Volume 1 Chapter 35: A Normal Person~
Volume 1 Chapter 35: A Normal Person~
“Black Bean~ When you grow up, how about I take you to get spayed, okay?”
Early in the morning, Ning Chu squatted in the corner of the dorm room, hands on his knees, whispering like some kind of devil.
“That way, even if you really do turn into a cat girl, you’ll be a neutered cat girl who can’t go into heat, right?”
The kitten yawned, lifted its head, then rolled over with no ladylike manners whatsoever and flopped down at his feet.
“Is it doing any better?”
“Yeah, seems a lot more lively.”
From his bunk, Wen Yang leaned against the bedframe, looking at the small, delicate figure crouched in the corner. “That’s good. Have you thought of a name yet?”
“Hmm... anything’s fine, I guess? Maybe just Black Bean?”
“Why not call it Chocolate?”
Ning Chu whipped his head around, staring up at Wen Yang in shock.
“What?” Wen Yang scratched his head. “I think it sounds good. Chocolate is black, the kitten’s black too.”
That confirmed it. This kitten was definitely the one from the plot—the one who would one day repay Wen Yang.
The cat girl in the novel had been named Chocolate as well...
So he really had let the wolf into the house!
If he hadn’t interfered, maybe Wen Yang would’ve picked up the kitten himself yesterday afternoon.
“No, that’s a terrible name. Let’s call it...” Ning Chu suddenly had an idea, naming it after food. “Black Bean!”
“Sounds kind of lame.” Wen Yang didn’t argue though. He jumped down from the top bunk. “But it’s your cat, so it’s your choice.”
“Mm.”
Thankfully, it was still just a tiny kitten—no threat at all to Wen Yang’s virginity. If Ning Chu guessed right, it was only about a month old. That meant nearly a whole year before it matured.
And in that time, there was no way the “cat girl repays kindness” plotline could happen. Why? Easy—because underage characters were strictly off-limits for anything lewd!
No need to panic.
Ning Chu rubbed Black Bean’s little head, stretched, and turned to look out the window.
The storm had ended overnight, and the sun outside was blazing again, annoyingly bright.
Time for more military training...
Since there was no cat food yet, he left Black Bean with a bowl of goat’s milk and a crushed sausage. After eating breakfast in the dorm with his roommates, he followed them out.
The campus field, still damp from yesterday’s rain, now felt like a giant steamer basket. The moment Ning Chu stepped onto it, sweat beaded on his forehead.
The combination of humidity and heat made it feel like even the air he breathed burned his lungs.
“Left turn! About face! At ease!”
The usual military drills dragged on, but today the instructor seemed to be in a playful mood. Whenever someone reacted too slowly and messed up, the others burst into laughter, giving the boring training a little spark of fun.
And, surprisingly, Han Jingye showed up at the field today.
He sat not far away, quietly watching the students train.
‘He’s scouting for prey again, isn’t he?’
Ning Chu grumbled inwardly. But truth be told, his image of this counselor had started to waver.
No matter how he looked at it, the guy didn’t seem like a villain at all... More like a serious, dedicated teacher.
Maybe even the instructor felt today’s oppressive weather, because after a short while he called for a break. Ning Chu immediately bolted for the shade, plopping onto the still-damp ground without a care.
Cross-legged, he pulled out his phone, ready to order some food for Black Bean online.
“What brand of cat food’s good?”
The prices here weren’t much different from his previous world. Some bags cost just a few dozen yuan, others went up to several hundred. He didn’t plan to splurge—just something healthy enough to keep Black Bean from getting sick.
But no matter which brand he searched, he kept finding people complaining about them.
Worms in the food, mold, cats keeling over on the spot after eating it...
After much struggle, Ning Chu finally picked a bag of ten pounds for two hundred yuan. But when he tapped “pay,” the dreaded insufficient balance message popped up. Only then did he realize he was completely broke.
He’d spent a lot at the amusement park with Wen Yang last weekend, and lately Zhang Shaoqing had been constantly coaxing him into splitting milk tea discounts and ordering midnight snacks. Now, with almost a week left until the end of the month, he had barely a hundred yuan to his name.
“Crap...”
A hundred yuan was enough for him if he scrimped, but what about the cat? He couldn’t feed it goat’s milk and sausages every day.
That thought reminded him—his parents were supposed to send living expenses soon.
‘What kind of parents would this world give me, anyway...?’
In his past life, he’d lost his family early. So suddenly having parents in this world left Ning Chu feeling oddly resistant.
Right beside him, Wen Yang overheard his muttering and turned curiously.
Ning Chu’s damp bangs stuck to his forehead and temples from sweat. Far from looking messy, it gave him a delicate, vulnerable charm.
And once again, Wen Yang caught that indescribable fragrance.
Every time Ning Chu sweated, it was especially noticeable.
Noticing Wen Yang’s stare, Ning Chu blinked and tilted his head. Wen Yang quickly shifted his gaze to the phone screen. “Buying cat food for Black Bean?”
“Mm. But I don’t have enough...”
“Then just buy a trial pack first. Kittens don’t eat that much anyway.”
“That makes sense!”
Ning Chu’s eyes lit up as he searched for sample packs online. But out of the corner of his eye, he kept glancing at the pink thermos in Wen Yang’s hand.
Feigning casual, he asked, “Which girl gave you that? Pretty sweet gift~”
“I don’t even like sour plum juice... but it was that girl from yesterday morning.” Wen Yang sighed helplessly. “She looked so pitiful—felt like if I didn’t take it, she’d cry on the spot.”
‘Her, huh…’
The corners of Ning Chu’s lips curved.
It seemed only the “plot characters” chased Wen Yang relentlessly. Ordinary girls were different—still bold enough to show affection, but not outright demanding his seed.
Finally, a normal person!
Liking someone but too shy to confess, only daring to hand over a bottle of sour plum juice and watch from afar... That kind of innocent, bashful crush—ah, in this overstuffed, chaotic hentai novel, it was genuinely touching.
“What? Jealous?” Wen Yang teased with a grin. “Don’t you have admirers too? The café boss lady’s a rich woman. I’m the one jealous of you.”
“With this scrawny body of mine, I doubt I’d survive being ‘taken care of’ by a rich lady.”
“You think way too much.” Wen Yang chuckled, glancing back at Ning Chu’s phone. “That canned food you scrolled past just now—buy one.”
“It’s too expensive, twenty yuan!” Ning Chu shook his head.
“Then I’ll pay. Consider it a welcome gift for Black Bean.”
Suspicious, Ning Chu narrowed his eyes at him. “Didn’t you say you can barely afford your own meals? Where’d you get money for cat food? Are you doing part-time work?”
His voice dropped, sharp as a blade. “Or... is some girl giving you cash?”
The sudden pressure made Wen Yang tense up. He instinctively leaned back, feeling cornered. “No.”
“No?”
“I—I just did some power-leveling for people's game accounts last night, and earned twenty-something.”
Ning Chu’s smile bloomed, bright and harmless. “I see.”
