Chapter 62: A Strange Hobby

"Here we go, let’s cheer! Big laugh time! Knock it outta the park, Warai! Go, go, Warai!"

From Riku’s point of view, his sister Misora had strange hobbies.

She loved watching sports, cheering indiscriminately for baseball, soccer, basketball—whatever it was. That much was unusual, but not unheard of. What really set her apart was the kind of teams she chose to root for.

"Ah—no, no! Get back, hurry! Ah! Ah! Get back! Back! Ahhh!?"

Misora always cheered for the weak teams.

"Ahh… they’ve fallen back to last place again…"

Weak teams lose. Because they lose, she yells a lot. The logic was simple enough.

What was fortunate for Misora was that her younger brother Riku understood his sister’s charm.

"Misora, don’t forget you have to go to the office on Monday."

"Office?"

"Yes. There’s an interview at a VTuber agency."

"Ehh!?"

Riku went ahead and made arrangements on his own, believing many people would be captivated by his sister.

And as it turned out, he was right—very soon.

"I was shocked, but the competition’s super tough, so there’s no way someone like me would get hired, haha."

What was unfortunate for Misora was that her brother also understood exactly how to bring out that charm.

It wouldn’t be long before she came to be known as the ‘Reverse God.’

"Now then, time for the five-loss punishment game."

"Whyyy!?"

With one basket already against them, the Streamer Team had only Misora. Meanwhile, the Four Heavenly Kings now had five players with Elf included.

The game resumed with a throw-in from outside the end line—behind the hoop Misora’s team was defending. But she didn’t even have a teammate to pass the ball to.

"Misora. Come on, let’s play!"

"E–Elf-san, what am I supposed to do in a situation like this!?"

Top Chat: Too true
Top Chat: This isn’t even a match
Top Chat: Like, who’s she supposed to throw to?
Top Chat: What if she just bounces it at her own feet and picks it up?
Top Chat: Rule says she can’t touch it until another player does

"Wa-ha-ha-ha! I don’t know the circumstances, but we’ll take the win! Let’s go, Black, Green, Pink, and Emerald Green!"

"""""Yahhh!"""""

"Yeah!"

Top Chat: She really played along with that lol
Top Chat: lmao

With Elf and the others closing in step by step, Misora finally picked a target.

"There!"

"Hm!"

Top Chat: Oh!
Top Chat: Clever, that works
Top Chat: So hitting an opponent with the throw-in is allowed?
Top Chat: Yeah, you can sometimes throw it off an opponent and get possession back that way

The one Misora chose to throw at was Red. She hurled it hard and low, making it tough to catch. Sure enough, the ball bounced off Red’s body, letting Misora recover possession without Elf and the others stealing it.

"Wa-ha-ha-ha! Well done! Black, Green! Close in from both sides! Don’t let her face the basket!"

"…!"

But beyond that, the play wouldn’t progress.

Red and the others increased their pressure, trying to crush Misora’s dribble.

Even if she wanted to shoot, she couldn’t get a straight look at the basket.

"Useless! You’re not getting through here!"
"Ugh… not yet! There—!"

Top Chat: Right, there’s a tree here

Yet, Misora persevered.
She bounced the ball off the trunk of a tree growing on the field, keeping her dribble while slipping past the defenders.

"Misora, you’re not getting through!"
"U-ugh…!"

Even so, it wasn’t enough.

Beyond the defenders stood Elf. Even alone, she was more of a threat than the three Reds combined. Misora’s instincts screamed that a single lapse could cost her the ball.

Behind Elf, Red and the others were already circling to form another trap.

The center line was still far away. There was no way she could throw the ball in from here.

"This is—"

Top Chat: This… is impossible

"No matter how you think about it—"

Top Chat: No matter how you think about it, there’s no way

"Whatever anyone says—"

Top Chat: Whatever anyone says, you can’t get through

"For anyone—"

Top Chat: For anyone, it’s impossible

Top Chat: Because the opponent is just too strong

"—This is the best, isn’t it!"

Top Chat: Eh
Top Chat: She shouted
Top Chat: Reverse God?
Top Chat: The leader?

"Ahahaha! Here we go! Catch it properly—take it!"

Misora roared.
She roared, then threw the ball with all her strength.

All alone, neither Elf nor the Four Heavenly Kings were in the field’s deepest area—right in front of the Four Heavenly Kings’ goal. Waiting there—

"Misora, I’m just staff, you know?"

—Aimed straight at Riku.

"Riku-kun, you’re part of the Streamer Team, so it’s not wrong, right?"

"That’s right. I’ll go along with that."

No one could reach her in time. Riku calmly made the shot.

"Yessss! Tied against Elf-san!"

Top Chat: Tied! Tied!
Top Chat: Whoa—Reverse God!
Top Chat: Reverse God! Reverse God!
Top Chat: Leader! Leader!
Top Chat: Reverse God! Reverse God!

"She really has a strange hobby… Misora’s—love for giant-killing."

The boy who had once tried to broadcast his sister’s charm muttered to himself with a wry smile.
