Chapter 2: A fresh start, sort of
The moment 'he stepped out of the door and closed it, 'she' was on the other side of the door. Her body feels kind of foreign.
There is fresh air, throughout her skin to her nostrils. There is green lively grass swaying by the wind.
There are some birds, chirping. Unlike in the city where all she hears are cars and horns and very loud speakers.
There seems to be no pollution. She's standing on a very vast, peaceful scenery grassfield. The nature. Like a province. But without any houses.
"Wow..." she's in awe. Her expression is mostly blank, but her eyes say otherwise.
She stood there for a while. She is just breathing the air of this new environment in. The clean scent of nature was almost overwhelming, almost took over her and made her forget everything.
"This feels nice." she murmured, her voice soft.
Then, she froze. She has just heard a voice different from 'his'.
It was lighter, and higher. And cute, even.
She placed her hands on her neck. She feels her own smooth neck. "Testing, testing. Hello? Helloooo? Woah."
'Oh, yeah. That was definitely a girl's voice.' she thought.
She did not even notice how she turned into a girl. It was as if it was her natural body. She didn't feel her male body deforming at all. It was strange. But then, it's a god so it's not that strange anymore.
She then made a tiny smirk.
"Heh. Not bad? This voice seems pretty cute, actually."
But then, her mood instantly changes as she frowns.
".... but I guess, I kind of hoped it would be a little sexier, though. Well, I'm too late to complain now."
She never really specified anything beyond her request to be beautiful. So she had no one to blame but herself. She has learned a lesson. That is, you should always be specific when making a wish and not be hasty. Just like a genie who somehow can turn your wish upside down.
She then glanced behind her. The door she came through was not there anymore.
"Figures..." she shrugged. There is no going back, just forward.
When she glanced down, she noticed she was holding something. The thing is rectangle, has a thick cover, and has pages. She is holding a book.
The cover has that fantasy aesthetic. Its title is 'How to use Magic'.
"This must be what he meant by how I'll figure out everything myself..." she said. Then, she sighs. "I have to study it... myself... yeah, that's actually alright."
She just shrugged the idea off her again.
The author of the book were just scribbles in fancy golden letters. Though, she already has an idea whose signature it was. No name, just a signature under the author.
As she opened the cover, a folded piece of paper slipped out and fluttered to the ground. She crunches down and unfolds it.
The handwriting was cursive, as if she came back to the times where English was spoken very flowery. Still, it was readable. Unlike some, or most ancient books.
'Hey kid.
I can't let my otherwolder guests keep dying so fast, you see. Figured you may need a little help starting out. So, here's the deal.
The book you're holding? I gave it some little extra ability. For the next three days, it is a total beast. Even if you don't know a single spell at all considering you're literally just new, you can smack anything with it and boom, dead. Even a dragon. Amazing, right? Of course. Even a dragon is nothing but a pet dog to me.
Here's the twist though. After three days, it goes back to being a regular magic guide. So, uh, maybe learn some actual magic before then. Don't worry though. They're actually pretty easy, and you chose the path of magic. Well, unless you're actually pretty too slow...
Either way, learn them yourself. Three days is enough.
Goodluck,
God. The creator of the beginning and everything.'
After reading the note, she stared at it for a moment. Then softly, with no real urgency, she muttered. "Woah."
She puts the note back in the book and closes it.
Her curiosity piqued. She finally took the time to examine herself, his new body.
She wore a black with a hint of blue robe with fine quality.
Her hands were small now. It is slender, smooth, with not a single scar or roughness left from her old life. She flexed her hands, experimentally.
"... woah. these are kinda cute."
Her arms matched. Slim and pale. Then, strands of silky black hair came into her vision. She grabbed a handful of them, pulling it forward. They were long, straight, and surprisingly soft.
"Neat."
Her eyes then drifted downwards. To her chest...
"Oh."
There was some cleavage there. Just a little though.
Her hand twitched.
For one fleeting, very human moment, she considered touching them. Just to confirm if they were real and truly hers. You know? Science.
But then she remembered she was outside. Even if no one seemed to be around, what if someone was watching?
"Yeah… no. That’s a private activity." She stepped back, coughing awkwardly.
Still, the size left her... kinda conflicted. She poked her cheeks thoughtfully.
"Hmmm... maybe this was just... god's preference of beauty?"
A brief pause.
Then, she clasped her hands together in prayer.
"Sorry, God. I shouldn't judge. I am but a mortal. Immature to question your decisions. And you gave me a second chance in life, after all. So I should be grateful."
Nearby, there was a small pond. It came at a right timing when she was just hoping to see her face on a mirror.
Curious, she walked over and leaned over the water's surface.
A young girl's face is staring back at her. Round cheeks, bright eyes, and flawless skin. She is beautiful, yes. However, she is very much a teenager.
"... huh."
For a moment, she was silent. She rubs her chin.
"Maybe this is just... God's preference again." She couldn't help but blurt those words out.
Her hands came together once again. "Sorry."
Still, on the bright side, she couldn't deny that she's cute. Super cute. And maybe in a few years, she'd grow into someone very mature looking.
But then something odd clicked her mind. Her face was familiar.
"Wait a sec..."
Her lips twisted into a wry smile.
"This kind of looks like me. My old face. Just... younger. About sixteen or seventeen. And maybe after a few expensive cosmetic surgeries."
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the bushes. She turned just in time to see a rabbit hop into view.
A very cute rabbit. Though, it has one sharp looking horn on its forhead.
She blinked. "Oh no. I've read enough isekai to know where this is going."
Sure enough, the creature crunched low, and leapt straight at her.
Startled, she reacts on pure instinct. She raises the book like a shield as he closes her eyes shut from shock.
Splat! The sound was wet.
When she finally dared to peek. Her eyes were instantly filled with red. Warm, sticky blood coated her from head to toe and even her new clothes, with blood.
There was no more rabbit. Just its lonely horn lying on the ground.
Her jaw dropped.
"Gyaaaahhhhhh!!???" she screamed, flailing her arms. "Uwaaahhhhhh!!! Gross, gross, gross!!!"
All thanks to the book.
