Chapter 1: Ah, What a Pain
Ah, what a pain.
Sorry for the sudden question, but do you know the term “isekai reincarnation”?
I didn’t know it until I reincarnated myself, and I don’t think it was a particularly well-known term in my original world either. It means exactly what it sounds like—dying and being reborn in another world. In those cases, people usually retain memories of their previous life, and often gain some sort of special ability.
To put it another way… maybe “starting a new game with cheat stats” makes it clearer?
Not that I was strong or anything in my past life, though. Ah-ha-ha-ha.
For example, I’m originally from a place called Tokyo, in a country called Japan, on a planet called Earth. Well, I doubt you care, so I’ll skip the details. The point is, in this world, while not all that numerous, there’s a surprisingly large percentage of people like me, and they often end up in pretty important positions.
Heroes, adventurers, saints, inventors, company presidents, nobles… That sort of thing. Seems like most of them just pick and choose from those roles.
I can’t imagine why they’d willingly take on something so troublesome. It’s as insignificant as a pebble on the roadside, but I can’t help but respect their determination.
Why am I even talking about this…?
…Huh? Wait. Why am I wasting my breath on such pointless stuff in the first place?
"…This is a direct order from the Demon Lord himself. At least write the report properly!"
Noisy.
To escape the shrill voice screeching right beside my ear, I leaned on my fluffy bed and rolled over.
I glanced at the woman who was shouting right by my ear, dressed entirely in black.
She looked like a doll—cold and expressionless. Without question, a peerless beauty.
What a pointless thing.
Resting my head on my pillow, I gazed at the woman glaring at me—one of the knights under the great Demon Lord, the King of Ruin, Kanon.
"So… what was it again?"
"The report! I’m the one who gets scolded, you know!? All the others assigned to different Demon Lords are carrying out their missions properly, and yet you…"
"That’s rough."
"Enough already! Re-poooort!"
I don’t get it.
Why the hell do I have to bother with something like that?
Tired of propping myself up, I buried my face back into the pillow. What a waste of energy over something so meaningless.
My shoulders were shaken roughly. Her squeaky voice grated on my ears, unbearably annoying.
I raised just my head and looked at the woman, apparently one of the Demon Lord’s closest aides.
Seriously, instead of nagging me, just do your job properly.
"You, write the report."
"H…huh!? Wh-why me!? And what exactly am I even supposed to write…?"
"Up to you. I’m busy."
As I grabbed my down blanket and tried to crawl under, she seized my arm.
God, what a pain. Even after all that, she still insists on bothering me.
So dull. So tiresome. I don’t care about anything anymore.
Wait, what even is this report supposed to be?
"Besides, it was the Demon Lord who said it, wasn’t it!? Write it because talking’s a hassle, so he’ll just explain it and you can write it down—that’s what he told you!"
"…Talking’s a hassle too, so just write it however you want."
I tossed a square box lying on the bedding toward her.
A seal. Apparently, you need to stamp reports with it. Too much effort to fetch it each time, so I keep it tucked in my blankets for convenience.
Either way, whether I tell her and she writes it, or she just makes it up on her own, the end result’s bound to turn into some fantasy nonsense.
She caught it in a fluster, staring at it blankly.
"…Well, later then."
"Huh!? Wait a second—hey, hold on! This is… hey!"
This time, I completely ignored her shrieking and pulled the blanket over my head.
Within seconds, consciousness drifted away. Her screeching faded further and further until it slipped right out of my awareness.
Hmm, there was something else I was supposed to say at the end. What was it?
Right… my name.
My name is Lazy Slaughterdolls. I’ve long since forgotten what my name was back in Japan.
Back then, I was just a humble salaryman devoting myself to a company on Earth. Now, I’m just another humble Demon King devoting myself to the Demon Lord.
