V2: Chapter 101: The Conspiracy Begins
As expected, Hedy was quickly captured and brought back; her elopement with her lover lasted less than three days.
"Oh my, that was fast, wasn't it?"
After Liang Lin learned of this from Bellica, she uttered her familiar, sarcastic tone, "She's pretty stupid, but well, she doesn't seem like a smart person, which is normal."
Liang Di chimed in, "What about me? What about me? Sister Liang Lin, what was your first impression of me? Did you think I was a smart person?"
This girl, really, always has to chime in on everything, even things that aren't her business.
"The first time I saw you?"
Liang Lin recalled.
When she first met Liang Di, she thought this girl was a useless noblewoman, especially those Persian cat-like eyes, which looked so clear, so innocent, so easy to fool. In the end, she really didn't expect that she was the one who was fooled; she felt like she had lost both her wife and her army.
"Tsk."
Thinking of this, Liang Lin was extremely annoyed.
"The first time I saw you, you should know my first thought about you, haven't you forgotten? I threatened you and even tried to push you down the stairs."
Liang Lin rolled her eyes. "My impression of you was bad, extremely bad, very bad, a hundred percent bad!"
"Oh..."
Liang Di wilted.
But, still not giving up, she asked again, "And now? How's your impression of me now? Has it changed at all? Has it become better than before?"
Liang Lin sized up the woman in front of her for a moment, then said decisively, "You look exactly the same."
Liang Lin was referring to the change in the other woman's appearance.
However, Liang Di misunderstood.
"Huh?"
Liang Di was dejected. Her head, already bowed, drooped even lower, like a quail. She muttered under her breath, "I thought I'd improved a bit, but..."
"Huh?"
"What improvement could you possibly have in your appearance? Did you use some kind of magic to make yourself prettier?" Liang Lin blinked twice.
Oh...!
"Sister Liang Lin, so you were talking about changes in my appearance! Hehe~"
Liang Di instantly cheered up again. "No, I wasn't talking about my appearance! Of course I'm not as pretty as Sister Liang Lin! In my heart, Sister Liang Lin is the most beautiful girl in the world!"
Liang Lin: "?"
Although being praised for her beauty was nice, she still preferred to be praised for her handsome looks, dashing charm, and dashing figure on the battlefield.
"I'm talking about personality. What about my personality? Has it changed at all compared to before?"
Liang Di leaned closer to Liang Lin, her warm breath brushing against her face, her small hand resting on Liang Lin's thigh.
"Sister Liang Lin, don't you feel that my personality is getting better and better, more and more like a normal person?"
"Uh..."
Liang Lin stared at the face so close to hers.
It really was strange. Even though the other person was always so close to her, she still couldn't help but want to jump around when they were close.
"Personality... your personality is..."
Liang Lin turned her head away, avoiding the other person's breath on her face.
The feeling of breath on her face was so itchy; it made her blush.
"Maybe it's a little better, not as strange as before."
Liang Lin casually brushed it off.
While the two girls were being so affectionate, Miranda, who had remained silent and hadn't yet made a move, left the Langwendi mansion this morning with Edwin.
Before, Miranda could take Edwin wherever she wanted without Liang Di paying much attention. But now it was different. This woman possessed poison that could harm even a magician, and although she might have already given it to Queen Doris, Liang Di still needed to be cautious.
"Where did they go?" Liang Di asked Bellica.
Bellica replied, "To the palace."
"Looks like they're discussing something with Doris again."
After saying this, Liang Di didn't think much of it. After all, it was the palace; she couldn't just go in and out as she pleased. She could only wait for Miranda and Edwin to return before secretly sending someone to investigate.
By noon, Miranda and Edwin still hadn't returned. Liang Di had a vague premonition, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. After all, Miranda had been frequently taking Edwin to the palace lately, at least twice a week. Counting on her fingers, it seemed today was indeed the day Miranda and Edwin were supposed to go to the palace.
Hmm…
There shouldn't be any problems, right? Even if there were, they wouldn't threaten them until Miranda returned.
But…
This time…
Miranda and Edwin hadn't returned by evening.
"Something's wrong."
It was now six in the evening, and Liang Di finally realized something was amiss. She immediately returned to her room, preparing to draw a teleportation spell to tell Octaville and Hilary about it, when Liang Lin pushed open the door and entered.
"Huh?"
Liang Lin stared blankly at the familiar magic circle on the ground, then pointed. "Why are you drawing this magic circle? Are you going back to the Magic Tower again? Did something happen?"
"Yeah," Liang Di said as she drew, "Don't you find it strange? Miranda and Edwin have been gone for so long without returning. There's definitely something fishy going on. Normally, they should be home by now."
Liang Lin frowned.
"They're back! Why do you think they haven't? I saw them when I went downstairs just now."
Liang Di was taken aback.
Then, she looked at her sister with a shocked expression. "You said they're back? You just saw them?"
"Yes."
These two questions completely baffled Liang Lin. She pointed outside the door, to the corner of the corridor. "I saw them there! There's no mistake. How could I possibly hallucinate like that?"
"No."
Liang Di muttered to herself, "Then things are even stranger. How could this be, Gladys! Laura!"
Gladys' hearing was extremely sharp.
In just a moment, she appeared upside down outside the window, asking, "What's wrong, Miss Liang Di?"
Then, she saw Liang Lin standing in the doorway, her brows furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly. "Oh, Miss Liang Lin is here too. What's wrong?"
