Intro 3: Rainy Day, Rainy Heart

"Move out, give a way for the medic!"

"Everyone, please stay back! Give room for the injured!"

"Hey, her pulse is very weak, we must move on fast if we still want to have a chance to save her!"

"Bring out the stretcher! Be quick!"

That day was raining heavily. The crowd was forming around someone gravely injured in a pool of blood and was checked by the paramedics.

No sound could come out from my mouth, I felt my breath stopped, my heart went cold, my feet petrified on the floor a distance away from the crowds as that figure was moved cautiously to the stretcher by the paramedics and they all got inside the ambulance.

Only when the vehicle was gone and the crowds dispersed, sound finally returned to me, but I could only uttered the single word.

The sound that was drowned in vanity of the rain.

"Kaa-san..."

After that, my father, along with everyone came and get me by the car, and we all went to the hospital she was admitted to.

We all sat in the waiting lounge of the ICU room.

Shizu just sat in silence, looking at the ICU door so intensely, Yuuki was crying, while Nao, although he didn't cry, he was definitely in distraught.

Father was trying his best to calm Yuuki and Nao, reassuring them that mother would be fine just like everytime she was admitted to the hospital countless time before.

But I could see it in his eyes, that even he himself doubting what he had just said.

Yuuichi and Ren sat on each of my side, asking me what had happened that led to all of this.

Mother was just about to go shopping for the birthday cake for Yuuki and Nao's birthday tonight.

I volunteered to help her because I was the first one home since my teacher had an urgent business and all student in the class was free to leave early.

On our way home, it suddenly rained and we both decided to take shelter in front of the closed cafe, under it's awning.

None of us knew that it would rain today, so we didn't bring an umbrella and just decided to wait there until the rain subdued a little.

The cafe was located right in front of the intersection and traffic light, then there also others who decided to take refugee there because they didn't have an umbrella.

Some were leaving after the rain became a bit lighter, running fast across the street, but some also decided to stay, like me and mother and one other person, a woman.

Mother was a bit frail lately. So we didn't want to take a risk and let her get cold from the rain.

It hasn't even been a week since her last visit to hospital.

So we were just quietly standing there, under the shade, while waiting for the rain to stop.

Then, it all happened so fast.

The rain suddenly stopped for a moment. I turned my head to where the winds came from, saw a still dark cloud in the sky and instantly knew that was just the case of brief suspension before another heavy rain would hit again.

I knew that, and I think mother knew it too. But the other person there, the woman, clearly didn't.

I was wondering about whether should I warn her or not, but too late, because the moment the rain stopped, she started walking across the street.

Right when she was in the middle of the street, a strong gust of wind hits her and it rained more heavily again.

The woman balance was momentarily disrupted because of the wind and rain, and maybe she didn't realize that she had stopped in the middle of the street.

Far away, I saw a big truck driving fast in the middle of this rain, right in the track that would hit that woman.

The heavy rain probably reduced the visibility, and by the time the driver would see the woman, even the full brake wouldn't save her, especially in the slippery road.

I screamed to warn her, but the rain blocked my voice from completely reaching her.

And in that moment--

Mother ran to her, pushed the woman forward and...

'Crash!'

....My world turned gray.

The box containing birthday cake in my hand fell to the ground, smashed just like her.

Many passerby came close to mother but I remain unmoved in my place.

Someone most likely had called the ambulance for her, and then they all gone.

Mother.

The ambulance.

The crowds.

Just me left who remained petrified like a statue in my place, until father picked me up.

Ren and Yuuichi was silent the whole time when I told them the story. Even when the story was over, they still couldn't say anything.

I lowered my head, my hand clenched tight on my lap that I think it already bleed for a while.

Yuuichi reaching his hand and put it on mine. I think I know what he's trying to say or do. But...

"It is my fault--"

"No, that is not your fault, Haruka. It is just an accident. You didn't do anything wro--"

"That is exactly why it is my fault! Because I didn't do anything!"

"Ha-Haruka....?"

"I'm the first one to notice about that rain pattern. I should've warned that women or stopped her from crossing the street. If only I did that...

