V2: Chapter 104: The Dummy Trap

With Octaville absent, Hilary couldn't use the magic crystal ball on her own, so she brought it over and handed it to Liang Di.

"Here it is. Use it and take a look."

Liang Di nodded, took the magic crystal ball from the other's hand, and placed it on the wooden table beside her.

Then, she bent down and muttered something to herself. Liang Lin, annoyed, strained to listen, but couldn't understand a single word.

Then, a magical scene unfolded.

The afterglow of the setting sun shone through the windows of the magic tower, bathing the surface of the crystal ball in a silvery glow. The crystal ball began to tremble slightly, and the light within gradually brightened. It was as if a mysterious power was quietly awakening, attracting everyone's attention.

As the light from the crystal ball grew stronger, the entire magic tower was illuminated as if it were daytime. Complex runes and patterns began to appear on the surface of the crystal ball, spinning at an extremely fast speed. Just then, the crystal sphere suddenly burst forth with light, illuminating the entire room like a dazzling star. Countless colorful particles danced in the air within the light.

"Wow~"

Gladys's mouth gaped open, completely dumbfounded.

Liang Lin also stared in shock, her eyes wide with astonishment at the scene before her.

Although Liang Lin had seen magic crystal spheres before, she had never witnessed their activation. Now, it truly was quite beautiful.

After the light faded, the faces of two people appeared inside the magic crystal—Miranda and Edwin's.

Liang Lin and Liang Di huddled together in front of the magic crystal sphere, their faces pressed together. At this moment, Liang Lin didn't seem to care about pushing Liang Di away or showing any disdain. She stared intently at the magic crystal sphere, blinking twice, trying to make out the scene inside.

"It doesn't look like they're indoors," Liang Lin said.

Liang Di began to mutter to herself again, reciting something.

The figures suddenly shrank, the scene suddenly enlarged, and everything around Miranda and Edwin suddenly became clear.

"Oh!"

Liang Lin exclaimed excitedly, pointing to the crystal ball in front of her. "It really isn't indoors! Isn't this our backyard?"

Liang Di turned and gave Gladys a cold glance. "Didn't Bellica tell you to look in the backyard? Why didn't you find them?"

This sentence made Gladys the target of everyone's criticism. Gladys blinked her big, innocent eyes, feeling wronged. She immediately cried out, "I looked! I really looked! When Bellica told me to look, I looked! I looked in every corner! I even lay on the ground and searched in the grass! I just couldn't find them! Really!"

Judging from her eyes, she didn't seem like she was lying.

Liang Di sighed, feeling a throbbing pain in her temples. Complaining to Gladys was useless now; the most important thing was to find Miranda and Edwin as soon as possible.

“Let’s go, let’s go to the back garden.”

Liang Di pulled Liang Lin along, saying to Bellica as they walked, “Send all the servants away. Don’t let them into the back garden, otherwise it’ll be quite a hassle to use the memory-wiping magic on them one by one.”

“Understood, Miss.”

Bellica nodded slightly, walked around to the front of Liang Lin and Liang Di, and quickly disappeared around the corner of the corridor to do what Liang Di had instructed her to do.

Bellica really is a very reliable subordinate.

“I’m not entirely sure yet, but it’s highly likely it’s what I’m thinking,” Liang Di said as she walked. “If the magic crystal shows it’s their dummy, that makes sense. Since they can create dummy figures, it proves there’s definitely a mole within the magic tower. To be absolutely sure, they’d certainly carry anti-magic crystal tracking devices on their bodies.”

Liang Di had a terrible headache. She raised her hand and rubbed her head.

“If that’s really the case, it’s troublesome. Octaville isn’t here, and even if she were, she might not be able to undo this kind of magic, since she’s not good at it.”

After she finished speaking, Liang Lin looked at her questioningly, as if to say, “Since Octaville might not be able to undo this kind of magic, what about you?”

Liang Di understood the meaning in the other woman’s eyes. She shook her head helplessly. “Then I’m even less likely to undo this kind of magic. After all, I learned most of my magic from Octaville.”

“Hiss~” Liang Lin gasped.

“From what you’re saying, that makes things quite troublesome.”

Liang Di’s expression grew increasingly grave.

They had now reached the entrance to the back garden.

Before entering, Liang Di asked,

“If I remember correctly, the last person to break the spell was Senior Prescott, right?”

Liang Lin didn’t know anything about this either; after all, she had been imprisoned in the basement at the time. She instinctively turned to look at her sister.

“Yes, that’s right,” Hilary replied.

“Laura, you don’t need to come with us. Now, go back to your room, draw a teleportation circle, and go directly to Prescott. Tell him to come quickly.”

Laura had only met Prescott once and didn’t really remember what he looked like. Hearing this, she panicked.

“I… I can’t quite remember what Prescott looks like…”

“.....”

Helpless, Liang Di looked at Hilary again.

“Sister, you should go with Laura. Otherwise, it'll be quite troublesome for her to search alone. It'll take a long time and waste a lot of time.”

Although Hilary was worried about Liang Lin and Liang Di going alone (ignoring the useless vampire princess), the situation was urgent, and she had no choice but to nod in agreement.

“Remember to be careful. They're basically just dummies. We don't know if they've planted anything inside them. Don't let some poison explode inside your bodies after you deal with them,” Hilary warned.

“Okay, don't worry,” Liang Di replied calmly.

Liang Lin nodded as well. “Don't worry about me, sister. Hmm… though I feel that the biggest threat to them is probably Liang Di.”

She didn't say much, but everyone understood her implication: if anyone gets hurt, it will almost certainly be Liang Di. Queen Doris's most desired target is someone like herself; she wouldn't care about this “stupid and wicked” heiress.

After all, very few people knew her past identity.
