Chapter 40: The Vengeance of the Evil Fairies?
The monsters in this game were the typical fantasy beings you see in novels and anime.
Orcs, Globins, Gnolls, Trolls, etc. These were all creatures we were terribly familiar with, and they will make you feel like something is missing if they don't appear in any fantasy work.
Of course, there were famous writings, games, and movies where many original monsters existed that captured attention for their unique quirks.
Yet each and every one of them seemed like classic fantasy beings. Even if, from a biological perspective, they could be called aliens, modern humans wouldn't describe them that way, as if they were part of their world. No, since many come from stories of humanity's ancient culture, it's inevitable to treat them as part of the world, even if they are mere fiction.
However, the creature that tried to attack them was far from the image of “Familiar magical fantasy creature”.
He looked like a fucking alien, okay?
A small one…
But weren't there already other small but deadly alien monsters anyway?
I'd never seen such a disgusting and disturbing creature, no matter how much I'd played as a hero's guide! What was that thing, some kind of endangered animal that never appeared in the game because it completely disappeared?
I didn't know that! Not even Maru was aware of that! Although Mom already killed (?) one, so they should be weaker than her. However, judging by how Thadeus's wind ball just blew it away, it clearly had high magic resistance and was a serious problem for kids like us.
Also, from its black fish scales or whatever, it seemed to be a nocturnal predator of some sort!
Or so I suppose, a pure layman in biology.
That creature was honestly creepy… I was so scared I couldn’t even speak from the shock of an alien monster trying to pounce on us, and Thadeus-kun, like in the afternoon, took me in his arms as if to comfort me while looking at Lily and answering, “Remember that thing you said Canelia-san beat half to death about this morning? Apparently, she had sneaky little friends in the village!”
“I said mom killed him…Wait, what?”
Lily exclaimed in shock.
Then…
“Thadeus-kun! He’s coming again…!”
“I see it!”
The alien creature's claws reappeared above the window frame, and its ugly head poked out to growl with its trademark "Gyaaa, Gyaaa!" as it attempted to rise again.
—Wind Spear!!
Thadeus-kun, who could already cast basic Elemental Magic spells with just their names, chanted with me in his arms and launched a spell at the creature's head; a sharp spear made of pure wind, which struck it again with force.
GYYAAAAAAAA —
Again, the animal let out a scream that disappeared halfway along, with no obvious injuries from the attack.
“What formidable magic resistance for something that seems so weak…” Thadeus-kun and I were speechless after noticing that the wind spear didn’t kill him outright.
That thing can rip a regular Globin's head off, you know? And Globins were stronger than your average adult!
“There were more of those Spriggans in town!?”
Lily frowned, the term she used catching my attention, “Spriggans?”
“Evil fairies from the Fairy Kingdom…that’s what Mom told me this morning.”
The kingdom of the fairies!
I was speechless. These monsters came from that mysterious kingdom? Then it all made sense! That's why I didn't know them!
But... Spriggans? I think I knew that name; a type of fairy, like Lily said, but... Were they evil, alien-looking fairies?
Maybe it's in that worldview; I don't know much about mythology and stuff like that...
“Are more of those disgusting monsters coming!?” Thadeus-kun suddenly cursed, “We have to close the window!”
Just as Thadeus had said, more arms (legs?) belonging to those things appeared in the window frame, hastily climbing up while their unpleasant squeaking echoed in the room. My face turned blue with fear.
However, before either of us could do anything, Lily acted first.
—Water Cannon!!!
From her small, delicate hand, a magic circle larger than Thadeus's I believe appeared with an intense navy blue color, and a jet of high-pressure water was shot out against the creatures that were climbing, sending them flying!
“Lily, you could use magic!?”
Thadeus-kun and I exclaimed simultaneously, in disbelief… Huh? So Thadeus-kun didn't know about it too? Lucky me! It would have been strange if he didn't know about it if it were common!
“I’ve already awakened my Spirits, and Kaya-san secretly taught me magic,” Lily commented simply with a serious expression, although I could tell she was proud of herself. “I can even use Intermediate Magic, so count me in!”
Intermediate Magic!
My eyes trembled. A girl who awakened her spirits at about six and even managed to use Intermediate Magic at that age! I'd never heard of anything like that!
And an Elf taught him human magic up to the intermediate level? Does that even make sense?
Elves are supposed to do magical things without relying on Spirits like humans do…!
“Great!” Thadeus-kun, unlike me, just looked at Lily in awe and admiration, causing the half-naked girl to raise her shoulders slightly with a slight grimace of sufficiency….I didn’t like it.
“Let’s talk about this later! Should we close the window? Okay?!”
I scolded them immediately, and they blinked before refocusing on the situation. Lily moved out of the way, and I backed away from Thadeus, who quickly ran to the window to close it.
However, suddenly, a sudden gust of wind blew hard from outside, stopping the not-naked man in his tracks in surprise, and powerful thunderclaps sounded loudly outside, scaring me.