If only I did just that.....

... Kaa-san wouldn't be in ICU."

Regret welling up inside of me.

A sense of helplessness.

If only I did this....

If only I did that....

All that futile 'if wishes' that would not ever be answered.

While Yuuichi and Ren was silent, didn't know how to comfort me, all my focus was directed to the ICU room, trying to hear any sound from the inside, no matter how small it is.

I heard the footstep coming out. The light of ICU sign on the door turned off and the door opened a moment later by a doctor.

Seeing him, father stood and come up to him.

"How is my wife, doctor?"

The doctor didn't say anything. He looked over to all of us for a brief moment, before facing father again with eyes that hold deep emotion.

He shook his head slowly while closing his eyes.

He didn't answer it verbally, but the answer was loud enough to shatter everything inside of me.

'I will never be able to apologize to her.'

There was a theologian and philosopher from Germany, that once said: "The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake,"

That day, in that rainy day, one boy learned the meaning of that quote the hard way.

At the day of funeral, the sky was cloudy, but it hadn't rained yet.

The whole process took almost a full day. From the parting speech, cremation, and the putting up the grave stone that beared the name "Mizuno Ayaka" on the surface in their local cemetary.

Family members, relatives, friends, work colleague, acquaintance, and all. All of them attended the funeral and took their turn in giving her their last regard.

Everyone, except for a boy, who just stood under the big tree in the cemetery, quite far away from the crowd.

He is Haruka, Mizuno Haruka.

He's been standing there since the beginning. Didn't even dare to come near. He has seen the whole process of without ever getting close to the where the crowd were.

He felt inadequate.

Felt himself wasn't worth to be near her or wherever that bears her presence.

Because, while it wasn't necessarily his fault she died, he beared the price of his inaction.

He shouldn't think hard about it at that time and just quickly warned or stopped that woman from crossing the street.

But it all already happened, and she will never come back again.

'Tap'

He felt someone tapping his shoulder, and he glanced to see Ren, his cousin, standing beside him.

"You're not going there?"

Haruka put his gaze back to the crowd and slowly shake his head.

"Do I even have the right?"

"You do, right? You're one of her sons."

"...."

"Listen, I know how you feel--"

"You're not--"

"No, I know! Remember why I became part this family? Ayaka-san take me in when I was in your position, so I precisely know what you are feeling now."

"...."

"You feel worthless because you couldn't save her. You blamed everything in yourself.

Not to the woman Ayaka-san rescued or the truck driver. You know what that means, Haruka?"

"....No, I don't."

"It means you are kind."

"....Huh?"

"You could've have blame it on anything or anyone other than yourself, but you didn't. It just how Ayaka-san described you to be the first time we met, you are just that type of person, I guess?"

"Kaa-san really said that?"

"So you're still not going?"

"I... I don't know."

"Then I'll change my question. Do you love her?"

"Huh, what does that even mean? Of course I love her. She's my mother."

'Push'

"There you go! Because you love her, then you must go, Haruka."

Right after Haruka answered, Ren went behind him, and pushed him forward to where all the Mizuno standing.

"Hey, wait, stop! What are you doing--"

"You still have them, aren't you? So quit being down by yourself.

Just like Ayaka-san and you guys were there for me when I'm at my lowest, I'll be right behind you and everyone when you need it."

"Ren....."

"Then forward you go!"

Ren gave him one last push, and Haruka walked on by himself toward his family, who was waiting for him with a smile.

That day might be one of the scars that would never heal for him, but what Ren said put some sense into his head.

He might be still blaming himself over it, but he still has people he cared for, and he couldn't drag them down in his self-regret mood.

So....

... He will put on a 'mask'.

One day, in an clear afternoon of Ryuuseimachi, some chidren were playing ball on the park.

Howevee, the ball then got stuck on top high tree branches.

They surrounded the tree, doing everything they could to get the ball down like throwing some stones to it, searching for a long stick, but to no avail.

One of them then volunteer to climb the tree.

