V2: Chapter 181: Backstab Tentacle

"Are you trying to seduce a monster?"

Although he said this, the king was clearly intrigued. Despite not having many interest, his desire to reproduce propelled him forward.

Doris smiled slightly.

"Your Majesty, you are my husband now, aren't you? Why not try using a real human body? Perhaps the feeling will be different from using your true form?"

Doris spoke, taking a step forward and slowly walking towards the king.

She held two exquisite wine glasses in her hands.

"My dear, let's celebrate to our hearts' content, let's indulge ourselves for our future."

Doris said, hooking her arm around the king's.

The king, anticipating the wine cup offered, smiled slightly. "I don't particularly enjoy human wine, but if you insist, I'll reluctantly drink it."

The king took the cup, and Doris made a gesture as if to slip her arm through his and drink the wine together.

However, just as she was about to open her mouth, the king suddenly spoke.

"Wait!"

He pressed down on Doris's cup, the smile not reaching his eyes.

"Don't drink yet, I want to drink yours," the king drawled, his eyes fixed on her. "I think yours will be sweeter than mine. Don't you think so, Doris?"

Doris frowned, swirling the delicate bronze cup in her hand, meeting his gaze.

"What do you mean by this, my lord? Do you distrust me, thinking I would poison your wine?"

The king shook his head.

“How could that be? My dear Queen, you are my Queen now, how could I doubt you? Before this, I never doubted you in the slightest. But if you say that, then I really must begin to doubt you.”

The King laughed, a laugh tinged with an eeriness.

Doris laughed along.

“I was just making a little joke, Your Majesty, how could I possibly poison you?”

The King repeated his earlier words, “Then, let’s exchange this cup of wine, and then drink from the same cup. I think yours is thicker than mine, perhaps even tastier?”

Doris gripped the cup tightly.

“Both cups should look about the same, I put in the same good wine.”

The King’s smile widened, looking as if it would stretch to his ears, tearing his face apart. It became increasingly eerie; the curve of his lips was not that of a normal human. Of course, he wasn’t a normal human either.

"Doris, is that so? I thought you really wanted to poison me."

The next second, Doris burst out laughing. She took the wine glass from the other person's hand with her other hand, then placed her own glass in his hand.

"My lord, I was just joking with you, but it doesn't seem to be very funny to you. I won't do it again next time."

With that, Doris tilted her head back and drank the wine in the other person's glass in one gulp.

"However, we humans habitually adjust our emotions before doing 'that,' I think that's the difference between us and you. Of course, if you don't want to drink, then don't. Just put it aside, and we can do 'that' between us."

Doris finished speaking, released his hand, and gently rested her head on his chest.

When she used her female tentacles, they always emitted a faint, alluring fragrance—not an ordinary fragrance, but a captivating one, capable of making one dizzy. Doris wasn't sure if this would work on other tentacles. But she tried anyway; there was no harm in trying.

The result was that she succeeded. The king felt a sense of unease and agitation, though he outwardly maintained a calm facade; inwardly, he was in turmoil.

He grabbed Doris's slender waist.

"Now that I'm human, and I'm going to have some human contact with you, then of course, I'll make the best of it."

As he said this, Doris's eyes brightened.

The king brought the cup to his lips, as if to drink.

But a second before he did, he pulled the cup away. In an instant, the light in Doris's eyes dimmed considerably.

The king then brought the cup to Doris's lips.

"You take a sip first, then I'll drink. This is what you humans call an indirect kiss, right? Sounds romantic, I'd like to try it."

Doris understood what he meant. He was using her as a test subject. If she dared to drink, he would. But if she didn't, it meant there was definitely something wrong with the wine, and he would tear her apart.

Doris didn't panic at all. She took his hand, put the glass in her mouth, and gulped it down. The glass wasn't big to begin with, and after two sips, it was half empty.

Only then did the king truly relax. He laughed heartily and stroked Doris's hair.

"You really are quite the charmer, aren't you?"

Doris was beautiful, and possessed an alluring fragrance that would seduce anyone, including the tentacles monster.

The king finally sure... He brought the wine glass to his lips again.

"Glug."

The instant the liquid entered his mouth, a chilling sensation spread from his throat throughout his body, as if a thousand needles were piercing every inch of his skin. He jerked his eyes open, a flash of terror crossing them, followed by an extremely malicious expression.

"Doris! What did you give me to drink?!"

Doris shoved him away, knocking him to the ground.

"Guess what it is? Don't ask me without guessing."

"You...!"

The words caught in his throat; he couldn't speak.

Because... his skin began to contort, and beneath it, countless slender tentacles seemed to struggle, trying to break free. He groaned in pain, his hands clutching his chest, but he couldn't stop the changes in his body.

As the poison took effect, his skin gradually became transparent, revealing the outlines of the writhing tentacles beneath. The tentacles themselves began to appear, writhing like living things, emitting hissing sounds; they yearned for freedom, yet were tightly bound by his skin.

Sweat and tears mingled, blurring his vision.