....A sudden storm!? Hey, what!? Why!?
If the sky was completely clear a few seconds ago, right!?
It didn't end there, "What the hell!? They got bigger!?"
Thadeus-kun's scream, as he'd instinctively been covering his eyes from the winds entering the room, confused us even more. What did he mean by saying those things got bigger?
Only when I gathered my courage and approached him did I understand.
Looking out the window, relatively far from the inn, there were four of those Spriggans. Their physical form was no different from before, except for one thing that made them easily distinguishable despite the distance… They now seemed to be three meters tall or something!
“They can get bigger!” Lily exclaimed out loud what I dared not believe as she covered my mouth with both hands in amazement, our hair blowing in the wind.
In the midst of this unnatural storm, those evil fairies were snarling in our direction, glaring at each other as one of them raised its hand to the sky as if making a proclamation of revenge towards us, waving its tail threateningly while flicking its serpentine tongue.
The storm outside, though not destructive enough to damage the structures of the village's homes, seemed strong enough to cause the wind to blow some everyday objects around the Spriggans, and there was no doubt that these magical beings were the cause of the storm battering our home.
“What is that!? A green cover keeps them away from us?”
Thadeus frowned as he watched them, unable to get more than three meters from the inn due to some kind of green cover. I sort of recognized him from the game when I remembered it, but before I could speak, someone got in front of me.
“From what I see…it’s a barrier against hostile monsters,” Lily said out loud indifferently, as if she already knew. “It’s one of the high-level enchantment protections that Mama apparently put all over the inn….from what Kaya-san told me, Mama is a very powerful Magician to be able to do something like that without being detected, even by other Magicians. Oh, and those enchantments are the reason why no one heard us having sex, because they isolate the sound so that it doesn’t escape to the outside for the comfort of the guest!”
“”….“”
I wasn't sure if it was necessary to mention that last part... but Lily seemed to know quite a bit thanks to that perverted elf, whoever she really is. And also, Mom's amazing, isn't she!?
High-level magic enchantments for a measly inn! That's incredible... oh rather, I'm just thinking about it now, but could it be because of her that our inn seems bigger than it appears on the outside!?
Because there are more customers than this place should be able to handle on the outside…
“Mama is really cool, even if she doesn’t show it.” Lily proudly stuck out her chest, shaking her small, tender breasts as the wind ruffled her nightgown. “Kaya-san even called her a magic monster for expanding the inn’s interior with magic, calling it ‘Pure Magical Madness’ in admiration while saying ‘I wanna suck those magic tits!’”
“Unnecessary information again! Why the hell do you think we needed to know that that Elf was a bisexual woman who expresses her sexual desires even when talking about unrelated topics!?”
I couldn't help but retort heartily. Or rather, why are you hanging around with that crazy Lily?! He even lusts after Mom!
Oh rather…Mom is amazing!
“Can we worry about that crazy Elf later?” Thadeus said with a wry smile, clearly worried, as he closed the window to block out the wind, cutting off our view of those creatures. “I want someone to give me an idea of what we should do about all this… I mean, I wasn’t planning on staying here all night, for obvious reasons…”
"That is...!"
My nerves had relaxed when I no longer felt that wind, however, when I heard those words, I realized something that made my nerves stand on end again: Thadeus-kun shouldn't stay here!
If he stayed here until dawn and Mom found him in my room, she'd know something had happened, even if we cleaned everything up. That wasn't supposed to happen!
The problem…is that those things were out there, and we didn't know how much would be done!
“Thadeus-kun, I don’t think you’re strong enough to fight the Spriggans…” I said with an awkward expression, remembering how despite his gifts, he was easily defeated by bandits who had already tasted blood in the game “Those monsters are stronger than we thought, and they clearly have something against us….”
“So…what am I supposed to do?”
“”….“”
Three children, one completely naked and the others with some semen flowing from their neighbors, looked at each other in somber silence.
We didn't need anything else to know what he meant; we all have ideas here about what would happen if they found out what happened between us, if they saw it in here.
But...what could we do? With what was happening outside, it was inevitable to stay for your safety!
The sudden storm outside the inn took us all by surprise, though not as much as those beings who suddenly grew larger. If it weren't for the strange lime-green barrier surrounding us, they might have stormed in!
Go outside? Expose yourself to the storm naked while inside it? Nonsense! There was only one option in this situation.
But…I can't help but wonder: Why could those Spriggans get in before, but now it's impossible for them?
With that thought, some game knowledge came to mind: it was about something called High-Level Stealth Skills focused on detection magic formations!
I thought about it and understood the truth.
Those things were hiding behind the barrier with such high-level skills that only the strongest characters in the game had demonstrated!
Indeed, those were fairies. Only mythical beings like that could do something so crazy... which makes you wonder how one of them allowed Mom to beat the hell out of her without anyone noticing!
As expected, the powerful wife of a Grand Duke of the North is no pushover….
