Chapter 70: Correction—Not Escorting but Snatching

Chapter 70: Correction—Not Escorting but Snatching

On stage and off, countless eyes focused on Chen Yin's figure.

Yet Chen Yin seemed utterly unfazed, standing there calmly as if he were in his own courtyard.

Yu Xiang slowly covered her mouth, her eyes filled with disbelief, her voice choking.

“Senior Brother… how could you…”

“Oh?”

The Demonic Faction Dao Lord, observing this dramatic scene, raised an eyebrow slightly and said with a playful tone, “So this is the senior brother you've been pining for, Chen Yin, is it?”

“Heh, daring to barge into my Demonic Faction Headquarters with just the two of you—impressive indeed.”

“And this young lady beside him….”

Shen Shuanglian decided to discard her mask, revealing her elegant and serene face. She spoke calmly,

“Misty Spirit Sect, Shen Shuanglian.”

At this moment, not only did Yu Xiang’s gaze shift subtly, but another startled voice rang in her mind:

[What the—?! Shen Shuanglian?]

[Is she out of her mind? What is she doing here?]

The system’s voice became panicked and flustered.

[She’s a chosen protagonist! How dare she run into the Demonic Faction’s headquarters?]

[Doesn’t she know this will seriously violate the storyline records?]

[If she dies here, not only will she be gone, but our storyline records will collapse too!]

[Then it’s game over for all of us!]

“I don’t care,” Yu Xiang said, her voice trembling with suppressed emotion. Her gaze was firm as she stared at the Demonic Faction Dao Lord. “He must not come to harm.”

“Otherwise, you’ll never see the perfected version of the Refined Nether Arts in your lifetime.”

[You!]

The system was almost apoplectic.

The Demonic Faction Dao Lord glanced at her with amused interest but didn’t immediately speak, as if weighing his options.

But just then, a frivolous voice came from below the stage.

“Xiang’er, have you forgotten what Senior Brother told you again?”

Yu Xiang turned around, stunned, to see Chen Yin gazing at her with a breezy smile.

“I’ve told you before, haven’t I? Don’t keep everything bottled up inside. A junior sister is meant to be spoiled.”

“Occasionally leaning on your senior brother—is that so bad?”

He began to ascend the steps, his stride unwavering, as though he didn’t notice the terrifyingly powerful Demonic Faction Dao Lord standing above.

“Senior Brother, I…” Tears welled up in Yu Xiang’s eyes as she looked at him, at a loss for words.

“We’ve been out long enough. It’s about time we went home,” Chen Yin said with a smile.

“If we don’t go back soon, Master might hang us from a tree for a good beating.”

Yu Xiang faltered for a moment. She reached out but withdrew her hand as if shocked.

“Senior Brother… I’m sorry,” she whispered after a long silence, her reddened eyes filled with sorrow.

“Xiang’er… Xiang’er can’t go back with you…”

“I didn’t ask if you could,” Chen Yin replied calmly. “I asked if you wanted to.”

Yu Xiang looked bewildered for a moment.

“What you can achieve here in the Demonic Faction, I can help you achieve just the same.”

“Whether it’s the demonic cultivation technique or the matters of the Changli Palace.”

“Silly girl, why bear everything on your own?” Chen Yin’s gaze was tender, his tone filled with doting affection, like that of an older brother to his little sister.

“If you want it, your senior brother will take care of everything for you.”

Yu Xiang’s lips trembled, but before she could speak, a mocking voice interrupted.

“Oh? Now I’m curious.”

The Demonic Faction Dao Lord sneered, his gaze mocking as he looked at Chen Yin. “You, a mere cultivator in the Cloud Realm, dare to speak such arrogant words?”

“I wasn’t talking to you,” Chen Yin replied coolly, not even sparing him a glance.

The Demonic Faction Dao Lord’s expression darkened.

“Heh, let’s see,” he said as he sat back on his throne, resting his head on one hand like a spectator.

“Will Her Highness the Saintess trust the Demonic Faction and the demonic cultivation technique she’s trained in for so long, or this insignificant Cloud Realm cultivator?”

Yu Xiang bit her lip tightly, her gaze filled with avoidance and sorrow as she looked at Chen Yin.
“Senior Brother, the matter of the Changli Palace… do you already know?”

“…I’m sorry,” Chen Yin replied softly.

“Time was short; I couldn’t investigate thoroughly. I only know a rough outline.”

“Your true name… is Yin Mengwan, isn’t it?”

“The daughter of Yin Changli, the leader of Changli Palace, which was annihilated by the Misty Spirit Sect over a decade ago.”

Yu Xiang choked up, her tears streaming silently down her cheeks.

“Silly girl, why didn’t you tell me or Master?”

