V2: Chapter 102: Realizing Something Was Wrong
"Holy crap."
Liang Lin was startled. She walked to the window, opened it, and looked up at the roof.
"Why are you hanging upside down up there?"
Gladys was hanging upside down from the roof.
Her feet were tightly hooked onto the edge of the eaves, while her arms hung casually at her sides. Her body swayed gently in the breeze. The red glow of dusk filtered through the gaps in the eaves, casting a soft glow on Gladys, making her petite figure appear even more adorable.
"Ouch, your posture..."
Liang Lin glanced at her and immediately pulled her head back. "It looks kind of scary. Come in quickly."
Gladys spun and leaped in through the window.
"What's wrong? Miss Liang Di, is there something you need?" Gladys looked at the tentacle-wielding woman before her, slightly nervous.
She wasn't so nervous around Liang Lin, but around Liang Di, she became incredibly tense.
The reason was probably that although she had fought Liang Lin, she hadn't been pinned to the ground and severely beaten by Liang Lin. But Liang Di was different; she had been thoroughly thrashed to the ground and given a good beating by Liang Di's soft tentacles.
Liang Di didn't speak; she was thinking, but her eyes were incredibly frightening. Gladys looked nervously at the tentacle-wielding woman before her, swallowing hard.
"Gladys, you and Laura watched from the rooftop for so long, didn't you see her return?"
"Who?"
Who is 'her' here refer to?
Gladys was bewildered, not yet understanding the meaning behind the other person's words. "What 'her'? Who is she?"
"Miranda and Edwin, they're back already. Liang Lin saw them just now. You and Laura were standing by the window the whole time, how could you not have seen them at all?"
"Huh?"
Gladys looked stunned, then stammered, "No, that's impossible! Laura and I took turns, really, we didn't dare to doze off even once, how could we not have noticed them coming back? Two grown human, plus that huge carriage, how could we not see them?"
"Gladys, have you been playing around again?" Liang Di asked suspiciously.
Gladys, although very strong in combat, was always playful and mischievous, always idle and irresponsible. If she had forgotten to do something, it would be normal and reasonable. If it were her, she probably would have done it.
But as soon as Liang Di finished speaking, the other person started shouting loudly, no longer afraid of her, and their tone became harsh and heavy.
"Impossible! How could this be?!" Gladys pounded her meager chest, making loud "thump thump thump" sounds, as if she wanted to shatter her small frame. "What you told me, Laura and I both did very seriously. I couldn't possibly have done such a thing!"
After shouting this, still feeling wronged, she yelled even louder, "Miss Liang Di! How could you doubt me?! I really didn't! Although, although I usually seem pretty unreliable (voice getting softer)... but (voice suddenly getting louder), when I'm serious, I'm extremely reliable!"
"Uh."
Gladys's aggrieved and determined attempt to defend herself startled Liang Lin and Liang Di. They had never seen this silly vampire so agitated before.
“Alright, alright, I believe you. You said so, of course I believe you. Okay, stop shouting.” Liang Di pushed away Gladys’s close face. “Go do what you need to do. Tell Laura not to keep watching outside. You two go do your own things now. Hmm, go help Bellica, she’s been busy all day, she must be tired.”
“Oh, okay, Miss.”
Before opening the door to leave, Gladys turned back and asked, “Miss Liang Di, Miss Liang Lin, do you really believe what I just said?”
“What else?” Liang Lin was amused. “Look how excited you were just now. What else could we do but trust you? Besides, you’re so silly, you wouldn’t lie to us about this.”
“Oh…”
“Hehehehe~” Gladys laughed, a silly laugh.
Liang Lin and Liang Di: “…”
Sure enough, anyone could lie to them, but not Gladys.
"You trust me, that's all that matters~ Hehehe~" Gladys chuckled again before closing the door and skipping away.
Liang Lin stared intently at the doorknob Gladys had touched, her eyes wide, and said to Liang Di, "See? How could silly creature like that lie?"
"...You're right."
Liang Di was speechless. How could she be related to something like that by blood? With her high IQ, could she possibly have a recessive gene for such stupidity?
However, now wasn't the time to complain.
"Then how did those two get back..."
Liang Di slowly walked to the window, peering out and muttering, "This is so illogical. Even if I don't trust Gladys, I should trust Laura. I trust that girl's work. Most likely, they didn't just miss it."
"So..."
Liang Di fell silent for a moment.
"No!"
Liang Di suddenly widened her eyes, turned around, grabbed Liang Lin's hand, and said urgently, "Sister Liang Lin, where did you see them? Quick, take me there!"
"Huh?"
The sudden turn of events caught Liang Lin off guard. This time, she even forgot to pull her hand away from Liang Di's.
"What do you mean, where did you see them? They must be at home. Besides, they couldn't just stand there. They've all disappeared. How would I know?"
Liang Lin frowned and asked, "What's wrong? Did you find any clues?"
Liang Di nodded magically and pulled Liang Lin towards the door. "Damn it, if it's really what I think, then things are in trouble. But, but why would they do that?"
"What would they do?"
Liang Lin was completely bewildered by Liang Di's words and began to get annoyed.
“You always speak in riddles, only saying half of what you mean. How am I supposed to know what you’re trying to do? I can’t help you.”
“Because there’s no time to explain too much, Sister Liang Lin, let’s split up and look for them.”
This time, Liang Di let go of Liang Lin’s hand and began calling out Gladys and Bellica’s names again.
