V2: Chapter 185: Who Said We're an Old Married Couple?!

Liang Lin laughed, a wide, hearty laugh that revealed eight perfectly white teeth.

"Sister, there are so many kinds of chicken soup in the world, but I still love yours the most."

"Hahahaha..."

The two sisters burst into laughter.

"So, after drinking the chicken soup your sister made for you, are you still confused?"

"Not confused anymore, not confused at all."

Liang Lin wiped away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes and gripped the hilt of her sword again.

"You're right, I really should work harder, um... although I used to work pretty hard."

Liang Lin was never modest.

"Yes, I've seen all your efforts, we've all seen them."

Octaville's voice came from behind. She approached with a smile, arms crossed. "I knew leaving you with your sister would help you."

Behind her followed Liang Di, carrying a small box.

"What's this?"

Liang Lin pointed to the small box in Liang Di's hand.

“Oh, this,” Liang Di said cautiously. “It contains some new potions made by Professor Prescott, who said they might be helpful to us.”

“But he said he couldn’t guarantee whether they would actually help. Well... roughly speaking, if you haven’t been severely poisoned by the royal poisons, drinking this potion might offer some relief.”

“However, the problem is that no one has ever been poisoned by the royal poison, and we don’t know what it looks like or how it works—is it a spray or something? Well… if no one has been poisoned, how can there be an antidote? So Professor Prescott said he’s not entirely sure if the potion he made will actually work.”

Octaville picked up the conversation.

“That’s right, but something is better than nothing, isn’t it? So after Liang Di and I finished investigating the area around the palace, we brought this potion back.”

“Liang Di, take the potion to the kitchen storeroom, put it in a corner, and make sure no one breaks it.”

“Okay.”

Liang Di carried the small box into the magic tower.

“Sister, how’s your training going?”

Octaville looked at Liang Lin.

Liang Lin drew her longsword.

“I practiced all afternoon, and my skills are still as good as ever. It’s just that I haven’t had any real combat experience, so I’m not sure if I can handle Doris.”

“As for Doris... well, if I were to fight her, she would definitely be no match for me. You could say she wouldn’t even be a match for Liang Di. But you know, there’s poison in the palace. As the queen, she’ll definitely know how to deal with us.”

Octaville looked somewhat frustrated as she said this.

"Tsk."

"The king is dead. The one who inherits the secret of this poison is Gael. The High Priest will tell him this secret, along with other royal secrets, on his first day in office. Gael seems like the kind of child who would listen to Doris, so Doris will understand too."

Liang Lin weakly raised her hand.

"Since the High Priest knows the secret of this medicine, why don't we go and..."

"Idiot!"

Hilary delivered a chop to Liang Lin's head.

"Ouch!"

Liang Lin clutched her head, wincing in pain as she crouched down, tears welling in her eyes.

Hilary's strength is as great as ever; sister-in-law Octaville is suffering.

"Since the High Priest knows the secret of the medicine, and knows how to deal with us, of course he'll have a backup plan. If we go, won't we just be doomed?"

Hilary stood with her hands on her hips, looking at her foolish sister with exasperation.

"Eating only builds strength, not brains."

Liang Lin squatted down, rubbing her head.

"Then just let me go there. He's just a high priest, nothing special. I can just kill my way in."

"While your idea isn't bad, but... he lives in the palace, heavily guarded. Even if you're incredibly strong, able to fight a hundred men, you can't withstand a hail of arrows, right?"

Octaville squatted down and gently rubbed Liang Lin's head.

"Alright, don't overthink it. We've had the same ideas you've had, but we rejected them all."

"Oh..."

Liang Lin muttered unhappily.

Liang Di emerged from the magic tower.

"What are you all talking about? The atmosphere is so tense."

"We're talking about the poison. We don't know what to do," Octaville said.

Liang Di sighed in response.

They talked and talked from daytime until evening, without reaching a conclusion.

It was getting late, and Liang Lin and Liang Di should head home.

After arriving home,

"Sister Liang Lin, how was your day?"

"Sister Liang Lin, I haven't been by your side all day, did you miss me?"

"Sister Liang Lin, why aren't you looking me in the eyes? Are you angry because I didn't spend time with you?"

"Sister Liang Lin!"

"Sister Liang Lin..."

She kept calling her "Sister Liang Lin," like a little shadow.

Liang Lin, who had been racking her brains trying to figure out how to deal with Doris, was now being disturbed by Liang Di and forced to abandon her thinking.

"Today was alright."

"Maybe a little."

"I'm not angry."

"...."

"...."

How could this not be considered a good wife who answers every question?

Although she only answered with a few words, she remembered all of Liang Di's questions, unlike some boyfriends or girlfriends who only reply with the last question...

"Then kiss me, okay? I didn't just miss you a little, I really missed you."

Liang Di felt that she and Liang Lin were practically an old married couple now, and it was time for some sweet affection and interaction. She naturally raised her arm, put it on the other's shoulder, pouted, and asked for a kiss.

Liang Lin: "...."

The surrounding maids: "...?"

We shouldn't be here, we should be downstairs.

Liang Lin stiffly turned her head, looking at the surrounding maids: "..."

The maids:

"Oh dear, why is there so much dust on this floor? I clearly remember wiping it just now!"

They started frantically scrubbing the floor.

"Oh dear! There seems to be a damn bug over there, I'll go kill it!"

They swatted at the air.

"Damn it! The vegetables are in the sink—no, in the pot! I forgot to take them out!"

She ran downstairs, tripping halfway down.

"This, this door... it really does look like a door... uh..."

She genuinely didn't know what to say.
