V2: Chapter 139: Let's Kiss!

When Liang Lin heard Liang Di utter these words, she was shocked and stunned. She truly hadn't expected to hear a discussion of love and emotion from the mouth of this "monster" who had once hurt her.

It was probably at this moment, when Liang Di calmly said he loved her and their daughter, that Liang Lin, usually so oblivious, finally realized Liang Di's change.

People always grow, even "monsters."

Liang Lin felt a strange mix of emotions, a mixture of relief and deep emotion. She knew that a large part of Liang Di's change was for her. Liang Lin wasn't a villain; she was just emotionally oblivious, proud, stubborn, possessing a distorted sense of justice, and a bit ruthless.

"Love?"

Liang Lin murmured.

Bellica came out of Liang Di's room. Seeing Liang Lin, she paused for a second, then a smile appeared in her eyes.

“Miss Liang Lin.”

Liang Lin, deep in thought, was startled by the other's words and quickly grabbed the other's sleeve, raising her index finger in a shushing gesture.

“Shh.”

Bellica covered her mouth, nodded, and lowered her voice, saying to Liang Lin, “Miss Liang Lin, are you going in?”

Liang Lin hesitated.

“You go ahead with your work, I might not go in.”

Bellica nodded again, giving her an “I understand” look, turned back twice, and walked away.

“Really,” Liang Lin muttered, “How come I never noticed how nosy Bellica was before?”

Liang Lin paced back and forth outside the door, pursing her lips and occasionally letting out a “tsk” through her teeth. Finally, as if making a decision, she pushed open the door to Liang Di's study.

Liang Di was working.

“Sister Liang Lin.”

She looked up in surprise. Without even looking, she knew who it was just from the footsteps. How could she not recognize the person she had been longing for immediately?

Liang Lin didn't often come to see her, and each time it brought Liang Di a small sense of satisfaction. She felt that Liang Lin cared about her, which was why she sought her out, even if it was about serious matters. So, this time, it must be something important to discuss.

"What is it, sister?" Liang Di pushed aside her work papers, stood up, and pulled out a chair for Liang Lin. "Sister, please sit down."

Liang Lin sat down, staring at the expectant Liang Di for a long time without speaking.

"Is there something you need, Sister?" Whenever Liang Di spoke to Liang Lin, she would stare intently at her, her eyes sparkling.

Liang Lin, whether out of a momentary lapse of judgment or because she had been thinking too much and had overwhelmed her senses, blurted out, "What? Can't I come to see you if there's nothing wrong?"

A strange silence fell over the room.

Liang Di felt as if, inexplicably, the girl she liked had expressed her affection for her. She'd come to see her for no reason, and it was obvious she missed her.

"Sister Liang Lin, you missed me?"

Liang Di instinctively tried to tease her, expecting Liang Lin to blush and retort like a flustered little rabbit.

"Yes."

"..."

The room fell silent once more.

"Eh—?..... Ah!?"

Liang Di blushed.

This was probably one of the few times she'd been rebuffed, one of the few times Liang Lin had flirted with her back.

But Liang Lin remained blank, her eyes glazed over, her face neither flushed nor her heart pounding, lost in thought.

Liang Di felt flustered. She turned around, touching her wildly pounding chest to calm herself, before turning back to look at Liang Lin.

"Liang... Sister Liang Lin, do you know what you just said?" she stammered.

The previous times Liang Lin said she missed her, it was either because she forced Liang Lin to say it, or because she begged Liang Lin to say it.

For Liang Lin to say something like this so willingly.... it was truly unbelievable, as if she had been possessed by someone else.

Liang Lin nodded.

“I missed you, so I came to see you.”

This directness caught Liang Di completely off guard.

But after the initial shyness came a surge of immense joy.

Liang Di almost shouted.

“Sister, Sister Liang Lin!”

She suddenly threw herself into Liang Lin's arms, hooking her arms around the other's neck, burying her face in the crook of her neck, breathing deeply her sweet scent.

“Sister Liang Lin.”

“I love you…”

“......”

After the initial shock, shame flooded Liang Lin's brain. Her face flushed like a fiery sunset, burning uncontrollably.

“Hey…”

“I was just… joking.”

A weak and feeble attempt to salvage the situation.

Liang Di didn't believe her. A wide smile played on her lips as she tightened her grip on Liang Lin's arms.

"Hmm! Even if it's a joke, I'm happy!"

You could tell she was happy; her eyes were practically slits.

Liang Lin glanced sideways at her mischievous tentacle-wielding friend, her cheeks puffing out like a little pufferfish. She let out a soft "humph."

What an expressionless fellow! Not nearly as mature and composed as me.

Although the other woman was holding her so tightly it was hard for Liang Lin to breathe, she was still quite happy and didn't want her to let go. Firstly, because she couldn't bear to part with the warm, soft body in her arms.

Secondly, she was afraid that if Liang Di let go, she'd see her face—it was burning hot, definitely red. If the other woman noticed her shyness, how embarrassing would that be, like a lovesick little girl?

"I love you."

Liang Di repeated those three words, hoping to hear the same three words from Liang Lin's lips.

But there was no response.

Liang Di's heart grew cold, but upon reflection, Liang Lin had already told her she missed her, so she should be content. Love is a gradual process. Perhaps Liang Lin only liked her a little now, perhaps she only had a tiny bit of affection for her. But that was enough. These were seeds planted in the soil, and one day they would grow into seedlings of love.

"I love you," she said again, still unwilling to give up.

After a long silence.

"I know," Liang Lin replied with those three words.

"..."

That's alright, at least there was a response, isn't?

Liang Di slowly released her hand, resting her forehead on the other's head, their nose touched.

Their breaths mingled, heavy and intertwined.

"Sister Liang Lin."

"Hmm?"

Liang Di touched Liang Lin's neck, her voice hoarse.

"Sister Liang Lin, may I... kiss you?"

After asking this, she didn't impolitely kiss her directly. Instead, she quietly looked into her eyes, waiting for her response.