The way up was easy, he quickly climbed up and threw the ball down, but when he tried climb down, his hand was holding a creacking branch, and...

'Crack!'

...the branch snapped, the boy losing his hold then realize he was falling down from the high tree when all his friends gasped and screaming, and he tightly shut his eyes closed, feared the pain of the upcoming impact.

But in the corner of his hearing, he heard the sound of someone running to him....

'Grab!'

....and he felt someone catched his fall. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a guy with black hair and red eyes, a high schooler, out of breath with himself in his arm.

The guy then lowered him down, while trying to calm his own breathing. "Are you okay, kid?"

The boy still stuck in adrenaline rush of falling from high place could only nodded his head. The other children also gathered around him to make sure he was fine before they all looked at the guy and said 'thank you' for saving their friend.

The guy ruffled the boy's head while smiling.

"Be more cautious when you play, okay?"

After saying that, he turned around and walked to one other guy, another high schooler, that is just standing on the park entrance while holding two bags.

Feeling calm enough, the boy looked the guy's back, and shouted. "Onii-san, thank you!"

The guy didn't turn around, he just waving his hand like he was saying: 'Don't mind it'

"As usual, your response time is too quick. I barely realized the kid was falling when you throw your bag at me and sprint there in a matter of seconds."

Ren casually said that he handed me my bag back, and we resumed our walk home from school.

"How exactly do you do it though? Do you like, already predicted that kid will fall so you run like crazy back there?"

".... All the kids are looking up, and I heard the branch snapped. That's it."

"So you heard a branch snapped, and immediately run without even knowing what was it that make the branch snaps?"

"...."

It is just a basic logic.

The kids looking up means there is an object, animal, or a person up there.

When the sound of tree branch snapped was heard in my ears, I didn't even need to consider what was it that making it snapped. It would be good if its just an inanimate object, but what if it's an animal or maybe other kid up there.

The last time I took my time to consider things, mother was dead. So I never took my chance ever again.

It all went good in the end, the boy was saved and no one was hurt.

Well, my lungs was hurt a little bit by that sudden running though. I really should build up my stamina more.

"There you go again, monologing in your head. By the way, do you have shift today?"

"Yeah, I had to go right now. Can you tell everyone that I will be late for dinner?"

"Copy that. I'll leave your portion in the fridge later, just heat it up when you come back."

"So it's curry again."

"Oh shut up! That is the only recipe I know and confident in making. I'm not like Yuuichi or Yuuki, you know."

He smacked the back of my shoulder with his palm. It didn't hurt, it just how our relationship is.

"Anyway, thank you, Ren. I'll go this way."

We've come into the intersection. One way is home, the other is my workplace, so this is just where we will part.

"Alright, see you."

We both go on our own way.

I can't say much about my part time job.

I'm just a regular employee in convenience store a few blocks from my house.

After changed my clothes in the locker room, I just go to the front where my coworker already there at the cashier servicing a line of costumers with their purchases.

"Good afternoon, Yuma-senpai."

"Good afternoon, Haruka. Sorry to ask this when you just arrive, but can you restock the shelfs over there?"

"Roger that."

I see the shelfs he pointed, and yeah, there is only a few items left in there. So I went back into the storage to get the stocks and bring the box over to the shelf.

I'll just do my job quietly and as efficiently as possible, so later I can take my time to rest when there is no more costumer.

"Umm, ano, excuse me?"

I turned around and see a girl, high schooler, from different school by her uniform, standing behind me, looking nervous and fidgety.

"Yes, how can I help you, miss?"

I straighten my posture, be as polite as possible with my manners.

"Etto, do you remember me? Last week, on a train station?"

Ahh~

This pattern again.

To be honest, I did remember her.

Last week, when I went to the city by train, I exposed a chikan that was harassing a girl, this girl in front of me.

After exposing the perpetrator and handing him to the station police, I quickly left the scene without even talking to anyone.

I don't know how she know that I work here, but this pattern already happened more than 10 times. I think someone really sold my information to these girls.

I just give her my standard answer.

"I'm sorry. I think you got the wrong person, miss."