His gaze was full of helplessness and indulgence, his tone gentle beyond words. “If you had told us, your peerlessly strong Master and your peerlessly handsome Senior Brother would have gone to settle the score for you.”

Yu Xiang remained silent for a long time before shaking her head slowly.

“Yushan is, after all, a branch of the Misty Spirit Sect.”

“I… I don’t want Master and Senior Brother to fight against our sect siblings because of me—”

“Heh, you overestimate the Misty Spirit Sect.”

“And you underestimate Master and me,” Chen Yin chuckled.

He walked up to Yu Xiang, habitually placing his hand on her head and gently ruffling her hair.

Just like every day over the past decade at Yushan Mountain

“It doesn’t matter what the main sect does. It has nothing to do with us. I can give up being a disciple of the Misty Spirit Sect,” Chen Yin said, his gaze fixed intently on Yu Xiang’s face.

“But I can’t lose my family. I can’t lose you.”

The familiar warmth of his broad palm rested gently on her head, like a small ember spreading warmth through her. Yu Xiang almost broke down in tears.

She desperately covered her mouth, her head bowed, as crystalline drops splashed onto the ground.

“Senior Brother…”

“Come. Let’s go home,” Chen Yin said, his tone serious.

Before Yu Xiang could respond, the system’s voice erupted angrily.

[Think it through! If you stubbornly defy the storyline records again, don’t blame me for being ruthless!]

[Don’t think your senior brother or master are all that powerful. If you push me too far, I’ll ensure none of them survive!]

Yu Xiang’s body trembled slightly.

Over the years, she had witnessed the system’s bizarre powers countless times. They were entirely alien to this world—no cultivation level could match them.

She didn’t dare gamble. What if the system truly went berserk and erased her senior brother and master entirely?

“It seems our Saintess still can’t make up her mind,” the Demonic Faction Dao Lord finally spoke, his tone laced with impatience.

“Kid, if you lack the ability, don’t try to act cool here.”

“Playtime is over. I’m willing to let you go as a favor to the Saintess. But if you continue to disrupt her or jeopardize the Demonic Faction’s plans of millennia…”

“Then don’t blame me for being merciless.” His gaze turned cold.

Chen Yin merely lifted his eyes, casting the Demonic Faction Dao Lord a brief glance before looking back at Yu Xiang.

“Xiang’er, do you truly not want to go home with me?”

His eyes held a faint trace of disappointment.

Yu Xiang shook her head frantically like a frightened animal. “No, it’s not that…”

“I don’t hate Senior Brother; I just…”

Her lips pressed tightly together, but her tears flowed uncontrollably, streaming down like broken beads.

“I’m sorry…” she finally whispered, crouching down and hugging her knees as sobs wracked her body.

“Xiang’er is such a coward… too scared to gamble…”

Chen Yin knelt beside her, gently patting her back in comfort.

“Xiang’er, what are you so afraid of?”

“I’m not afraid of dying…”

She slowly lifted her tear-streaked face, gazing at Chen Yin with her wet eyes.

“What Xiang’er fears most… is never seeing Senior Brother again.”

Her crying was filled with grievance.

Chen Yin suddenly remembered how, back in their childhood on Yushan Mountain, whenever he pulled a prank too far, Xiang’er would find a secluded spot to cry.

Every time, she would cry until her eyes were red and swollen, feeling wronged but still stubborn. If Chen Yin didn’t come to find her, she wouldn’t return on her own—even if she cried all night in the wilderness.

But Chen Yin always found her.

Every time, just as her throat went hoarse from crying, his remorseful voice would appear beside her:

“I’m sorry, Xiang’er… it’s Senior Brother’s fault.”

“Don’t cry. Senior Brother will take you home and make you something delicious.”

At moments like those, Xiang’er would pout, whispering through her tears, “Stupid Senior Brother. Xiang’er won’t forgive you.”

But her little hand would hold onto his so tightly, unwilling to let go even for a moment.

Just like today.

There she was, hugging her knees, crying like that little girl from back then.

Nothing had changed.

The boy always had to find the crying girl and bring her home.

“…Alright, Xiang’er, don’t cry,” Chen Yin said gently.

“If you can’t make a decision, then let Senior Brother take the blame.”

Yu Xiang’s sobbing gradually subsided. She slowly raised her tear-stained face, staring at him in confusion.

“There’s no helping it. After all, our family only has one little junior sister like you.”

“If I don’t bring you back, Master will be furious.”

Chen Yin stood up slowly, turning to face the Demonic Faction Dao Lord in front of everyone.

“Hey, you in black over there.”

The Demonic Faction Dao Lord’s eyes narrowed.

“Sorry, my friend.”

Chen Yin gave him a bright, mischievous smile.

“This person—”

“—I’m taking her with me.”
