V3: Chapter 3: I Want to Be Together Openly

"Pfft, cough cough!"

Liang Lin almost spat out her tea.

Is this girl really that obsessed with having a child? We have only just finished our work, and she's already thinking about having a baby.

Liang Di looked at her reaction and felt a little disappointed. She thought she wasn't willing.

"Could it be, Liang Lin, that you're going back on your word?"

"How could I?"

Liang Lin hated being accused of breaking promises.

"Since I promised you, I will definitely do it. But, but don't you think we're moving a little too fast?"

Liang Di turned around and saw Carol playing with Gladys and Laura.

"Too fast?"

"But our eldest daughter is almost six years old."

Uh.

It seems that's true.

Aren't they in a kind of arranged marriage that blossomed into love? Like the protagonists in some domineering CEO novels.

“Hiss~”

Liang Di quickly raised one hand.

“Sister Liang Lin, don’t worry, this time, if you don’t want to get pregnant, then I’ll give birth, I’ll get pregnant, and I’ll give birth, I’ll feel your pain, okay?”

Looking like a pitiful little dog.

Liang Lin hesitated for a moment.

“Wait, Liang Di, I don’t think I’ve said I want to marry you yet.”

Liang Lin suddenly seemed to remember something, as if waking from a dream.

“Right, I don’t think I’ve agreed to be with you yet, right?”

Liang Di blinked twice, “But we’ve already kissed and hugged, doesn’t kissing and hugging make us a couple?”

Uhhh...

Liang Lin couldn’t say anything. To be honest, when it came to having children, she was still a little awkward and shy. She said that just now only to divert Liang Di’s attention.

But Liang Di didn’t think so.  She thought Liang Lin wanted her to show her her love.

So...

"Sister Liang Lin, I understand."

Liang Di nodded to herself.

Liang Lin: "??"

What does this girl understand?!

A bad premonition suddenly rose in her heart, feeling that Liang Di was going to pull some kind of trick again, just like last time when she wanted to give her a brown bear as a gift.

Under Liang Lin's horrified and suspicious gaze, Liang Di "slipped" to her feet and took several steps back.

"Where are you going?"

Liang Di shook her head, her voice rising.

"Sister Liang Lin, I'm not going anywhere!"

Oh no, the bad premonition in her heart grew stronger.

Her bad premonition was right.

Because...

Thump!

Liang Di suddenly knelt on one knee in front of Liang Lin, then took out a huge gemstone ring from her pocket. Her expression was radiant, her tone full of affection.

"Sister Liang Lin! Please marry me!"

Liang Lin: "...."

Gladys and Laura, who were playing with Carol nearby were dumbfounded.

Carol didn't react at first, but after she did, her eyes widened instantly, and she started clapping her hands, laughing heartily.

The other maids who were working: "....."

Get back to work, get back to work!

We don't hear anything, we don't see anything! Good heavens! This is terrifying...

One of the young ladies from the Langwendi family actually proposed to another young lady.

The maids ran off in a chaotic panic, some even abandoning their brooms.

Liang Lin covered her face.

"Liang Di! You're so stupid, so incredibly stupid!"

After saying that, ignoring Liang Di kneeling on one knee, Liang Lin covered her face and quickly ran towards the front door.

What a disgrace! Marriage? What if word gets out?

We nominally still called each other sisters, but if others heard this, they'd all think it was incestuous and a same-sex relationship! If this got out, our reputation would be terrible!

Liang Lin was extremely annoyed. She pushed open the door and went upstairs.

Liang Di followed closely behind.

"Sister Liang Lin, what's wrong? Is the gem not big enough?"

"Or is the occasion inappropriate? It really should have been more elaborate. Proposing like this... I was indeed hasty; I should have prepared more in advance."

Liang Di kept muttering to herself.

"Liang Di!"

Liang Lin stopped and suddenly turned around. Liang Di was caught off guard and bumped into her. She took a step back, almost falling to the ground, but Liang Lin caught her by the waist, allowing her to regain her balance. Liang Di, being mischievous, snuggled into Liang Lin's arms.

"Sister Liang Lin... what's wrong? I'll definitely arrange things properly next time, just look forward to it..."

Liang Lin felt a headache coming on; the other person didn't understand what she meant.

"Liang Di, I was saying... sigh, don't you think we're being too intimate? Well, you can't say that. We can be as intimate as we want in private, but... but with so many people around, if we're this close... what will people say about us if word gets out?"

Liang Di frowned, looking at Liang Lin.

"Sister Liang Lin, then... do we have to be together like this, so timid and hesitant, for the rest of our lives?"

Liang Lin's throat bobbed.

“Yes, Liang Di, that's how our world is. This isn't allowed. If others find out, your reputation…”

“I don't care about my reputation,” Liang Di interrupted, her eyes fixed intently on her. “I want everyone to know about our relationship. We're not just sisters, we're a real couple.”

“But I do care.”

Liang Lin growled, “I'm not saying I care about my reputation, it's about you, Liang Di. You're going to be the head of the Langwendi family.”

“Becoming the head of the family and loving you, and wanting everyone to know about our relationship—what's the conflict?”

“Sister Liang Lin, I don't want us to keep doing this so secretly anymore. At least, I don't want to see those densely packed love letters and marriage proposals arriving at our house anymore. I don't want to see other people introducing us to potential suitors. I don't want this anymore. I get jealous, I get angry.”

Liang Di's voice trembled with a hint of a sob.

“Sister Liang Lin, I hate this…”

Liang Lin hated it too.

She suddenly felt a surge of resentment. If only she were still in a male body, she wouldn't have to face all the gossip. A couple of the same sex always faced so much scorn and slander.

A tear rolled down her cheek, and Liang Di actually cried.

Seeing Liang Di cry, Liang Lin panicked.

"Hey, I said, don't cry."

"You, you know, I panic when I see you cry..."

Liang Lin softened her tone.

Her fingertips gently brushed against Liang Di's delicate cheek.

Years of sword practice had left calluses on her hands, which stung Liang Di's face slightly.