I can clearly see the shock in her eyes, but I'm really sorry. I learned from my first mistake.

"No, I remember your face. I also know your name, Mizuno Haruka-kun. You are from Kirahoshi Gakuen, right?"

Ahh~

So this is pattern B.

Either she stalked me, or someone really sold me out.

"Yes, that is indeed my name and my school. But I'm sorry miss, I really didn't remember ever meeting you."

"No way..."

Now she looks crestfallen. However it seems she realized my intention of denying of knowing her, so she just held back from saying more and take out something from her bag.

Without saying anything, she takes a bag of cookies from her bag and thrusts it in front of me while bowing her body.

"Um, what is..."

"I just want to say thank you for your help the other day. I didn't mean anything else. So please, at least, can you accept this cookies? I baked this in my home economics class, so...."

"Alright, thank you. I'll take it."

Forget it.

I don't know if I might regret it later or not, but I just want her to stop bowing. Other costumers are looking at us, some aunties even smiling so warmly like they're looking at some youth drama.

No, please stop it.

The moment I take the cookie bag, she straighten herself, beaming so happily. She once again said thank you, and run toward two other girls who were hiding behind the other end of the shelf and they left the store.

All costumer then resumed their shopping while I continue restocking the shelf.

The moment I come to the back of the counter, stand beside my coworker, the line of costumer from before already gone and he, Yuma-senpai, just stand there smiling at me, looking at the bag of cookies in my hand.

"As popular as ever, Haruka."

"Shut it. I don't helped them with intention of being popular though."

"Well, no matter the intention, in those girls eyes, you are just that much of a hero, maybe a prince?"

"No way. I'm no hero or prince."

"I'm kind of jealous of you. Must be nice to be popular with girls."

"Why would you even be jealous of me. You already have a girlfriend, right? What was her name again? Hana?"

"This and that are different. It is a normal thing for a guy to dream of being popular with girls in their life at least once. You, who wished not to be popular, is the odd one. By the way, her name is Hina."

"What even being popular good for? I don't have time for romance."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah."

"....."

"....."

"..... You homo?"

'Kick!'

"Ouch! Hey, I'm just joking!"

"Just shut up already. The costumers are coming."

What an annoying guy.

By the time my shift ended and next part-timers for the night shift came, the sky was already so dark.

Not just because it already past 9 PM, but because it also rained.

"I really shouldn't trust the weather forecast anymore."

So here I am, already changing back to my school uniform, looking at the rain outside of the store with helpless sigh because I didn't bring an umbrella, and this store also didn't sell them.

With how heavy the rain now, I don't think it will stop in near time.

Should I force it and run straight home in this rain?

Hm, no, hell no.

I will only get a cold by the time I arrived home.

"You don't have an umbrella, Haruka?"

Yuma-senpai approach me from behind, his shift also ended the same time as mine.

"Yeah, I don't bring it because weather forecast said today will be clear the whole day and night."

"Want to borrow mine?"

Yuma-senpai offers me his blue umbrella.

I looked at the umbrella and to his face.

"If I use it, then what about you?"

Yuma-senpai take something out from his bag, a folded umbrella.

"I have an extra one."

"Why do you even have 2 umbrellas prepared?"

"I'm just always prepared for the worst, I guess? So will you take one?"

"... I'll take on that offer. Thank you, Yuma-senpai."

I reluctantly take the blue umbrella he offered. He give a small smile and opened his folded umbrella while holding open the door.

"No problem. Well, I'll go first okay? See you in our next shift."

"See you, Yuma-senpai."

While saying that, Yuma-senpai started walking away under the rain, until he's completely gone.

"I guess I should go home too now."

I said goodbye to the other part-timer and get out of the store and opened the umbrella and start walking.

On the way home, the sounds of heavy water droplets hitting the surface of the umbrella, the splash on the road made by my footsteps, and the rumbling of wind accompanied me in my walk.

To be honest, I hate rain.

Not just because the water wet my shoes and made it felt so uncomfortable (good grief tomorrow is weekend), but because rain made me remember about that day more vividly.

