V2: Chapter 175: The Horrifying Room

After the King left, Duke Brewster cautiously opened the door. Before even seeing the scene inside, he was hit by a stench of urine and fish.

"Ugh."

He frowned, covered his mouth and nose, and stared intently into the room.

Moonlight filtered through the narrow window, casting dappled shadows, barely illuminating a corner of the horrifying scene. Duke Brewster couldn't see clearly, so he lit a candle, its small flame instantly illuminating half the room.

Inside, everything seemed so unnatural, as if corrupted by some evil force. Furniture was overturned, an exquisitely carved wooden table overturned, littered with broken porcelain and dried blood. On the walls, the mural of a young girl was torn to shreds, the figure in the painting seemingly speaking of fear in a distorted posture.

Most chilling was the scene on the floor.

The dark, viscous slime, like the saliva of a demon, spread irregularly, emitting a nauseating stench. Within this slime, fragments of tattered clothing, broken bones, and unrecognizable human tissue were vaguely visible, mercilessly torn and twisted, scattered across the floor as a testament to this unknown catastrophe.

Duke Brewster's legs buckled, and he collapsed to his knees.

"Oh, my God..."

The air seemed to freeze, every subtle sound amplified in the silence. The occasional drip of water from the walls mingled with the slime on the floor, producing dull, thuds that added to the horror.

In this room, time seemed to lose its meaning, leaving only endless darkness and despair, silently devouring everything.

Duke Brewster couldn't even imagine what terrible things the King had experienced in this room.

A gust of cold wind blew through, causing the candlelight to flicker and cast even more eerie shadows. In the interplay of light and shadow, it seemed as if countless invisible eyes were watching everything, waiting for the next unfortunate victim.

Duke Brewster wanted to turn and run, but he dared not disobey Doris's orders. He was now in the same boat as Doris; if Gael succeeded to the throne, he would gain supreme power, countless gold and silver treasures, and unparalleled wealth and glory.

Inside the palace.

"You've come."

Doris, with her back to the King, spoke calmly.

The king, devoid of his usual lewd demeanor, simply replied, "I've come."

"That old man stinks horribly! I scared him so much he wets his pants! It's disgusting! Where's the bathroom? I need to go."

"There."

Doris didn't even turn her head.

“Doris, I think I should find a few boys or girls so I can experience what it's like to lose my mind.”

After his bath, the King, wearing a bathrobe, swaggered out and sat opposite Doris.

“This old man loses his mind too easily. I only scared him a little, before he even fell into a hallucination, his reason had completely vanished. This taste is not good at all; I still prefer resolute young men.”

The King picked up an apple from the table, took a bite, frowned, and spat it out.

“I really can't stand these things; they have a strange taste.”

Doris remained silent throughout until he finished speaking, then slowly said, “My Lord, you are 'Your Majesty' now.”

“Hmm~”

The King crossed his legs, completely lacking the demeanor of a king. “Now that I have become King, possessing his body, of course I am 'Your Majesty'.”

“Your Majesty, in a few days... I will need you to write your will, then commit suicide, and let Gael ascend the throne.”

The King nodded.

"Of course, I don't like this body either. In the next few days, find me a few good-looking young men and women. Once I've chosen a body, I'll write my will."

The King adjusted his bathrobe collar.

"But don't look for any more old men. No matter how high their position or power, I don't want them. They smell awful. And they're cowards, they wet their pants, disgusting."

The King's disgust was utterly undisguised.

He continued talking to himself, while Doris remained silent, only nodding slightly to indicate she understood. She lowered her head, a calculating glint in her eyes.

Meanwhile.

Liang Di had a bad feeling. She, Liang Lin, and the Third Prince Nicholas had already arrived at the Magic Tower.

Octaville and Hilary were forced to get up from the double bed.

"What happened?"

Octaville looked serious, even putting on her gold-rimmed glasses. Liang Lin and Liang Di wouldn't bring Nicholas to see them this late. If they did, something important or dangerous must have happened.

"Tower Master, as I told you last time, Doris disappeared. She returned this morning. I have a vague feeling that something is definitely going to happen again; she's definitely plotting something bad."

Nicholas clutched his chest, feeling his heart pounding fiercely, probably because of the connection between his heart and chest.

Octaville's expression hardened.

"The incident at the Seaside Magic Tower must have been her doing."

"Going to the Seaside Magic Tower now, I'm afraid it's too late, isn't it?"

Octaville waved her hand and sat up from the sofa.

"Come with me."

After everyone followed, Octaville said as they walked, "After the incident at the Seaside Magic Tower, I felt something was wrong. Although it was risky, I still did a complete overhaul, sending them back early and having others fill in. Those magicians are all under close observation. I knew something was going to happen, and now it's come in handy. There must be a traitor among us, and... maybe more than one."

"After all this time, haven't you found out who the traitor is?" Nicholas asked.

Octaville sighed, "Your Highness, you must understand a fact. Although it seems like two months have passed, in reality, the news of the Seaside Magic Tower reached us, then we sent people to relay the message, and then had them return—that alone took a month. In such a short time, how could we possibly identify the traitor?"

"Hmm... I was too hasty."

Whoosh!

Octaville used magic to light a row of torches, instantly illuminating the dimly lit magic tower corridor as bright as day. Five seconds later, the doors around the corridor opened one after another.
