Chapter 94: All Thanks to That Stinky Tofu

Chapter 94: All Thanks to That Stinky Tofu

Outside, Xiaoxiang Medical Hall was particularly peaceful at night.

Chen Yin had just stepped out the door and taken only a few steps when he noticed someone sitting in the courtyard.

Under the cold moonlight, Nan Xiaoxiang’s pristine white dress trailed on the ground, her slender arms gently swaying beneath the tree.

Her eyes were slightly lowered, her expression calm and serene.

"Are you having a bathroom break?"

A sharp, irritating voice suddenly rang out behind her.

Nan Xiaoxiang closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then slowly turned around. "Young Master Chen, having low emotional intelligence isn’t your fault."

"But having low emotional intelligence and still insisting on talking—that is."

Chen Yin scratched his head, looking completely innocent.

"Why are you still awake?"

"Couldn’t sleep. Thought I’d take a walk."

"Heading out for a walk at this hour? I’d wager the place you’re going to is exactly the kind that would keep someone from sleeping."

Nan Xiaoxiang’s tone remained unchanged, but the teasing in her words was unmistakable.

Chen Yin let out an awkward cough and simply grinned, not bothering to argue.

—Judging by her attitude, she was definitely still mad about what happened earlier that day.

"Well then, let’s not bother each other. I’ll be off."

Just as he was about to turn and leave, he heard Nan Xiaoxiang’s lilting voice from behind him:

"Young Master Chen, the night is full of wolves and beasts—aren’t you afraid of being eaten down to the bone?"

Without looking back, Chen Yin simply left her with one quiet remark:

"Wolves can’t eat dragons."

The next moment, a flash of brilliant sword light shimmered in the night, and his figure vanished from the courtyard.

Nan Xiaoxiang stared at the spot where he had disappeared, silent for a long time.

Chen Yin didn’t rush. He kept a steady pace, only speeding up once he left the city, then gradually slowed again.

Eventually, he landed leisurely atop a desolate hill, lazily cradling Changming in his arms.

At some point, a group of cultivators had quietly surrounded him from all sides.

Chen Yin’s expression remained unchanged. He simply smiled faintly, holding his sword while watching them.

"Fellow Daoists, blocking my path so late at night—what might be the meaning of this?"

The cultivators said nothing.

After a long silence, a crisp and deliberate clapping sound echoed from behind.

"Hahaha, very good, very good."

Chen Yin turned his head.

Ju Shaohe strolled forward, surrounded by a group of cultivator attendants, a wide, unsettling smile on his face.

"Chen Yin... is it?"

His grin was almost eerie. "I must say, I really do admire you."

"A mere junior disciple from the Misty Spirit Sect, barely at the Cloud Realm, not only dares to disrespect me, Ju Shaohe, but even dares to steal my woman right in front of me."

"Are you truly unaware of how precarious the Misty Spirit Sect’s situation is, or are you just an idiot?"

Chen Yin’s face was the picture of pure innocence. "What is Young Master Ju talking about? I don’t understand at all."

"Hah, well, you don’t need to understand."

Ju Shaohe’s voice turned cold. "Do it. Seal off his meridians, destroy his Dao foundation, sever his tendons."

"Make him crawl on the ground like a dog."

"Yes, sir!" The attendants responded in unison, then charged toward Chen Yin.

Chen Yin, meanwhile, merely lowered his eyelids slightly, looking as if he hadn’t fully woken up.

—He was thinking.

How to capture Ju Shaohe alive.

As the Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect, Ju Shaohe was only valuable as a bargaining chip if he was alive. If he died, he’d be worthless.

But with all these attendants surrounding him, Chen Yin was genuinely concerned that he might misjudge his strength and accidentally slice the guy into pieces.

Just as he was debating how to lure Ju Shaohe away from his guards—

A peculiar fragrance drifted through the air.

Chen Yin frowned.

