Chapter 9

First Calamity

Faced with the first 'Red Emergency' notice in a while and the footage of new type of D-Mons rampaging on the city street of Shanghai sent chill to everyone's spine.

While the 'Red Emergency' wasn't that rare, and always used every time the world-scale Disaster happened, this time, the D-Mons that appeared isn't the same as usual.

A giant D-Mons with approximate size around 200 meters when it stands on four legs, the super large wings that knocked down many building with just one flutter. Just it's roar shattered all the window in 1 km radius.

Truly a personification of Monster or Kaiju.

If this world is fiction or movie, now should be the time where giant hero like Ultraman or megazord to appear to fight that monster.

But this is reality.

"I'll go get changed first. Bring Ixy to the teleporter room."

After giving instruction, Master went out of the lab, probably to the locker room.

Yuzuhara-san quickly finished my calibration, and carry me out, followed by some other researcher behind her.

We are now inside an empty lab with special purpose. A circle platform in the middle of the room, connected with many cables and few control panel.

"Quickly turn on the power and set the coordinate to Shanghai city!"

Yuzuhara-san gave order to all other researcher while we stand infront of the monitor, looking at the Calamity still wreck havoc in the city and some Enforcers tried to fight it but can't deal any damage.

No.12, the Sacred Weapon Users based on China, is also fighting it desperately. But faced with that towering presence, even she alone couldn't do much, especially when the part that was attacked with her blasting magic regenerate a moment later to the perfect condition.

A minute later, Master comes, wearing her usual blue combat outfit. Yuzuhara-san brings me to her and then we stand on the cirlce platform on the middle of the lab.

"Are you sure you want to go with this device? We haven't tested it with human yet."

"Don't worried, I believe in Livia-sensei creation. Besides, you can't this machine to anyone other than Sacred Weapon User, they will definitely die.

Oh, please adjust the coordinate a little, set it so you send me to the sky right above that D-Mons."

Hearing that, the researcher in front of the control panel quickly adjusted the number on the machine.

["You are thinking of doing something crazy again."]

"It's not everyday we can use this machine. And coming from the sky definitely will give a better chance of surprise attack than just teleporting normally on the ground. Who knows, maybe we can take it down in one strike?"

["I hate that I couldn't refute that logic."]

"You guys ready?"

Master and I chatted a bit while waiting for the teleportation device activated, before Yuzuhara-san asked that while standing in front of us.

"Ready as ever!"

["I'm just a weapon you know. No matter whether I'm ready or not, I can only go along with my Master here."]

"Oh Ixy, being tsundere again~"

Master hugged me and rubbed her cheeks to my handle again.

Stop it! I'm feeling weird!

Even Yuzuhara-san can't stand to look at us and give the signal for the researcher operator to activate the machine.

"I'll say it always, make sure you two comeback alive."

After Yuzuhara-san said that, me and Master is engulfed with the light from the platform and my vision flickering and went black for a few second.

When I realize it, I can feel the wind.

The machine really worked as intended and now we are falling from the sky 1000 meters above the ground.

"Get ready Ixy!"

Master unsheathe me as we dive straight on top of the Calamity. My blade glowing with the red blood aura as I charged my sacred energy.

As if it is finally sensing our presence, 100 meters above before impact, the Calamity looks up.

"Hello, big guy!"

Master thrusts me straight on the Calamity's head, right between its eyes.

As soon I feel I'm embedded deep inside its flesh, I released all the sacred I gathered.

Combined with the energy from falling from high place, the impact penetrated through the head straight to the other sides with red beam aura, bringing the monster down on the street.

For a moment, there is no more movemebt from the Calamity. I reflexively let out....

["Did we did it---"]

"Ixy why?!"

["Sorry!!"]

If I ever still have mouth and hands, that hands would surely be slapped on my mouth to keep it shut forever.

Because in the usual plot of any media, any time the opponent fall, appeared to be dead, but then some character uttered that kind of 'sacred words', the opponent is definitely not dead.

The Calamity gets up from the ground, but as we still on top of its head, now it was slamming its head to the nearby building, seemingly want to shake us off.

Before the impact happen, Master pulled me out and jumped from its head.

But when it slammed the building, its wings also flapped, hitting Master with the shockwave and she fall uncontrollably.

Before Master hit the ground, a pair of arms caught her in the air and reduced the momentum of the fall.

"Are you okay?"

A red haired woman in red and black chinese dress, she is Sacred Weapon User No.12, Cheng Lingxue.

We descended slowly to the grounds.

"Thank you, jiejie. But excuse me for a second. Bluerghhh."

As soon her feet stands on the ground, Master distance herself from Cheng-san and vomitted her inside on the side road.

