.m., the young man felt his stomach grumbling—time to head back.

On the way out, he ordered Moyu Delivery so that by the time he reached the dorm, the food would arrive right on schedule. Eat lunch, take a nap—life couldn’t be better.

He had barely reached the campus gate when his phone rang.

“Hello, is this Mr. Yu Hang? Your package has arrived downstairs.”

Yu Hang quickly replied, “Oh, okay, okay! I’m almost there.”

After hanging up, he muttered under his breath, “Why is today’s delivery so fast?”

He had ordered Moyu Delivery many times before, so he knew the timing well—usually, the food arrived right when he reached the dorm building.

But today, he had just stepped through the school gate and already received a call?

He hurried his steps.

Before he reached the dorm, his phone rang again.

“Hello? Is this Mr. Yu Hang? Your delivery is downstairs.”

Yu Hang was speechless. “Don’t rush me, don’t rush me, I’m almost there!”

The delivery guy on the other end sounded confused. “Huh?”

Yu Hang froze for a second… the voice sounded different?

Thinking back carefully, the first guy said his package arrived?

Yu Hang quickly said, “Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. Please wait a moment, I’m coming down right away.”

After hanging up, he was even more puzzled.

A package?

He hadn’t ordered anything recently—where would a package come from?

And normally, packages were never delivered to the dorm building. They would be lined up on the plaza ground for pickup. Which courier company provided such VIP treatment?

Yu Hang finally reached the building and saw a Moyu Delivery rider in blue-and-white uniform.

But beside him was a three-wheeled delivery cart—and a deliveryman standing next to a huge cardboard box.

Yu Hang felt even more confused. He grabbed his lunch from the food delivery rider, then walked to the courier.

“What’s this?” he asked, staring at the massive box.

The courier smiled. “Your computer host has arrived. Do you need help carrying it upstairs?”

Yu Hang froze—then blurted out in shock:

“Holy—!”

He won the prize in the morning… and they delivered it that same afternoon???

Even a rocket couldn’t go that fast!

He hadn’t even considered this possibility earlier. Even if he had won something, normal courier speed would take three to five days at least.

He’d heard ROF assembled their PCs from online-ordered parts. He never expected they’d deliver so ridiculously fast—comparable to, or even quicker than, physical stores offering in-person delivery!

“H-Help me carry it up, please!”

Yu Hang was thrilled—was he dreaming?

When they arrived at the dorm, his roommates were doing their own things—some sleeping, some watching shows on their laptops.

The courier expertly placed the huge box on the floor, unpacked it, lifted the PC, and set it on Yu Hang’s desk.

Handong Tech had better dorms than Handong University—no bunk beds, but loft beds with desks underneath, so the desktop fit just fine.

Yu Hang shouted to the guy across from him:

“Old Li! Quick, lend me your monitor!”

Old Li, the only one in the room with a desktop, turned his head—and his eyes went wide at the sight of the cool-looking PC on Yu Hang’s desk.

“Holy crap! Old Yu, did you win the lottery?!”
