V2: Chapter 115: It's Not That I'm Worried About You! Humph!
The group waited a while.
Everyone nervously looked around, feeling that things wouldn't end so simply.
Wait, something was bound to appear from within the fog.
The fog thickened, seemingly enveloping everyone, a pungent, fishy stench constantly assaulting their nostrils.
The fog at the seaside, under the sunlight, appeared particularly eerie. Unlike ordinary morning fog, which was gentle and drifting, it spread silently and elusively, shrouding the coastline in a hazy mist.
The fog seemed to rise from the depths of the sea, carrying an indescribable saltiness and coldness. It churned and twisted, as if alive, dancing on the surface of the sea, imbuing the surrounding scenery with a mysterious and eerie aura.
The distant reefs appeared and disappeared in the fog, their true forms obscured. The waves, shrouded in mist, became even more eerie, crashing against the rocks with low, muffled sounds, as if whispering untold secrets.
In this strange mist, everything became blurred, instilling a strong sense of unease and confusion. It was as if an unseen force was manipulating everything, making it impossible to escape this eerie atmosphere.
But apart from the mist, there seemed to be nothing else particularly special.
Just as everyone was filled with doubt, a sound suddenly came from afar.
Liang Di and the other magicians immediately assumed defensive stances, nervously watching the source of the sound.
A group of people emerged from the mist, their appearance as eerie and mysterious as a dream. This group seemed to have crossed over from another world; their figures appeared and disappeared in the mist, as if shrouded in a veil.
Their steps were light yet firm, each step seemingly echoing the rhythm of the waves. Mist swirled around them, making their figures appear even more hazy and profound.
The faces of this group were indistinct in the mist, but their eyes revealed a resolute light.
Who are they?
The other magicians grew even more nervous.
Only Liang Di lowered her magic wand, her expression gradually turning displeased.
As they drew closer, the mist slowly dissipated, revealing their true forms. They wore clothes of various colors, some tattered, others extravagantly ornate.
"Why are you so slow?" Liang Di said coldly. "If I were a monster, I would have already possessed this woman and left through the main gate. Would I have given you the chance to get here? Didn't you set up any magic here? Why are you so slow?"
The young magician at the head of the group visibly panicked upon seeing Liang Di.
Inside the Magic Tower, everyone knew Liang Di. She was the daughter of the current Tower Master, and a hybrid of monster and human, exceptionally powerful. Some said she was the next Tower Master, while others argued that a monster like her couldn't possibly become one.
However, the Magic Tower always ranked people by strength. Liang Di's power was so great that many had already accepted her as the next Tower Master. If Liang Di truly became the Tower Master, she would be the first hybrid monster-human Tower Master, a fact that would be etched into the history of the Magic Tower.
"Miss Liang Di, we... we sensed it and came immediately."
"So, you set up magic here?" Liang Di pressed on.
The young magician immediately nodded. "We set up countless magic arrays around the city walls. As soon as we sensed the energy fluctuations, we came immediately. We... we..."
Liang Di's eyes held a terrifying glint, frightening the young magician into lowering his head, unable to look her in the eye.
"At your speed, before you even arrived, the monsters would already be wreaking havoc in the town. How many innocent people would have lost their lives? I think you all know the purpose of setting up the Seaside Magic Tower, don't you?"
The magicians lowered their heads even further. This time it was indeed their oversight; they had been somewhat negligent. By the time they realized it, a considerable amount of time had passed.
"Everyone, accept your punishment." Liang Di was too lazy to say anything more. Only by punishing these people would they learn their lesson. "Stay on the beach for another month."
For these magicians, this was already the maximum punishment. No one knew what would happen on the beach during this month. Would higher-level monsters appear? Would they lose their lives? Would they lose an arm or a leg? Would they become slaves to Cthulhu?
"Understood, Miss Liang Di..."
However, no one dared to contradict Liang Di.
Liang Di looked at the unrecognizable corpse on the ground. That sense of pleasure surged through her again. She laughed, a very large, very large laugh.
Miranda was dead.
She needed to hurry back to tell Liang Lin and Octaville the good news. In a couple of days, she would bring out her most expensive wine, and everyone would drink happily. Then she would prepare a grand feast—Octaville, Hilary, herself, and her most beloved Liang Lin—to celebrate this wonderful moment together.
"Alright, I've dealt with this matter. You all need to be careful in the future. If I find out again…" Liang Di's smile faded as she looked at the magicians, "it won't just be a one-month extension."
"Understood, Miss Liang Di."
It was two days later when Liang Di returned to Langwendi's house.
As soon as she got home, she collapsed onto the bed, falling into a deep sleep. The side effects of the medication were kicking in; Liang Di had been unusually tired, lethargic, and sleepy for the past few days. However, she was quite happy because she saw the worried look in her sister Liang Lin's eyes and received Liang Lin's awkward concern.
"Hey, want some cupcakes?"
"I suddenly wanted some cupcakes, but Bellica gave me too many. So, I'll share some with you. Anyway, I can't finish them all."
"Hey, this teddy bear... I really didn't know who to give it to, but I thought it was cute, so I bought it. But after thinking about it, I feel it's not appropriate for me to keep it."
"So, I'll give it to you. I didn't know who else to give it to anyway."
"Oh, I just passed by your room, and your door was open, so I looked inside. It wasn't that I was worried about you, it's just... just..."
"I was afraid some maid with bad intentions might steal something from your room."
That tsundere Liang Lin!
She's clearly concerned, but she always comes up with lame excuses to tell the other person that what she's doing isn't out of concern!
