V2: Chapter 160: To the Beach
"Keep your voice down, don't wake your Mama."
She couldn't let Liang Lin hear her little schemes; she still needed to share a bed with her sister. She knew Liang Lin was often just being arrogant; as long as she was firm and Liang Lin didn't get angry, she could continue.
"Your Majesty..."
As the king lay panting beside Doris, Doris reached out and touched his chest. "I haven't been feeling well lately. I want to go to Clarence City to clear my head; it's my hometown, and I'm a little homesick. I've heard it's been quite developed there in recent years, and I want to go see it."
The king didn't pay much attention to her words, not even lifting an eyelid. "Oh? What's wrong? Darling, did someone upset you?"
Doris shook her head, her expression forlorn.
“I think it’s probably because I’ve been away from my homeland for too long, and I’m missing it. Your Majesty, may I go back for a visit? I need to clear my head, and I’ll return in a few days.”
The King hesitated for a moment.
“Doris, as Queen, it’s too unsafe for you to go to such a place. If you’re truly upset, summon a few noble ladies to the palace to keep you company.”
Doris clenched her fists secretly. She knew that leaving the palace wouldn’t be easy. However, she couldn’t use the substitute doll yet. There was a barrier drawn by the people of the Magic Tower within the palace. If she dared to use the substitute doll within the palace, she would definitely be discovered by the people of the Magic Tower. Those few spies within the Magic Tower weren’t powerful enough. That barrier was set up by Octaville, and in terms of magical power, few people today could compare to Octaville.
"Sigh."
Doris sighed dramatically. "My foster mother wrote to me, asking me to come back. My sister misses me dearly, and besides, she's never been to the capital before. She's eighteen and still so naive. I was thinking of bringing her to the capital so she can broaden her horizons."
An eighteen-year-old girl?
The king paused, stroking his beard.
Doris subtly curled her lips. She knew this old lecher was susceptible to this.
"My sister was beautiful when she was little, and I wonder what a stunning beauty she's grown into. Even as a child, I thought she was a beauty in the making. My family even sent me her portrait, and when I saw it, she truly was beautiful. Sigh, I'm getting old. I feel like I might not be as beautiful as my sister now."
Hearing this, the king's interest was instantly piqued.
"Oh? Your sister wants to come to the capital? Then just let her come. It's too much trouble for you to go."
Doris rubbed her temples, feigning difficulty. "My sister invited me to come over, saying she won't come to the capital if I don't go back. Sigh, I guess I'll just refuse."
"Ah..."
The king's tone shifted. "You said the portrait your family sent you, show it to me. Let me see if there really is anyone in this world more beautiful than my queen."
Heh, is this how he reveals his true nature?
Doris was waiting for this.
She finished dressing, buttoned her clothes, got out of bed, and took a huge portrait from the bookshelf.
"This is a portrait of my sister."
The king slowly sat up.
The moment he saw the portrait, his clouded gaze cleared considerably.
The girl in the painting was indeed very beautiful, with a big smile, radiating youthful energy. Although her features weren't as refined as Doris's, she was much more innocent and pure. Doris was the alluring type, while the girl in the portrait was the complete opposite—cute, innocent, and untouched by the grime of this complex society.
The old king, that old bastard, just happened to like girls like that; the older he got, the more he preferred young girls.
However, he pretended to be indifferent and lay back down on the bed. But his eyes unconsciously drifted back and forth to the portrait.
"Hmm..... she looks quite young, not eighteen, more like fifteen or sixteen."
Doris chuckled coldly, but outwardly flattered him, "Yes, Your Majesty, I think so too."
"Such a young child should have an older sister to keep her company, hmm…" The king pretended to think, actually preparing a way to save face.
"Alas, you two sisters haven't seen each other for over a decade. It's all because of your position as Queen that your sisterly bond has been strained. How about this, I'll make an exception for you two. You go, relax there, and your sister can have some fun."
After saying this, the King's eyes darted around, revealing his true intention. "Then, bring your sister to the capital. As my Queen's sister, she should naturally experience the sights of the capital. Otherwise, people will laugh at us."
Haha, what a wonderful, what a high-sounding reason! Even, it felt somewhat forced.
Doris immediately smiled and climbed back to the King's side.
"Your Majesty, I knew you were the best to me. To be your Queen is the greatest fortune of my life."
The King was pleased with these words, and Doris's warm hand on his chest gave him immense satisfaction.
"Time is of the essence, Doris, you should set off as soon as possible."
This old lecher is really impatient. It seems the noble ladies and common girls of the capital aren't enough for him anymore; his ambitions are about to extend further.
"Okay, thank you, Your Majesty."
The next morning, Doris began packing, accompanied by her personal maid. Doris didn't call many maids to help her pack; she didn't want too many people to know she was leaving the palace. If word got out and reached Liang Di's ears, that vigilant girl would definitely guess something.
Besides, she didn't have much luggage to pack. She was going to find the tentacles, not on vacation, not really going to the beach for a relaxing getaway.
Gael was puzzled.
“Mother, are you sure you don’t need me to go with you?”
Doris stopped packing. “No, Gael. You can stay in the palace. While I’m gone, don’t go to the Langwendi residence or provoke Liang Di. Even if the King summons you to meet her, you mustn’t have any physical contact with her, and you can’t get too close. Do you understand?”
“Yes, I understand. This is the eighteenth time you’ve told me this. I’ve kept it in mind.”
Early on the third day, while it was still dark, Doris, accompanied by several maids and her personal guards, left the palace and headed for the seaside.