Since that day, anytime it rains, the image of her laying in the pool of her own blood that was mixed with rain water would be played in my head.

The time where the doctor shook his head in front of ICU room.

Her funeral.

At how powerless I was.

At how pathetic I was.

All those memories will be forever haunting me, maybe even to my own grave.

Since that day, everyone seemed to have moved on already.

Yuuichi focused on his study to get into good university.

Ren was busy with club activity and his girlfriend.

Shizu holed himself in the basement creating many things.

Yuuki returned to his sunny personality with the help of his childhood friend.

Nao, well, I don't think he change much, but Nao is Nao.

Father was busy with work as usual.

But myself....

Since that day, I kept on pretending to be fine in front of my family, friends, everyone.

I lived my life normally through middle school and high school. Making friends, playing around, laughing together.

Bickering with my siblings, teasing them, fighting it out and smiling and laughing in the end.

It all seemed like I already moved on from my self-loathing guilt, but deep down, nothing was ever changing.

Everything I wanted to say to her.

My love for her...

My thank you...

My apology...

Nothing will ever reach her anymore.

I can feel my cheeks wet with something, but I'm sure it wasn't because of rain.

I stopped on my track, looking up to the dark clouds that bring rain in the sky, and quietly muttered:

"I miss you, Kaa-san."

Just like usual, I was working again in the convenience store like usual.

And it was a quite late from the usual since the next part-timers for the night shift coming late.

So when the next part-timer came, I instantly go to the back to change my uniform and go home.

Tomorrow school will begin again, and I also already felt quite sleepy.

On my way home, my ears picked up a muffled sound from the dark alleyway.

Without second thought, I walked there and peeked behind the wall, and see 3 men in black suit wearing sunglasses, even though this is night, surrounding a frightened middle aged man with white lab coat, hugging a silver briefcase in front of him.

Two of the black suit men pinned the middle aged man to the wall while covering his mouth, while the one left snatched the case from him and opened it.

I'll just call them guy 1, guy 2, and guy 3 in my head for easier visualization.

'Is this a robbery? But aren't they dressed too neat to be a robber?'

That what was in my mind when spectating the whole things.

I usually ran straight to help, but in this scenario, I doubt I could defeat 3 men by myself.

'Should I call for help first?'

When I was thinking about what should I do next, the man who opened the briefcase, guy 1, threw it away with annoyed expression.

He took out something from his pocket, a pocket knife?!

The moment I saw that, I knew the situation was too serious. They will kill him!

[So what are you going to do?]

I saw my younger version standing in front of me.

The version when that accident happened.

[Just like that day, someone is going to die.]

[Just like that day, you're not going to do anything?]

[As expected of future me.]

[Kaa-san must be--]

Without letting that illusion finishing his word, I grabbed a glass bottle that laid beside my feet, took my position and threw it hard after some basic calculation in my head.

The bottle fly in a parabola trajectory and hit the guy 1's head and shattered.

The man staggered back and dropped the knife.

His other two colleagues looked shocked and confused by the sudden attack while looking at their partner.

While they still haven't realize me yet, I ran to them while holding a metal pipe that I picked from the ground back there, and smacked guy 2's back that hold the middle aged man, releasing him from their clutches.

"Hey, who is this kid?!"

"You son of a bit-- Guhhh!"

"Aniki!"

The guy 3 shouted at my sudden arrival, guy 1 tried to grab me after he recover from my bottle throw, but with metal pipe in my hand, I swung it up and hit his 'family jewels'.

Guy 1 was down while clutching his crotch, and guy 3 looked over to him, asking if he was fine.

Guy 2 recovered from my surprise attack, he stood firm, towering in front of me while loosening his muscle. Is he 2 meters in height?

"You really shouldn't involve yourself in this mess, kid. Now I'm going to kill you."

I looked over to the middle aged man that was still sitting there frozen in place.

"Get out of here now, oldman!"

"And also you shouldn't take away your focus from your enemy."

"Wha-- GAHHH!"

