Chapter 61: The Fifth Member
Historically, this sort of thing wasn’t unusual.
There was no other word for it but domination.
"Second half, shall we?"
"...No, we’d like to forfeit."
Top Chat: Well, that’s only natural
Top Chat: With this, yeah…
Top Chat: Totally impossible
In just the first ten minutes of the first half, Elf had racked up 17 points. Naturally, not a single one had been conceded. The match was already decided, and even in the chat, hardly anyone wanted to see more.
"In that case, we can still squeeze in another game before sunset."
"Y-yeah. Let’s get ready."
Top Chat: Red’s totally overwhelmed
Top Chat: Didn’t notice because the Four Heavenly Kings were putting up a decent fight, but Elf’s this strong, huh…
Top Chat: Elf-san’s insane when the game matches her abilities
Top Chat: Remember when she broke the rankings in rhythm games?
Top Chat: Ahhh
Top Chat: Elf-san’s even scarier when her way of winning isn’t flashy
Without sparing a glance at Red and the others scrambling to prepare, Misora was lost in thought.
"What did she mean by ‘giant,’ I wonder…?"
On one hand, she thought maybe it was just a throwaway comment from the easygoing Elf. On the other, Misora couldn’t help feeling that their way of winning blind soccer hadn’t been ‘like her.’
"I don’t really know what part of it wasn’t ‘like her,’ but… hmm…"
"Misora, they say preparations are ready, so let’s head over as well?"
"Ah, right. Got it, Riku-kun."
Even with the uneasy feeling still hanging over her, Misora switched gears.
"Wa-ha-ha-ha! The next activity is 《Final Basketball Forest》!"
"I’ll fill in the details. The rules are simple: a basketball game between the Streamer Team and the Four Heavenly Kings. However, the trees are considered part of the court."
Top Chat: Ha, who thought it was a good idea to turn a forest into a court lol
Top Chat: They leveled the ground and wrapped the trees in cushions, so it’s just for the atmosphere
Top Chat: Still, with dribbling and running, that’s about as far as it can go
Top Chat: You sound like you don’t wanna play, saying stuff like that
Top Chat: That’s a separate issue!
Top Chat: I’ll think about it after playing!
Top Chat: Let us playyy!
"Mm."
"Something wrong, Elf-san?"
"Drop the time limit. Make it first to two goals."
Top Chat: Wow, Elf-san rarely comments on the rules
Top Chat: Isn’t this the first time?
Top Chat: Well, it’d be bad if it turned out just like the blind soccer match
Top Chat: I’m fine with first-to-two-goals
Top Chat: Agreed with Elf
Top Chat: Same here
Watching the chat reactions, Riku made the call.
"Shall we go with Elf-san’s proposal?"
"We’re fine with that as well!"
"Then it’s decided: first to two goals. We’ll start once everyone’s ready, with the Streamer Team holding the ball."
At Riku’s declaration, everyone began checking the condition of the court and the positioning of the trees. The sun was already sinking, but there was still some time before sunset. Misora gently stretched her body, stiffened from barely moving during the blind soccer match.
"Misora."
"Ah, Elf-san. Do you need something?"
"Show me a shot."
Top Chat: Oh, so that’s what she’s after lol
Top Chat: The match has already begun before it’s even started
Top Chat: More like, it might be over before it starts
"Ah, you want to learn. Got it."
"Please."
Just a little past the center line, but still inside the three-point arc, Misora demonstrated a shot.
The ball slipped cleanly through the hoop on the first try.
"I’ve got it."
"Good. But why did you ask me, specifically?"
"Because you’re experienced, aren’t you?"
"Ah, yes. I used to play basketball in club activities."
Top Chat: Wait, really?
Top Chat: I didn’t know that
Top Chat: It’s not in the leader’s official profile
Top Chat: So how did she figure it out?
"During that ‘See-through Meat Leotard Ball Roll,’ Misora looked comfortable marking opponents. At first I thought it was soccer, but in blind soccer you seemed unfamiliar handling the ball at your feet. That leaves basketball."
Top Chat: Oh yeah, man-marking was kinda tricky
Top Chat: If you can man-mark well, it pretty much narrows down to basketball or soccer
Top Chat: Now that you mention it, true
Top Chat: Elf-san pulling out her weird insight powers again
"Wow… Elf-san, you really pay attention to people…"
"That’s why I think it’s about time I want to play with you, Misora."
"Eh?"
"Elf-san, Misora! We’re starting the game!"
"Ah, coming!"
Turning to answer Riku, Misora’s gaze left Elf for just a moment. When she looked back, Elf was already walking toward the center of the court.
In the end, Misora put her questions aside for later and focused on starting the game. Perhaps, if she had asked them right then, the flow of events might have changed.
Right at the opening tip-off, Elf launched a shot from nearly the center line. And with perfect accuracy, the ball swished straight through the hoop the Streamer Team was defending.
"Misora."
"E–Elf-san… why…?"
"There’s nothing wrong with the Four Heavenly Kings having a fifth, is there?"
Top Chat: Yeah, not sure about that one…
