Chapter 4: La Passion 2
Rain poured, but of course I already had an Adidas umbrella prepared. It was as if the sky cried for someone. The rain grew heavier and the wind grew stronger, indicating the sky wept for someone important, a close confidant or something like that.
"lick. slurp. peroperopero. Nom."
I held the umbrella in one hand and an ice cream cone in the other, licking and slurping as I went. Balancing both was no small feat for ordinary people, but I was Nano Dextuh. Not ordinary—brilliant, in fact. If I’d taken math seriously, I might have snagged first place at the Olympiad.
The path I usually took from the grocery store to home wasn't suited for a rainy day like this, so I took a detour through the park and into a densely packed residential area. There, sitting in the middle of the road, was someone who looked like a teenager like me (if I hadn’t been regressed into a kid for the time being)
His clothes were soaked and his head bowed to the pavement. I couldn’t hear anything until I got closer and realized he was crying.
"... Why are you sitting in the road, why not sit in the chair?"
Curious, I glanced at him. To my surprise, it was Shinji. A boy in my class who was also being bullied by Tanaka the bully.
"The rain is a water isn't it?"
No answer came from him, even a little bit talk could be appreciated. But he was like an unresponsive person. His eyes seem dead to me and lifeless too, like he loss someone important to him or something like that.
Feeling a little mischievous, I poked him. He didn’t react. Time to up my game: he would be my blank canvas and I would be the artist. First, a whisker on his cheek, then a mustache, then a monocle.
Perhaps annoyed or something tickled his face, a pair of lifeless eyes looked at me. It gradually gained a color, and then his face contorted.
“Little sister… is that you? I’m such a stupid brother… I lost my sister,” he croaked.
Who the heck is your little sister, I'm Nano Dextuh.
“After that accident, I always missed you. You must be disappointed in me… I’m worthless,” he went on.
Wow, seriously. We just met today and an info dump this soon. Not that I'm complaining, rather this made the whole plan easier.
"That Tanaka stole her. It's over."
".... Want a revenge?"
“Revenge? Useless." He shrugged, "What’s the point? This brother of yours is too weak,” he replied.
When would he stop confusing me for his sister? What a damn siscon.
"Take my hand."
"Hm...?"
“I’ll teach you La Passion—the art of becoming stronger.”
He lifted his head to look at me, then asked in a low voice. A clear resolute eyes was now on him.
"Revenge? La Passion?"
"Yeah, La Passion 🔥🔥🔥"
I smiled, grabbed his hand, and he muttered a small reply.
"Okay, little sis. La Passion. I will gladly do it.
"Oh, by the way. I'm not your little sister."
His face changed from this to 😊 this 😭