The effect of the teleporter is so delayed. Well, I'm glad she didn't throw up while we were still on the air.

"Hey, are you fine?"

Cheng-san approached and rub Master back.

"Yaoyao, use healing on her."

Cheng-san give order to the golden circular object with with star on the inside that floating on her shoulder.

The thing float on top of Master and the star in the middle shine for a moment.

"Ahh, I feel better. Thank you, jiejie. Thank you too, Yaoyao."

"You're welcome."

["I'm just doing what Milady said."]

It's my first time meeting another Sacred Weapon like me, but hey, isn't this one have it easy?

They can fly and move on their own. So unfair!

"That being said, what is the situation right now?"

Master looked at the Calamity that was shaking its head, removing the debris from the building it just slammed down.

"I'm ashamed to say this, but there's already too many victims, both from civilian and Enforcers alike. So I asked all Enforcers to stay back and focusing on protecting the people from Soldier Class D-Mons."

["But as you can see, that thing is not going down at all. No matter what magic we throw at him, it will regenerate in a moment, like that."]

We can clearly see, the injuries it get from our fatal attack from earlier is closing in rapidly until the Calamity back in its prime condition.

It seems it already put a target on us as it's now charging toward us with its big body.

"Uwah~, no way we can defeat it with just two of us."

"THEN HOW ABOUT THREE!"

Someone jumped from behind us straight to the Calamity's charging path. The man, wearing a fiery gauntlets, punched the head of Calamity.

The collision between the two created the sonic boom and stopped the Calamity in its path.

As if knowing it can't move forward, Calamity snapped its head throwing the man to the air. Calamity then opened its mouth, blue energy gathered inside its mouth as it is aiming at the man.

"Shit, he'll be dead if he get blasted with that!"

"Yaoyao!"

["There is no time Milady!"]

Right before Calamity fire the beam, an arrow made of ice hit it's left eyes. Someone else also run from the back alley holding a big black scythe with black aura and slashed one of Calamity's front right leg.

That combination made the Calamity lose it's balance and the beam is shot, but it missed the man and he landed safely on the ground and retreat to the safe area.

The beam obliterate everything in it's path, but I guess it is fortunate that behind us is the sea, not a residential area.

Calamity once again fall to the ground.

In that time, the man with gauntlet and the woman with scythe approach us.

"Are you fine? Need some healing?"

"Hey how does it feel? Stopping that giant D-Mons charging at you with only one punch? That's so cool!"

While Cheng-san asking with some concern towards the man, Master is asking with enthusiasm, and the man replied;

"Right, I thought so too!"

Everyone else can only sigh with this two anomalies, including their Sacred Weapon

"Oh yeah, the arrow from before, that means Ha-jun Oppa! You here too?!"

Master looked around to find another Sacred Weapon User.

"Yeah, I'm up here, the top of the building on your right."

The sounds come from the earpiece in everyone ears. Following that word, everyone looked up to the mentioned building and we can barely see a man with white hair standing at the edge of the rooftop waving at us.

It's nderstandable that he seems to not have any intention to come down, as he is a marksman that specialized in long range attack. No point for him leaving that most advantages position just to chat with us.

"Alright, now there is 5 of us here, anyone have a plan how to deal with that thing? He is getting up again."

The blonde woman with scythe said.

True to what she said, Calamity once again get up and staring at us as if it's holding a grudge.

"Let's talk while we fight. It is coming again. Everyone watch out!"

When Cheng-san said that, Calamity already jumped to us, and everyone dispersed in all different direction.

"Twelve, you are the first one fighting it, anything you want to share with us?" (Scythe)

"As you can all see, this guy regenerates quickly no matter how many attacks it takes. But other than that, its practically just a Soldier Class with giant size." (Cheng-san)

"If its the same as soldier class, then just kill the Rift Master. It will kill this guy the moment that Rift closed right?" (Gauntlet)

While avoiding the attack and sometimes attacking back, the three of them, Cheng-san, gauntlet guy, and scythe woman chatted with ease.

"I scanned the area before coming here, and I don't find any signal of Rift Master."

The bow guy also joins the conversation while giving some back up shooting.

"Well, how do I say this? I talked to Livia-sensei before coming here. This big guy, in a way, is the Rift Master itself?"

""Hah?""

A spontaneous response from everyone for Master revelation.

I didn't hear anything about this, did she talk with Professor Livia before coming to the teleporter room?

