Chapter 86: Flower Language
Chapter 86: Flower Language
As soon as they returned to Yushan Mountain, Xiang’er wordlessly went to her room and fell asleep.
Chen Yin noticed the heavy fatigue and weakness in her eyes and didn’t disturb her.
—This was probably the only time in years she’d had a peaceful rest.
Meanwhile, Yu Ling had a great time and didn’t return until well past midnight. Humming a tune, she seemed to be in an excellent mood.
“Looks like you looted quite a bit from the Misty Spirit Sect’s treasure vault,” Chen Yin remarked.
“Ah, it’s not that much,” Yu Ling waved dismissively. “Just took all the valuable stuff. I left the cultivation techniques, secret manuals, and sect-protecting magical tools for your little girlfriend to guard the mountain with.”
Chen Yin coughed awkwardly, not bothering to argue.
“However…” His expression darkened with a hint of concern. “The Misty Spirit Sect is a major sect that’s made countless enemies over thousands of years.”
“If word gets out that their sect leader and elders were all but wiped out, a bloodbath will likely follow.”
“I don’t know if Senior Sister can handle it on her own… Maybe I should go back tomorrow to help her?”
“Ha,” his master cast him a lazy glance. “You really underestimate your little girlfriend.”
“She’s not as delicate as you think. Do you honestly believe just anyone could earn the title of Frost Moon Sword Immortal in the cultivation world?”
“Besides,” her petite figure strolled gracefully, her wide robes under the moonlight looking like a veil of clouds.
“The Misty Spirit Sect’s strength isn’t limited to those high-ranking elders with profound cultivation.”
“With proper use, given your little girlfriend’s abilities, it’d take at least three or four experts at the Great Purity level to even scratch the sect’s gates.”
Chen Yin nodded silently but suddenly asked, “You don’t want me to go back to help Senior Sister. Could it be that you’re jealous?”
In the next moment, Chen Yin was unceremoniously kicked down the mountain.

Midnight.
The mountains were desolate.
At the foot of the mountain, the door to a small wooden hut was open. Chen Yin glanced inside briefly but didn’t enter. Instead, he turned and headed toward the small hill behind the hut.
The pine and cypress trees grew vigorously along the rocky cliffs, their shadows creeping eerily. Wild winds swept across the hills, parting the clouds to reveal a serene moonlit sky.
Xiang’er sat at the edge of the small cliff, her pale green dress glowing like jade under the moonlight.
“Awake?” Chen Yin sat down beside her.
Xiang’er lowered her head, her green cloth shoes swaying over the edge.
“…Can’t sleep anymore,” she murmured.
“Why? Still having nightmares?”
“No. Quite the opposite.” Xiang’er’s crystalline eyes shimmered. “For once, I didn’t have any nightmares.”
“No dreams of my parents, covered in blood, reaching out to me. No anguished cries from my senior brothers and sisters.”
“I didn’t dream at all. My consciousness just… broke off, and I slept until now.”
Chen Yin ruffled her hair. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
Xiang’er lowered her head, pondering, then blinked and said,
“A person who’s been fat all their life suddenly wakes up one day to find themselves extremely skinny. Their first reaction might not be joy but fear, right?”
Chen Yin nodded thoughtfully.
“I’ve grown used to seeing my parents in my nightmares every night.”
She spoke slowly, as if to herself. “I always thought it was their spirits reminding me not to forget to avenge them. To never forget.”
“I treated revenge as my life. As my reason for living.”
“Now, the revenge is over. My parents no longer come to me in my dreams.”
“But suddenly, I don’t know what to live for anymore.” Her long lashes drooped, her gaze tinged with melancholy.
Chen Yin shrugged. “Aren’t Master and I enough reason for you to keep living?”
Xiang’er was silent for a long time before turning to him with a radiant smile.
“Of course you are.”
“Even if, from now on… I live only for you, Senior Brother.”
“I’ll do so willingly.” Her lips curved faintly.
Chen Yin gazed at her profile and suddenly flicked her forehead.
“Ah!”
Xiang’er immediately pouted, looking aggrieved. “Why? That hurt…”
“I helped you seek revenge, not so you’d live for me,” Chen Yin said gently.
“I wanted you to gain freedom.”
“Freedom means that one day, I hope our Xiang’er will no longer be bound by anything. That you’ll do what you want to do, and become who you want to be.”
“Whether it’s a blood feud, Master, or me—nothing should hold you back.”
“Every choice you make, every person you meet, will have only one reason: because you want to.”
“Live for yourself. Live happily. Live freely. Understand?” He spoke softly.
Xiang’er’s eyes flickered with a dazed look.
Suddenly, her vision blurred, and she couldn’t see Chen Yin’s face clearly. She reached up to rub her eyes.
But her vision only grew blurrier. Tears welled up as she rubbed harder.
A warm hand gently stroked her hair. Xiang’er looked up with reddened eyes, seeing Chen Yin’s soft smile.