When I looked back to the front, the man thrusted his veiny big fist right to my head. I barely able to dodge it by moving to the side, but he already followed it with a side kick, sending me crashed to the wall and fell to the dirty ground, the metal pipe also thrown away from my hand.

Shit!

I think I break my bones, both front and the back.

It's super hurt.

I can see guy 2 right in my vision, and then he lifted me up by my collar with one hand.

From the corner of my eyes, I can see the middle aged man almost reaching the entrance of alleyway.

"I really don't like to kill a kid like you, but blame yourself for this."

He raised his fist again. If I got hit with it at full force, my head will be crushed, so with the bottle shard that I picked when I fell, I slashed it to his face.

"Gaahhhh!"

I didn't know where my slash landed, but it made his grip to my collar loosened and I could stand on my two feet again.

Without waiting for another second, I ran with all my remaining strength to the way out of this alley.

"Shit, shit, fuck!! @-#&$@-#&$-, my eye! I'm going to kill you brat!"

'Dor!'

Suddenly after that loud gunshot, everything became silent.

The middle aged man in front of the alley looked at me with horrified face, and I felt like I lost my strength faster.

I kneeled on the ground and finally see the blood that oozing out from chest.

"Shit.... now I can't go to school.... tomorrow....."

My consciousness was fading away, and I fell to the ground, but strangely enough, I didn't feel anything.

It just, somehow, a little cold.

In my last hearing, I heard someone screaming, and the 3 men running away.

So those guy finally leave, the middle aged man is saved.

I told you, me.

I have changed.

I'm no longer a coward.

With that, everything is completely black.

"It's here, officer! I see three men robbing someone, they also have gun!"

There was a woman shouting from somewhere.

The three men in black suit that heard that, panicked and quickly made their escape, leaving Haruka and the middle aged man who ran back to check his savior's condition.

After all those guys gone, a woman in tight black suit, holding a silver briefcase that is similar with the man previous briefcase, walked toward them in hurry.

There was no other people following her, so most likely the previous shouting was just to scare those guys away.

"How is his condition, professor?"

"No good. He lost too much blood."

"Fuck! Why it become like this? I already told you to not get too far away from me, and now look at this?!"

"His heartbeat slowed down too fast."

The man brought Haruka over so that he sat leaning against the wall.

"We involved an innocent bystander! How I can report this?! Boss will kill us!"

"Shut up will you!? Give me the case!"

When the middle aged man snapped at her, the woman went quiet and obediently gave him the silver briefcase.

The man put the case on the ground, opened it, showing the inside that just contained two items; an injection pistol, and a transparent tube that was filled with suspicious green liquid.

"Wait, what are you trying to do here, professor?"

"What else? I'm saving him."

The man put the tube inside the injection pistol, and check Haruka's arm for the best spot to inject.

"It haven't been tested on human yet! We don't know what will those serum do to human body! You might destroy him!"

"He will die either way, so we might as well take the gamble."

"Fuck, fuck this! Boss will kill both of us if he knew this. Not even a corpse will remain."

"Calm down. You're too negative. Try to think positively for once. What if it is a success? It will be a very big leap in our research."

After saying that, the man plunged the syringe from the injection pistol to Haruka's arm and pulled the trigger.

The green liquid in the tube all gone inside Haruka's body now.

The man pulled out the injection and obversed.

5 minutes passed, the man put his finger to Haruka's hand to feel his pulse.

"I got pulse."

"Wait, really?!"

The anxiety in the woman face instantly turned into excitement.

The man moved closer to him, opened Haruka's shirt to see the wound on his chest.

They saw something incredible. Although it was gradual, the wound from that bullet that passed through his chest, was slowly closing, like his cells were working in fast-forward video.

"His heartbeat also stablize over time, his broken bone from before also mended perfectly. This is...."

"The serum is really a success?! Now we don't have to fear of being killed by the Boss again. Yatta!"

While the woman was jumping around happily, Haruka's brows twitched, signed that he would be awake very soon.

The man moved fast to close his shirt again, and did all his best to make it like nothing ever happened, thought he couldn't erase the blood.

