Chapter 1: Boobs Are the Best!
Ordinary.
Some people see that word as a compliment. Others see it as an insult.
I was the former.
All through elementary school, middle school, high school, and even college, I believed being ordinary was fine.
But once I entered the working world, that belief began to waver.
There’s nothing particularly charming about someone like me. I don’t have any special hobbies. My life is nothing more than a loop between home and the office.
It’s only been three years since I started working, yet I’m already exhausted by it.
The thought that this will continue for decades… terrifies me.
So please, God. Make my life more exciting.
I prayed that a week ago. And yesterday, my wish came true.
I became one of the absolute winners among men worldwide.
But at the same time… I lost something very important.
“Senpai, how do you do this part?”
While I sat at my desk, staring at the computer screen, the junior beside me held out some papers and asked.
“Oh, that’s easy. You just…”
I’ve only been with this company for three years, but I’ve been trusted with a decent amount of work. Some might see it as the higher-ups having faith in me; others might say I’m just being dumped extra tasks.
I choose to see it as the former. Otherwise, working late into the night like this would be unbearable.
“Thank you so much! Senpai, you’re amazing!”
It wasn’t anything particularly difficult I explained, yet she praised me with the cutest smile.
Honestly, the reason I’ve managed to survive in this company is thanks to the junior who joined a year ago.
Her name is Kana Akeura. She’s one year younger than me. Well, technically she repeated a year, so she’s actually two years my junior in company terms.
She has an adorably youthful face and isn’t very tall—probably around 150 centimeters. Her neatly cut black hair falls to her shoulders, adding to her doll-like charm.
And above all, the way her black suit strains against her chest is… a threat in itself.
I have to focus all my willpower not to let my eyes drift there. I want to be a good senpai, after all.
“It’s fine. But sorry for keeping you here so late.”
It was already 9 p.m., and by then only Akeura and I remained in the office.
“I don’t mind, but are you okay, Senpai? You’ve been working overtime nonstop lately.”
“Just some deadlines piling up. But with your help today, I think I’ll manage.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
She gave me a bright smile. That smile alone makes me want to keep pushing forward.
“Really, thank you. Let me treat you to dinner sometime.”
“Seriously? Thank you! How much longer do you have left today, Senpai?”
“I think I’m done for now… If I work a bit hard next week, I should be fine. Let’s call it a night. You should go home too. And hey, make sure you record your overtime.”
Anti–black company policy!
I’ll sacrifice myself as much as needed, but not this girl. If she quit, I’d probably quit too. Sure, part of it’s that she’s a source of comfort, but honestly, I just can’t handle any more work being dumped on me.
“Then, Senpai, treat me after this, okay?”
“After this?”
It’s already 9, so the number of open places is pretty limited…
“Come on, tomorrow’s a day off. Let’s go get a drink!”
Well, it is Friday, and tomorrow’s Saturday. Not a bad idea.
Bars can be pricey, but since I don’t have hobbies, I hardly spend money anyway. And honestly, having a drink with a cute girl like her? Totally worth it.
“Alright, let’s go. How about somewhere nearby?”
“Yes! Please!”
We cleaned up, left the office together, and headed for an
close by.Once we sat down and opened the menus, I asked, “What’ll you have, Akeura?”
“Oh, beer’s fine.”
“You drink beer? It’s not a company drinking party—you don’t have to force yourself. I’m just getting a cocktail.”
What’s with that tradition of ordering beer first at company parties anyway? Sure, it’s quick and easy, but not everyone likes it.
“Really? Then I’ll have a
.”So girly! I don’t even know what that is.
We ordered drinks and snacks, clinked glasses, and started eating.
“This is tasty.”
“Yeah. Knowing tomorrow’s a holiday makes me want to drink more.”
“Totally.”
Since I hadn’t eaten since noon, the alcohol hit me faster than usual.
“Senpai, you really are good at your job.”
“Nah, not really. You’ll get used to it soon.”
“No way. Even the department head was praising you. He said, ‘That guy’s capable, so I’m counting on him.’”
Nice words, but how about reflecting that in my paycheck? It doesn’t add up.
“You think so?”
“I know so. So what do you usually do when you’re at home, Senpai?”
Ugh, I hate that question…
“Not much, really. Just watching videos or playing mobile games.”
And yeah, totally free-to-play.
“Wow, that’s basically the same as me. Don’t you have a girlfriend?”
Another landmine question…
“Nope. Never have.”
The regret… it stings.
“No way! Really? You totally look like someone who’d be popular.”
Ah yes, one of the three biggest lies in the world: “It’s just a break,” “I’ll come if I can,” and “You look like you’d have a girlfriend.”
“Not at all. What about you, Akeura-chan?”
“Me? No boyfriend. I wouldn’t be out drinking alone with a senpai if I had one.”
Fair point.
“Honestly, you seem like you’d definitely have a boyfriend, though.”
Cute, petite… and well-endowed.
“Not at all. I’ve never had one either. But Senpai, I’m sure you’re popular.”
“Not even close.”
“Ehh…”
Her cheeks flushed pink, maybe from the alcohol, as she looked at me doubtfully.
By then, I was already drunk. And that’s why I ended up saying something I would never normally say.
“Then… Kana, would you go out with me?”
