V3: Chapter 26: The Tentacle-Handed Wife
Perhaps due to an overflowing maternal instinct, Liang Di has now started learning how to make children's clothes from others.
"So, is this your reason for making me winter gloves?"
Liang Lin picked up a crookedly embroidered glove.
"Uh."
Reluctant to dampen Liang Di's eagerness to learn and her self-esteem, Liang Lin stammered for a long time, unable to utter a single word of praise.
"Tsk."
Liang Di stared at Liang Lin with those big, watery eyes, making Liang Lin feel extremely uncomfortable, unable to utter a single word of praise. She simply couldn't look into someone's eyes and say something against her conscience, anything to praise them.
"Um, well… I, I can tell, it's a glove."
Liang Lin guiltily looked away.
Just then, her gaze fell on another glove that looked quite decent.
"Oh!"
Liang Lin picked up the glove, examining it in her palm from side to side.
Hmm, finally, she could say something complimentary.
"It's getting better and better!"
Liang Lin gave Liang Di a thumbs up.
"It's normal for the first glove to be ugly. Everyone makes a first mistake. You'll get better with practice. Look at this one, how beautiful it is! It's okay, Liang Di, you can make them even prettier, just like this one. You'll definitely make them even better!"
After saying this, Liang Lin became quite smug.
I really know how to praise people!
"....."
Liang Di's face fell instantly.
"Sister Liang Lin..."
Liang Di's tone was also dejected.
"That glove was knitted by Bellica. She used it when she was demonstrating for me."
Liang Lin: "....."
Oh no, she'd flattered the wrong person.
"Uh."
Liang Lin was speechless for a moment, unable to utter a single word to salvage the situation. She couldn't bear to look at Liang Di; the little girl's eyes were brimming with tears, and the little pearl was about to fall to the ground.
What a mess.
I really didn't know! There was no sign saying who knitted it, so how could I know who knitted it!
At that moment, Liang Di pitifully grabbed the hem of Liang Lin's clothes.
"Sister Liang Lin, is my knitting really that bad? You just said it was ugly."
"....."
Liang Lin began to have some doubts. Did Liang Di genuinely think her knitting was alright, or did she have a problem with her aesthetic sense, or was she just feigning ignorance and throwing a little tantrum?

The door opened.
Liang Lin turned around abruptly, as if seeing a savior.
She knew that the only person who would enter the room without knocking was that little brat, Carol.
Great! I can use this child as a shield!
Liang Lin excitedly waved to Carol.
"Carol, quick, quick, my dear daughter, quick, quick, come here!"
This action startled Carol, who was about to walk over. She hesitated for a moment and stood still.
"Mama, I suspect you have ulterior motives."
"Am I that kind of person? Come here quickly, your Mommy knitted you some pretty little gloves, I want you to try them on, I'm just so excited!"
Liang Lin felt that she had become much more tactful in her dealings with people. Before, she would never have said such "deceptive" things.
"Eh?"
Children who haven't experienced the harsh realities of society are always easily fooled.
Carol immediately lowered her guard, her little face beaming with a bright and cheerful smile. She ran over to Liang Lin and Liang Di.
"Mommy, what kind of little gloves did Mommy knit for me? I want to wear them, I want to wear them!"
Carol said, stretching out her small, delicate hands.
Liang Lin had no conscience whatsoever when she tricked her own child.
“Look, these are the little gloves your Mommy knitted for you. What do you think? Aren’t they pretty?”
A smug smile spread across Liang Lin’s face.
As everyone knows, smiles sometimes don’t disappear, they just shift. Carol’s smile shifted to Liang Lin’s, and at the same time, little Carol’s smile froze.
“No…”
Even if she was a child, she shouldn’t be treated like a little brat.
“These gloves are… too…”
Carol was about to make some “outrageous” comment when her gaze fell on Liang Di beside her.
Good heavens, her eyes were already brimming with tears, the little pearls about to fall.
"Gulp~"
The words that were on the tip of her tongue were swallowed back down.
Carol forced a smile.
"Hmm, it's... it's quite pretty. It's obviously a glove."
This was exactly the same compliment Liang Lin had given at the beginning—truly mother and daughter.
Liang Di sighed silently beside her.
"Sigh, I really am not good at knitting these things."
She said this while organizing the needles and thread, preparing to put them in a box.
Probably afraid that this girl was truly upset or heartbroken, Liang Lin quickly and awkwardly offered a few words of comfort.
"It's okay. If you're not good at this, there are other things you're even less good at...uh, no, no, there are other things you're good at. You're already good at so many things, you don't need to force yourself to do these things."
When it came to insulting someone, she was incredibly sharp, but when it came to praising someone, she was incredibly inarticulate and couldn't come up with a single proper compliment.
Liang Di's gloom lasted only a moment.
"I've decided!"
She clasped her hands together, her eyes brightening once more.
“Since I can’t knit well, I’ll learn to do something else! Let me think, what else can I do…”
Before Liang Lin and Carol could stop her, Liang Di made her decision.
“I’m going to learn how to make nutritious meals for my future baby! Hmm… I’ll do it right away…”
Liang Lin sighed and pressed down on Liang Di’s shoulder.
“Liang Di, you’re pregnant now, don’t overdo it. You can do whatever you want after you’re done with your pregnancy. You need to be careful now.”
Before Liang Di could argue, there was a knock on her door.
“Liang Di, it’s me.”
It was Octaville’s voice.
“Ah, come in,” Liang Di said.
Liang Lin released her hand and sat down on the sofa.
Octaville opened the door.
Her expression was very calm, as if nothing serious had happened, but the air was slightly heavy.
Then, the door closed.
“Liang Di, I originally planned to tell you about this after you gave birth, but… things have been getting increasingly turbulent lately.”
Octaville sighed, rubbing her slightly throbbing temples.
“There have been more and more incidents of monsters injuring people lately. In the last two weeks alone, there have been two incidents, more than ten times the number before.”