“All right. Stop crying.”
“You’re no longer the Yin Mengwan imprisoned by hatred.”
“—You’re free now.”
Xiang’er wiped her tears with the back of her hand and suddenly let out a giggle through her sniffles.
“What’s so funny?”
“Stupid Senior Brother… Always acting all dramatic and saying things you think sound cool.”
Chen Yin couldn’t help but scratch his nose. “Uh, wasn’t it cool?”
It was.
So cool.
But Xiang’er just pouted, her eyes brimming with laughter.
“And you, Senior Brother? Are you free?”
“Of course. Your Senior Brother is free and carefree every day, though we won’t talk about happiness.”
“Do you have someone you like, Senior Brother?”
Chen Yin, as usual, teased with a grin, “Of course I like Xiang’er.”
“Mm.”
This time, Xiang’er smiled brightly, her face tilted upward. “I like Senior Brother too.”
Seeing Xiang’er uncharacteristically unaffected by his teasing this time, Chen Yin couldn’t resist pressing further:
“So, what kind of ‘like’ does Xiang’er feel for Senior Brother?”
Xiang’er thought about it seriously and replied with a bright, earnest expression:
“I like Senior Brother in a way that makes me want to stay by his side for the rest of my life.”
“I want to share all my happy moments with him, and all the beautiful things I see.”
“I want to see mountains, oceans, stars, and the moon with him. To watch the clouds drift and gather together.”
“I want to marry Senior Brother, with red veils and a grand celebration, have many children, and grow old together.”
“—It’s the kind of ‘like’ that means I like him the most.” She smiled sweetly, dimples adorning her cheeks.
Chen Yin was stunned into silence for a long while.
The more he listened, the more he felt an uncharacteristic blush creep up his face.
What he’d thought was just playful banter had somehow turned into a heartfelt confession.
And now, Xiang’er, with her blushing cheeks, radiant as a blooming flower, seemed like the one teasing him instead.
Her gaze was direct and clear, unflinchingly focused on him.
Chen Yin couldn’t handle the sincerity of her gaze, which stirred his heart so intensely. He turned his head away, his face reddening even more:
“Cough— D-don’t be so mushy. You’re making your Senior Brother embarrassed.”
“Oh, so Senior Brother can feel embarrassed?” Xiang’er teased with a mischievous smile. “I thought your thick skin was as solid as a city wall. Hee hee.”
“Old age makes me weak against such straightforward words.”
“Then… What about me in Senior Brother’s heart?” Xiang’er blinked her clear eyes, a trace of hope flickering in her gaze.
“What kind of ‘like’ does Senior Brother feel for Xiang’er?”
Chen Yin thought seriously for a moment before suddenly turning to her and asking, “Do you still have it?”
“Have what?”
“That sachet.”
Xiang’er’s cheeks flushed slightly as she nodded and slowly removed the embroidered green sachet from her waist.
“Of course I kept it. It was a gift from Senior Brother—I could never bear to part with it.” She looked at the sachet, her eyes filled with sweetness.
“That’s what I wanted to say.”
Chen Yin spoke softly, “There’s a saying that every flower in the world has its own symbolic meaning, called its ‘flower language.’”
“For example, roses symbolize passionate love, and tulips represent pure love.”
Xiang’er tilted her head slightly. “Then… what’s the flower language of the Yushan Flower?”
“Haha. The Yushan Flower only grows here on Yushan Mountain.”
Chen Yin’s gaze grew soft and luminous. “Why don’t we decide its flower language ourselves?”
Hearing this, Xiang’er grew serious, pondering along with him.
“Hmm… Does Senior Brother have any ideas?”
“The flower language should match the flower itself,” Chen Yin said slowly.
“For instance, roses are bright and intense, representing fiery, passionate love; lilacs are elegant and fragrant, tinged with melancholy.”
“But the fragrance of the Yushan Flower is the most unique and memorable I’ve ever encountered.”
—Faint yet pervasive, it lingers around you.
When you think you smell it and try hard to catch its scent, it seems almost imperceptible. But when you least expect it, a delicate and refreshing aroma fills your senses.
Like mist, it appears and dissipates, elusive yet ever-present. When you’re feeling down, its fragrance never leaves your side.
“My Xiang’er is just like this Yushan Flower.”
It doesn’t need the flamboyance of a rose or the solitude of lilac.
“It should be the gentlest expression of loving someone,” Chen Yin murmured tenderly.
Xiang’er’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.
Around the courtyard, several Yushan Flower buds swayed in the evening breeze.
Under the moonlight’s soft glow, the flowers suddenly bloomed.
The fragrance intensified, rich and intoxicating, soaking the moonlit night in its dewy aroma.
Xiang’er stood up, watching fireflies dance among the flowers under the moon. Unable to contain her delight, she twirled around joyfully.
Her pale green dress unfurled, blooming quietly like the Yushan Flowers.
Chen Yin watched her spin under the moonlight, a smile tugging at his lips.