As the aggressive attendants closed in on Chen Yin, their steps grew weaker and more sluggish. One by one, they collapsed right in front of him.

Even the guards surrounding Ju Shaohe swayed unsteadily before tumbling to the ground.

Ju Shaohe was the only one still standing, his face filled with confusion and panic. His voice trembled slightly as he demanded, “What— what kind of sorcery did you use?!”

But before he could get an answer, his eyelids grew heavy. Within moments, he, too, slumped to the ground in a deep sleep.

Chen Yin’s gaze swept over the unconscious disciples of the Canghe Sword Sect, his expression contemplative. After a brief pause, he slowly lifted his eyes.

In front of him stood someone he never expected to see here.

Dressed in snow-white robes, Nan Xiaoxiang gracefully stepped forward, her movements as delicate as a lotus blooming in water.

"What a coincidence. Fancy meeting Young Master Chen in a place like this," she said, her voice as calm and elegant as ever.

"Ah, yes, quite the coincidence indeed."

Chen Yin suddenly let out a hearty laugh. "Didn’t Miss Nan have some business to attend to back at the medical hall? What brings you all the way out to this deserted place?"

"Oh! I know!" He clapped his hands dramatically. "You must have been so captivated by my dashing looks and charming demeanor that you couldn't help but follow me, right?"

"Young Master Chen, if you spoke less, you might be slightly less annoying."

Her expression remained indifferent, her bright, intelligent eyes calm and unwavering.

Chen Yin’s smile gradually faded as a flicker of suspicion crossed his face.

"—Did you plan this from the start, or did you just happen to run into me and decide to use me to do your dirty work?"

"I didn't kill anyone."

Under the moonlight, Nan Xiaoxiang’s delicate features appeared even more enchanting. "I told you before—I only save lives, I don’t take them."

"They merely fell unconscious due to my pet Gu insects, that’s all."

"Huh. Never would’ve guessed that Miss Nan knew how to use Gu techniques."

"Medicine and Gu arts go hand in hand. Naturally, I know a thing or two."

—Not a single truthful word.

“A thing or two” in Gu techniques—yet she had managed to knock out this many cultivators without anyone noticing? Who was she trying to fool?

"I've heard that the Wu Xuan Cavern in the Southern Region is infamous for its mastery of Gu techniques, though they've remained hidden from the world, never interfering in worldly affairs."

Chen Yin narrowed his eyes slightly. "Miss Nan, what exactly is your connection to Wu Xuan Cavern?"

Nan Xiaoxiang simply shook her head, her expression serene. "There is no connection."

"I am who I am—Nan Xiaoxiang of Xiaoxiang Medical Hall. I am not a cultivator, nor do I know anything about Wu Xuan Cavern."

"I’m just an ordinary mortal doctor."

Chen Yin lowered his gaze, looking at the motionless bodies scattered across the ground. Then, after a moment, he sighed and shook his head.

"—This is the first time I’ve realized how blind I’ve been."

"Miss Nan, you are far from the simple woman you appear to be."

Nan Xiaoxiang didn’t seem offended. Instead, she tilted her head slightly and smiled.

"As a mere mortal woman trying to survive among so many powerful cultivators, I must have a few tricks up my sleeve, don’t I?"

Chen Yin asked curiously, "Then why didn’t your Gu insects attack me?"

"That’s simple."

Nan Xiaoxiang raised her fair hand, revealing a tiny, almost invisible pale yellow insect resting quietly in her palm.

"This is called the Jade Wither Gu. It’s colorless, scentless, and almost impossible to detect."

"Its only flaw is that it’s highly sensitive to smells—it’s drawn to fragrant scents and repelled by foul odors."

Chen Yin froze for a moment.

Seeing her faintly amused expression, he suddenly understood. He couldn't help but rub his forehead and chuckle.

"So you’re telling me—"

"—I was only spared because I ate that stinky tofu with you earlier today?"
