V2: Chapter 93: The Happiest Child in the World
"Stop!"
Liang Lin pushed away Liang Di, who was following closely behind her. "Keep your distance from me, understand?"
"?"
Liang Di blinked twice, not understanding what she had done wrong to make Liang Lin want to keep her distance.
What Liang Di didn't see was Liang Lin's flushed face hidden behind her turned away.
"Fun, hehe~ I want to play again!" Carol cheered, waving her little hand high in the air.
Liang Lin didn't turn around, directly pouring cold water on her daughter, "We should continue moving forward. If you play again, be careful you don't fall down. I won't be standing below to catch you anymore."
As soon as she said this,
"Waaah..."
Liang Lin: "??"
She turned around in astonishment and saw Carol with tears in her eyes, her nose twitching, and her mouth wavy. The child sniffled hard, and then two streams of tears, as wide as noodles, rolled down her cheeks.
"No...?"
"I...?"
Liang Lin, the mother, was instantly at a loss. She scratched her head, feeling she hadn't said anything wrong.
Why was this little brat suddenly crying?
The crying caught her completely off guard; large tears fell, landing on Liang Di's arm and then on the ground.
This sudden crying left Liang Di, who was holding her, unsure what to do.
It was her own child, so of course she had to comfort her.
"Okay, okay, don't cry," Liang Di raised her hand and wiped away Carol's tears, coaxing the little one in her arms gently, "Why are you crying like this? Going outside to play is supposed to be fun, it's okay, play if you want to, come on, Mommy will take you."
But Carol continued to sob.
Liang Lin was anxious, angry, and heartbroken. However, she was terrible at comforting others, and even more so when it came to comforting her own child. She stammered for a long time, unable to utter a single word, and finally could only sigh heavily, rubbing the back of her neck in frustration.
Liang Di gave Liang Lin a wink. "Isn't it okay, Liang Lin? It's alright if we delay a little longer, right? Just one more jump, just one more jump and we'll go, okay? Carol, don't keep Mama Liang Lin waiting too long."
Seeing an opportunity to back down, Liang Lin readily agreed. She nodded immediately. "Okay, fine, I'll reluctantly allow you to play a little longer, one more time, um, even two times is fine, of course, only twice at most. Let's hurry up and go home."
Even when comforting others, even when compromising, she still managed to be quite proud.
“Alright, alright, your Mama said so, which means she agrees to let us go play. Come on, I'll take you.” Liang Di shook Carol in her arms, comforting her.
Finally, Carol's crying gradually subsided, turning into soft sobs, and finally, hiccups after crying.
Seeing her daughter stop crying, Liang Lin finally breathed a sigh of relief, smoothing down her less-than-ample chest. Although she was annoyed and didn't want to follow the two ahead, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to follow behind them, worried that the two girls might clumsily fall.
“Fine, you guys jump, I'll catch you, but I won't jump myself.” Liang Lin was very awkward, her face slightly red, stubbornly turning her head away from the two, occasionally making a “tsk” sound, but her body betrayed her, opening her arms to catch Liang Di and Carol when they jumped down.
This adorable, slightly arrogant side struck a chord with Liang Di.
Liang Lin waited a while, but Liang Di didn't jump down with Carol in her arms. She looked up in confusion and saw Liang Di staring blankly, lost in her own world.
"Liang Di?"
Liang Lin called again, but her voice wasn't loud enough to wake Liang Di.
Liang Lin frowned and called again, "Liang Di?"
But Liang Di still didn't respond, her mind replaying Liang Lin's earlier arrogant expression.
Since Liang Di didn't respond, Liang Lin thought for a moment. Finally, she concluded that Liang Di was afraid of falling in the flower field again.
So,...
"Liang Di, you won't fall this time, you can rest assured," Liang Lin added.
This time her voice was louder, and Liang Di finally reacted.
"It's okay, Sister Liang Lin, I think..." Liang Di smiled, her smile as innocent and adorable as ever, as if all evil words had nothing to do with her, "Falling in the flower field with Sister Liang Lin is such a romantic thing. Even if we fell in the same flower field once, twice, or a thousand times, I would still be willing."
Huh?
Liang Lin was stunned.
This sounds like a different kind of confession, doesn't it?
Hmm... Although Liang Di has confessed to her directly many times, Liang Lin prefers this subtle approach, the kind that makes her heart pound uncontrollably.
"Really, stop talking nonsense!"
Liang Lin roars when she's shy, blushes when she roars, and blushes so much that she can't help but want to turn her head away, afraid of being discovered. Thus, she reverts to that awkward look that Liang Di liked so much.
"Enough with the nonsense! You've wasted so much time, hurry up and get down! You're so slow even when you're supposed to jump, what can you possibly do? Seriously! You're so stupid!"
Liang Lin scolded.
Liang Di was used to being scolded like this, even starting to use self-psychological manipulation. "Spare the rod and spoil the child," right? Sister Liang Lin always scolds her like this, it must be because she loves her so much.
Oh~ this poor child, her self-management skills are beyond measure.
"Hehe~"
Liang Di gave a silly, goofy laugh, like a little bear that had just eaten honey.
"Then, Sister Liang Lin, I'm going to jump down now~"
Liang Di hugged Carol tightly in her arms and whispered to the little one, "Thank you~ for letting me experience the feeling of running into Sister Liang Lin's arms again. You're Mommy's best, best child."
Carol was not even three years old yet, so she probably wouldn't understand such a long sentence. But this time, she smiled, her eyes crinkling, and then reached out her chubby little arms to hug Liang Di's neck.
"Love, Mommy."
Liang Di felt that at this moment, she was the happiest person in the world, no one could be happier than her. She wished time could stand still at this moment, frozen in the instant she held Carol and rushed into Liang Lin's arms.