He also cleaned up his stuff and took the woman hand.

"Let's get out of here before he wake up. We can't let him get involved more than this, right?"

After saying that, both of them ran away, and a few minute later, Haruka wake up with confused mind.

Like his body was in auto pilot, Haruka was able to get home when everyone already fell asleep, going upstairs to his room and bed, and losing consciousness again.

'Beep' 'Beep' 'Beep'

Ugh, so noisy.

With my eyes still closed, I clicked the digital alarm on my bedside.

Right, school started today, I must get up now.

I tried sitting on the bedside, but really, my body felt so stiff.

Was I too tired in yesterday shift?

I don't think so.

There wasn't many costumers on my shift yesterday, so it couldn't be it.

What else?

On my way home, there was a robbery in the alleyway and I helped the middle aged man but then I...

Then I....

My eyes instantly opened and I looked at my shirt that is still red with dry blood.

I opened my shirt, but somehow, I didn't see any wound.

Instead, I see two curve on my chests.

"What are this?"

It couldn't be muscle.

I mean, I have muscle, but not to the extend that would make a curve like this, beside my nipples weren't this big.

I tried touching them, and they jiggle, and soft.

"...."

Wait a minute...

I think I know this pattern.

I have read this a few times in novel and manga before.

So I calmly looked at my crotch, moving my hand toward that direction and grabbed the center.

"...."

Let's inhale first.

Okay, this is enough.

"FUCK!!!"

Inside the living room of Mizuno family household, there are 7 girls that are quietly hearing Haruka's story about everything that she can remember from yesterday part-time job to the wake up in this morning.

"So you don't remember anything after you fainted or how you get home?"

Ren asked while leaning against the wall, crossing her arm under her big chests.

Haruka that sit on the sofa shake her head.

"My system detected that you came home normally around 11 PM. Maybe you were sleep walking from that alleyway to home."

Shizu played around with the tablet in her hand.

"Okay, maybe that is the answer of how Haruka get home, but what about the wound? She, I mean, he is getting shot in the chest, right?"

Ren asked again.

At that question, everyone eyes once again focused on either Haruka or Shizu. Haruka quickly shook her head...

"As I said, I don't remember anything."

...while Shizu observed Haruka up and down a few times.

"Haru-nii, I will need your blood when this conversation is over."

"Huh, why?"

"You said you lose consciousness not long after you were shot. It can be either your heart got hit, or you losing too much blood in a short time period.

No matter which it is, the fact that you don't have the wound or anemia now means your blood is already replenished and your internal organ repaired overnight.

Whatever it is that make it happen, it should  still be in your blood. If I can find it, we will know the reason for your change."

"Ah, okay. I got it."

Haruka just nodded her head because Shizu's reasoning seemed plausible.

"Alright, we already heard about Yuu-nii, which we don't know anything at all from her story. And Haru-nii's, that most likely has a lead about the reason for her change. So next in the list, Ren-nii, your turn!"

Yuuki stood from the sofa and walked to Ren with teasing smile.

Ren have a bad premonition in her heart from looking at that devilish smile.

"What are you trying to do, you brat?"

Ren looked at Yuuki sharply, but instead of afraid, she became bolder standing beside Ren, and gave her a few sniffs, and bring her mouth close to Ren's ear to whisper.

"Hotel bath soa(p).... mmhhh!!"

Just barely three words leaving her lips, Ren already covered Yuuki lips with her palm.

"Alright, I'll talk about mine next. Satisfied, you brat?"

Although her mouth was covered, Yuuki nodded enthusiastically with the eyes that still seemed smiling.

Ren released Yuuki and the brat quickly took a step back with satisfied grin. She turned around to face everyone with happy face.

"Now let's all hear about Ren-nii's story. I bet it is very fun, right, Ren-nii?"

Yuuki proclaimed while stealing a glance at her.

Ren can only grit her teeth and said it under her breath.

"One of these days, I will throughly punish you."

"Being punished by the current Ren-nii will just be reward for me, fufu~"

"This brat..."