Truth be told, this was actually my very first confession. Not that it was serious—it was almost a joke. That way, even if she rejected me, it wouldn’t hurt. I could just laugh it off.
“…Sure.”
“Huh?”
Wait. What?
“I said sure. I’ll go out with you.”
…………What?
What? What??
“R-really?”
“Wait… were you joking?”
Kana looked at me, shock written across her face.
“No, I’m serious. I just figured you’d brush it off.”
“I see. Well, I answered seriously too.”
…No way.
Thank you, God. You really did grant my wish! I swear I’ll toss 10,000 yen into the offering box next time!
We kept drinking after that, but unlike before, silence lingered between us. Honestly, it was embarrassing. Just a little while ago, she was my coworker. Now, suddenly, she was my girlfriend.
And not just any girlfriend—an unbelievably cute one.
“S-so… maybe we should get going.”
“Y-yeah, let’s.”
We settled the bill and stepped outside. Kana bowed politely.
“Thank you for the meal.”
“No, thank you for all the help today.”
“Hehe, it feels so formal though.”
Well, it was technically a thank-you for her help with work.
“
, want to go for another drink?”“Another?”
“Yeah. That first round was for thanking my junior at work. But now… I want to have a drink with my girlfriend.”
“Yes.”
Kana smiled happily.
“So, where should we go?”
“Hmm… I’d like that, but there aren’t many places around here, are there?”
She was right. This was pretty much the only izakaya nearby. We could head back toward the station, but it was already late.
“Want to come over to my place?”
“Eh?”
Oh crap. I’m getting way too full of myself here!
“I-I mean, my place is close by. We could grab some drinks at the convenience store and have them there. I’ll call a taxi for you later.”
“…I see. Then… I’ll come over.”
Her cheeks flushed pink as she looked down and nodded.
We bought drinks and snacks at the convenience store, then walked side by side toward my place. Suddenly, Kana slipped her hand into mine without a word.
I glanced over—her head lowered, face bright red.
Neither of us spoke as we walked, hand in hand, until we reached my building.
“So this is your place, Senpai?”
She looked up at the apartment.
I lived in a one-bedroom unit in a three-story complex. Honestly, if I had to pay normal rent, I couldn’t afford it.
“Yeah. It’s actually owned by some relatives. They rent it to me dirt cheap.”
“Wow…”
Still holding hands, we went inside and climbed to the third floor. I pulled out my keys, unlocked the door, and pushed it open.
“Sorry if it’s a bit messy.”
“It’s fine.”
I stepped in first, flicked on the lights, and led her into the living room.
“Wow, even a counter kitchen. That’s impressive.”
Kana looked around with fascination.
“Yeah, it’s nice being able to cook while watching TV.”
“Sounds great.”
“Go ahead and sit down.”
I gestured to the sofa.
“Excuse me…”
She perched herself delicately on the sofa, while I set the shopping bags on the low table in front of it. Then I froze for a second, unsure where I should sit.
The sofa wasn’t really for two—it was more of a one-and-a-half seater. Fine for one, but tight for two.
“Senpai?”
Kana tilted her head at me curiously.
“O-oh, sorry. Here.”
Trying to play it off, I handed her drink to her and sat beside her. Because the sofa was small, her shoulder and leg pressed against mine.
“Th-thank you.”
“S-sure. Let’s… drink.”
“Y-yeah.”
Almost pressed together, we opened our drinks, clinked them, and started sipping. Conversation was awkward at first, but thanks to the alcohol, the tension gradually faded.
“I never expected you to confess to me, Senpai.”
“Really?”
“I honestly thought you only saw me as your junior.”
Well… she wasn’t wrong. I liked her, sure, but she always felt out of my league.
“And I never thought you’d actually say yes.”
“Ahaha, really?”
“Yeah.”
“Um… sorry, I’m feeling a little hot. I’ll take this off.”
Kana set her drink down and started slipping off her jacket.
“Well, it is June already. Want me to turn on the AC?”
“It’s not that bad… there, phew.”
Kana removed her jacket on the cramped sofa. In doing so, her body leaned forward, pushing her chest out. Her white blouse strained against her full breasts, filling my vision.
Even after she’d taken the jacket off, that generous chest continued to assert its presence.
“Senpai?”
Ignoring her question, I set my drink down on the low table and took her hand.
“Ah…”
Kana let out a small gasp, cheeks flushing as I held her hand.
After that, she couldn’t speak. Of course, neither could I.
I kissed her, and right there, I pushed her down onto the sofa.
“…And then—”
“Hold it right there.”
A ponytailed woman with light-brown hair interrupted me.
“What? I haven’t even gotten to the important part yet.”
“Seriously, what the hell are we even listening to?”
“Yeah, for real. Is this like… a smut novel or something?”
The short-haired blonde, with a flashy, gal-like vibe, nodded in agreement.
“No! I’m telling you, this is the cause of what happened to me. It’s the truth.”
“This guy was seriously living the dream, nya.”
A black-haired girl with twin-tails chimed in, ending her sentence with a weird cat-like “nya.”
“That’s right… I was living the dream. I was a winner… I really was! But that doesn’t matter now, so just shut up and listen, okay?”
“F-fine.”
“Alright, got it.”
“Pfft, sounds like he just wants to brag, nya.”
I ignored them and continued my story.
