Chapter 4: Dreaming of being a Sky Knight, hero?

Up until now, I've been acting with an attitude that honestly didn't seem any different from that of a strange lucid dream, or maybe just going with the flow to see where it takes me, while deep down I think, 'This is so unreal.'

Can you blame me? The one who brought me here was a God dressed like a mobster, and his underlings were Angels in classic mob attire.

More than that, going to a game world is usually nothing more than fantasy.

But seeing Dragons…no, Wyrven flying leisurely over the village kind of gives the feeling of “This is totally real” for some reason.

Perhaps because they looked like real animals rather than creatures designed just to look cool, with no concern for anatomy and biological limitations?

Regardless of why…I could only sigh for an unknown emotion that grew in my chest.

“Maru-Onee-chan! Thadeus -Nii-san!“

Suddenly, a little girl ran out in our direction while Thadeus and I stared in fascination at the Wyrvens. Huh? Onee-chan?

Why is that girl, Lily, using Japanese honorifics…? Oh, right, this was a Japanese game. Still, it was strange in a European setting… No, was it common knowledge?

This confused by the contractions in my mind.

“Oh, Lily”

The name I presume is the girl's came naturally out of my mouth as I glanced at the Wyrvens in the distance... now that I think about it, the protagonist was one thing, but how do I know the name of this girl, my sister?

Ah, it's my little sister...

Ummm….I think this could be explained by something called episodic memory, semantic and procedural memory.

While the first reflects personal experience, the second deals with knowledge, and the last with habits…or something like that.

Following that logic, it would explain why Thadeus just thought she was strange instead of someone else; Maru's habits and knowledge stay with me, to a certain extent.

I mean, it seemed like he didn't know whether Wyrvens could be dangerous or not...

“Maru-Onee-chan! Nii-san, you saw it right!? Green dragons were flying over our village! Incredible! Amazing! Wow!”

“Yes, it is a really special view.”

“Totally!” Thadeus was proud to say that, for some reason.

“Don’t act like you summoned the Wyrvens, okay?” I casually rolled my eyes at him, crossing my arms. It seemed perfectly natural, perhaps proof of my assumptions.

“Oh, come on… What’s wrong with taking pride in the magnificence of glorious Wyrvens?” Thadeus quickly grumbled and placed his hands on his hips, puffing out his chest with confidence. “My dream is to one day become a Sky Knight, riding a Wyrven through the skies as my trusted companion!”

“Work hard for it, Thadeus Nii-san!”

“What effort!? I will naturally achieve the success and be remembered as the greatest knight in heaven!”

Thadeus proudly proclaimed to the cheerful platinum-blonde girl like me.

No..although in the future, you will be remembered as the hero who saved the world.

I couldn't help but laugh uncomfortably when I thought about the difference between his dreams and his destiny as the Savior of humanity.

The Knights of Heaven.

Honorable knights of the Kingdom to which we belong, Starganus, who ride Wyrvens to defend the nation's skies alongside their trusted winged companions. They are powerful knights who have the unique tradition of taming their future mounts themselves, and it is said that they can annihilate a small army on their own.

They were the strongest warriors in the Starganus Kingdom. Such information came to mind immediately when I thought about it; knowledge I had no knowledge of the game, since the Knights of the Sky, by then destroyed, were barely mentioned in a Kingdom on the verge of collapse.

“Oh, yeah!” Lily spoke, as if remembering something, “Maru-Onee-chan, Mom says you should come for breakfast! She’s also inviting Thadeus Nii-san!”

“Ah…”

I invite the boy vigorously before turning around and going back the way I came. Thadeus and I look at each other for a moment before following her.
