V2: Chapter 114: Such a Simple Ending?

Save me…

Why?

Why are you just smiling at me?

Why won't you come over? Why won't you save me?

You're clearly a magician, aren't you? You're clearly a powerful monster, aren't you? You could definitely save me.

Why are you standing there smiling? Why won't you save me?

Miranda stared intently at Liang Di, her gaze growing increasingly fierce.

This wasn't her hallucination; Liang Di was truly standing before her.

“Miss Liang Di, we…”

A magician was about to step forward when Liang Di raised her hand, stopping her. She didn't look at the magician, only smiled, “No need to go over there. The tentacles have already burrowed into her brain; she's beyond saving.”

“She clearly…”

The magician was about to continue speaking when another magician covered his mouth.

“Sometimes, emotional intelligence is really important. Think carefully about what you should and shouldn’t say,” the magician who had covered his mouth whispered in his ear.

The magician, who was about to speak, instantly snapped out of his daze, his face filled with panic. He glanced at Liang Di a few times, only to find that Liang Di was staring intently at Miranda, not turning to look at them.

Miranda could still be saved. Although the tentacles had burrowed into her brain, her consciousness hadn’t been completely eroded. There was still a glimmer of hope. If the tentacles were removed, there might be a 70% chance that her consciousness would survive.

But Liang Di didn’t want to save her.

She was just worried about not having a chance, a suitable reason, to kill Miranda. Now that this opportunity had finally presented itself, how could she let it slip by?

Of course, she would just watch—watch this woman suffer, watch her mother’s killer suffer.

She had been worrying about how to quietly eliminate Miranda without breaking her vow to Donald. Now, Miranda has brought this upon herself, courting death. She couldn't stop her even if she wanted to; she could only say she arrived too late and couldn't save her, but that wasn't her fault.

Grandpa Donald... he should understand, right?

A surge of exhilaration welled up in Liang Di's heart, especially seeing Miranda's agonizing struggle, her outstretched hand pleading for help, and her eyes yearning to live. Everything filled her with such pleasure, just like when she first saw Auston lying dying in his hospital bed.

"It was just too quick a death."

Although having one's will shattered by tentacles is a mentally agonizing process, it doesn't cause much physical torment. Liang Di still felt it wasn't enough; she even wanted to go up there herself and use her own tentacles to pierce through this vicious woman's chest.

“Liang Di, you, you…”

These were the words Miranda managed to squeeze out before her consciousness completely faded, “You’ll.... definitely die.... a horrible death…”

After saying this, she convulsed violently, spitting out mouthful after mouthful of blood. Although there were no wounds on her body, blood flowed uncontrollably from her mouth.

Liang Di didn’t quite understand what the other woman meant. She hadn’t done anything; she had only been an observer. Why was she being blamed for this indifferent bystander? Liang Di laughed.

“A horrible death is a horrible death then,” Liang Di squatted down, tilting her head. “After all, the most satisfying thing in this world is seeing the person you hate die in front of you. It’s a pity you can’t see the person you hate most die in front of you, but I saw it, hahaha~”

Liang Di’s laughter masked Miranda’s painful groans.

After about a second or two, Miranda, who was still convulsing on the ground, stopped moving.

Liang Di stood up and gestured to the magicians beside her to be vigilant.

"Miranda is no longer Miranda. She's now unconscious," Liang Di said in a low voice. "Once she gets up, just kill her."

"Understood."

"Yes, Miss."

The surrounding magicians spread out, encircling Miranda and preventing her from escaping.

Quickly, in about a second or two, Miranda writhed on the ground in a bizarre posture.

She slowly rose from the ground. This action should have been ordinary, but her posture was filled with eeriness and horror.

Miranda's back arched, like a broken butterfly wing, twisted and deformed. Her head and neck were twisted at an unbelievable angle, as if struggling against some unseen force. Her eyes were wide open, reflecting the setting sun, but devoid of any light, like two empty black holes.

Her hands gripped the ground tightly, fingers curled into claws, fingertips digging deep into the sand. Her legs were also twisted, knees almost touching the ground, making her stance unusually unstable.

As she stood up, the surrounding air seemed to freeze, the fog thickening, as if adding to the mystery and terror of her bizarre movement. The setting sun shone on her face, illuminating a pale, distorted expression, her lips slightly upturned in an eerie smile.

"Her appearance..." Liang Di almost laughed.

If it were anyone else, she could take it seriously, but seeing Miranda like this, she inexplicably wanted to laugh.

"Don't hesitate, just kill her. Her consciousness has been corrupted."

"Leave it to me, no need for so many people."

A middle-aged magician stepped forward.

The magician's appearance did not cause "Miranda" panic; instead, she revealed a defiant smile.

The magician gently waved his wand, chanting an ancient incantation.

As the incantation was chanted, the air around the magician began to fluctuate, a powerful energy condensing within it. Suddenly, a beam of light shot from the tip of the wand, heading straight for "Miranda." "Miranda" seemed to sense the danger, but it was too late for her to react.

The beam struck "Miranda" instantly, and she let out a piercing scream, her body twisting and struggling within the beam. However, this light seemed to possess destructive power; "Miranda's" body gradually dissipated within the beam, ultimately vanishing into nothingness.

The surrounding people stared in disbelief at what they had witnessed, then looked at the middle-aged magician.

The middle-aged magician was also quite surprised, looking around.

"This... this is the end of the magic trick?"

"Impossible, right?"