"So that Rift will never close until we defeat this guy?" (Cheng-san)

"Can we even defeat it though? He is just going to regenerate again every time it got fatal injuries." (Gauntlet)

"Nine, do you hear anything about how to defeat this thing from Professor?" (Scythe)

"Well, there are two ways to kill it." (Master)

"SO YOU DO KNOW?! JUST TELL US FROM THE START!" (Gauntlet)

"Shut up you muscle head, don't shout in the intercom. Ougasahara, go on." (Bow)

Master, please don't stir up trouble with your teammates.

"First, the most primitive methods, is to slice or crush this giant into tiny pieces in a short time before the it can activate it's regenerative ability." (Master)

"Any of you have an ultimate move to do that kind of things? Because I surely don't have it. Not for the opponent of this size." (Bow)

"Same here, and I'm sure Three doesn't have either." (Scythe)

"Yeah right." (Gauntlet)

"What is the second one?" (Cheng-san)

"That is to destroy it's core." (Master)

"Core? Something like a heart?" (Gauntlet)

"Since this one is pretty much a Rift Master, then I guess the core is that black Orb that controling the Rift, right?" (Scythe)

"Yeah, that one." (Master)

Everyone become silent the moment Master confirm that. Master once again, swings me to the base of Calamity's wings, with intention to cut it off, but the cut is too shallow that it regenerate back in seconds.

"Ougasahara, isn't the second method just more impossible? First we don't know where that orb is located in this big body, and second, that Orb is not a physical object." (Bow)

I agree with him.

There is a reason why Sacred Weapon Users and all Enforcers always targetting the main body of Rift Master.

Sure one is because the body is easier to hit because of size of the Orb is small compared to it's body.

However, the second reason is because that Orb just cannot be targeted. Any kind of attack will pass through the Orb as if it is never there.

Professor Livia explained that those Orb is just a pure mysterious energy having a visible form of a ball.

We cannot destroy something we cannot touch.

"No, it is possible. But just not for us. The only who can pull this off is Grandpa Henry."

"Hoho, it just seems like this D-Mon's is created just to be defeated by me." (???)

""That voice!!"" (Everyone)

"Granpa, you here?!"

Master instantly lit up and looked around frantically to find the owner of that voice.

Because she is too focused on searching for the old man in question, Master doesn't realize the Calamity is picking up the rubble and throwing it at her.

"Master, watch--"

"You shouldn't lose your focus in battle, young lady."

A white haired old man with butler-like attire appeared between Master and the coming rubbles. He pick up his cane and pointed it at the rubbles and in an instant everything disappear like it was never there to begin with.

"Greeting, Ougasahara Young Lady. It is our first meeting face to face. My name is Hein--"

"Granpa Henry, you came!"

Without waiting for the old man to finish his introduction, Master lunges at him and hug him.

The old man is a little taken back, but just smiled helplessly while rubbing Master's hair.

"Alright alright, you can call me Granpa all you want. I really get myself a Japanese grandchild all of sudden, hahaha."

Master looked up and smiled like an idiot, clearly enjoying the old man treatment to her.

This older gentleman is Sacred Weapon User No.1, Heinrich Müller, from Germany.

But Master, what is this demeanor of a spoiled child to a man you meet for the first time?

"Congratulation for you family reunion drama, but can we have Ougasahara back to focus on this guy." (Bow)

"I would really appreciate it if Ougasahara-san can give us the hint to defeat this thing." (Cheng-san)

"That's right, young lady. This Grandpa would also like to hear about your plan that involve this old man."

Müller-san pushed Master to release her hug and asks her with seriousness.

"That's easy, Grandpa! Your Sacred Weapon special skill, the 'Absorption' can do that! Isn't that right, Ars?"

Master revelation shocked some of us, but I guess the reason is different for each person.

Muller-san's seems really baffled by Master easily calling his Sacred Weapon's name with confidence.

"How do you--?"

["Do you know me?"]

The cane spoke with a hint of wariness.

"Ahh! No, please don't think of me as suspicious. I just heard many stories from Livia-sensei about everyone so I just blurted it out without thinking. Sorry!"

["That old witch."]

Uwah, seems like there is a grudge between Ars-san with Professor Livia. Master, please don't get involved in it any further.

"Alright, it's good now we have a clear winning condition. But we still have one problem. It could be anywhere at this point. So do you have any idea where that Orb is, Ougasahara? " (Bow)

"I don't know....." (Master)

"Don't screw with me!" (Gauntlet)

"....but there is a way to find it, and I will need everyone's cooperation." (Master)

"Just give your order. I want this problem solved as fast as possible for my country." (Cheng-san)

"Well then, I won't hold back. Everyone else except Granpa, must attack it will all our might. Now matter where and how, just give it many injuries." (Master)

"Huh? But isn't it just going to regenerate. It will be pointless for us." (Scythe)

"No, that is the point. We want to it to regenerate. Keep your eyes peeled to all it's injuries. Track how long for the injury you gave it to heal. The place with the fastest regeneration than the others is where the Orb's hidden.

Everyone, give it your all!"

""Roger!""

After Master give that command, the other four instantly change their strategy from stalling and evading, to straight up bombarding the Calamity with their special attacks in many places.

After briefing Müller-san about the detail, me and Master also join in the fray.

The Calamity is just too big, so it's takes a while before we done scanning it's whole body with this method and everyone is already at their limit.

"I find it. On it's back, near the base of it's left wing. The injury in that part just instantly healed in a second."

When we got the report from the bow guy, everyone was already in a mess.

"Got it, Oppa. Everyone, for the last time. Give it your best shots at that point!"

"I'll start first to mark the place."

After the bow guy say that, a giant arrow made of ice strike at that one specific point with great momentum that send the Calamity staggering.

The gauntlet guy followed by jumped from high building, his gauntlets engulfed with bright flame as he punch the flesh that was frozen from the ice arrow.

An explosion occurs, the Calamity fallen once again. But this time, we would not give it any leeway. Master and Scythe woman stands in front of Cheng-san, receiving a buff magic from her.

I can feel the Sacred energy inside me greatly increased.

By the time the smoke dissipate, revealing a frozen and burned scars on the back of Calamity.

"Let's go, Alisa-san!" 

"Yes!"

Master and Scythe woman with superhuman speed moved to the targeted area and slashes brutally in that one spot.

Master and Scythe woman quickly moved away after sometimes rampaging because Cheng-san would be going next.

Cheng-san flying on the sky, both hands up holding a big ball of magic with Sacred power.

"This is the accumulated resentment from my country, you bastard!"

And she throwing that giant ball of energy straight to the point with so many scars and injuries.

Another explosion happens, bigger than the last time. When the smoke dissipate, a big black orb finally revealed, where half of it is still embedded in the flesh of the Calamity, that is slowly healing back.

"Grandpa!"

Like it was a teleportation, Müller-san appeared right above that orb. He pointed his cane to the Orb and bright light shine from the tip of his cane.

The orb shake a little, but then it was gone. Along with that orb, the Rift in the sky also closed in an instant and Calamity regeneration stopped.

When Müller-san comes down from the dead Calamity and regroup with everyone, Master and go to him like she was expecting a praise.

Müller-san smiled helplessly and rubbed Master's head with tenderness.

"You did great, young lady. This grandpa is so proud of you."

"Ehehe."

Such an innocent laugh from Master.

The scythe woman comes closer from behind Master with curiosity. Master realize that and take her hand and switched position with her. Her eyes as if signaling Müller-san to do the same thing to her.

Once again with helpless smile, he rubbed the scythe woman's head.

"Hehe, Grandpa~" That woman blurted it out unconsciously, in which she quickly covered her mouth when she realize it.

"Ahahaha, just in a day I got two cute granddaughters. This old man is happy, haha."

The scene after disaster is just too heartwarming everyone else can only smile looking at the interaction between the old man and this two new acquired granddaughters.

'Growl~~'

The scene is interrupted with the sound from gauntlet guy stomach.

"Sorry, all that battle make me hungry. Is there a good restaurant you can recommend around here?"

With a guilty look, he shyly asks.

A helicopter approach from a distance.

"Good timing. Then as the representative of this country. Let me serve you all the heroes here with full service from China."

Cheng-san smiled confidently.

It was dinner time, all six of Sacred Weapon Users are inside one the most famous restaurant in China.

The whole restaurant is booked for the night just for six of them.

After the dishes were server, the gauntlet guy asked:

"Hey, I know we are heroes or something like that today, but is it really fine to reserve the whole restaurant just for us? The higher up in this country will not complain right?"

All the woman, including Master were holding their laughter, the bow guy facepalmed, and Müller-san shake his head.

The gauntlet guy looks confused.

"What? Did I say something wrong?"

"Do you know this woman?"

The boy guy beside him pointed at Cheng-san, who sat in the middle between Master and scythe woman.

"What do you mean in asking that? She is No.12, right?"

Should I say this guy is just too innocent or too oblivious.

"Ahem, let me properly introduce you. Yes, she is No.12. Her name is Cheng Lingxue...."

Scythe woman begin, and Master finishes it.

"... She is the President of China."

"Eh?"

The gauntlet guy blinked.

"Ehhhhhhhh?"

And just like that, our first battle against Calamity ended with laughter and harmonious atmosphere between all the present 6 member of Sacred Weapon Users.
