V1: Chapter 32: I Actually Feel Safe in Your Arms

“Behave yourself.”

Liang Di’s voice was languid. Awakened, she wasn’t annoyed, but instead grabbed Liang Lin’s hand that was resting on her chest.

Cough cough cough.

No, wait, why the blush?

“How did I end up in your bed, Liang Di?”

Hearing this, Liang Di opened her eyes wide, her tone flippant, “Hmm~ I saw it. You sleepwalked and climbed up here. I was half asleep when you woke me up, but I was too embarrassed to wake you. After all… I heard that if you’re interrupted while sleepwalking, you’ll become an idiot.”

“…”

I don’t believe you!

“Nonsense!” Liang Lin said angrily, pulling her hand away, throwing back the covers, and preparing to go back to her chair to sleep.

“Wait…!” Liang Di grabbed her arm.

Liang Lin was about to get angry when she saw Liang Di’s ears perked up, her eyebrows furrowed, listening intently. Faced with Liang Lin’s angry yet questioning gaze, she simply made a “shh” gesture.

Then, a tentacle snaked to the window and forced it open.

At this moment, Liang Lin realized something was wrong. She looked at Liang Di, who looked back at her. The two girls silently shut their mouths and tiptoed to the window, peering through the tiny crack opened by the tentacle to observe the strange noises outside.

Nothing there…

“Pfft!”

Liang Lin was looking around when she suddenly felt a violent blow to her kidney, almost spitting out blood. She endured the pain and turned to look at the culprit beside her. Liang Di pointed in a direction, gesturing for Liang Lin to look.

Damn it… Liang Lin cursed inwardly, but still looked in the direction Liang Di was pointing.

Eh? What’s that…? Like flowing liquid gold…

No, it’s human hair!

In the moonlight, the flowing golden hair shimmered, hurting Liang Lin’s eyes.

Liang Di sniffed hard, frowned, and whispered in Liang Lin's ear, "Can you smell blood?"

Liang Lin also sniffed twice.

There was indeed a faint smell of blood in the air.

"Mmm."

Hiss~

This scene was just so eerie, so wrong...

But what was wrong?

Liang Lin stared at the girl, her mind exploding.

"Liang Di, she's standing on top of the stable shed!"

There's no ladder there. How did such a small, thin girl get up there?

Liang Di grabbed a coat from the side and draped it over her shoulders. "Come on, let's go downstairs!"

At that moment, the girl seemed to have heard Liang Di's commotion. She turned sharply, meeting Liang Lin's gaze, who was still leaning against the window. Their blood-red eyes clashed. Liang Lin grabbed Liang Di's wrist as she finished putting on her coat and prepared to get out of bed.

“Too slow.”

“Ugh!”

Liang Di was pulled into Liang Lin’s arms.

“Hook your arms around my neck.” Liang Lin didn’t look at Liang Di in her arms, but simply lifted her leg, grabbed her waist, and carried her in a princess carry.

The next second.

Bang!

The window was kicked open. Before Liang Lin could even lower her raised leg, the blonde girl, startled, started running across the stable roof, seemingly trying to climb over the hotel wall.

Liang Lin bent down, half her body already leaning out of the window.

“Hey! Liang Lin! This is the third floor!”

Liang Lin didn’t even blink. “Just the third floor...”

Before she finished speaking, Liang Lin used a boost, leaping into the air.

Through the cold moonlight, Liang Di’s gaze lingered on Liang Lin’s face.

Liang Lin, like a phantom, had eyes as deep as an abyss, radiating endless charm.

In the darkness, the woman's silhouette softened and blurred, her fierce aura diminished considerably.

The wind whistled past their ears as Liang Lin clung tightly to Liang Di's waist. For some reason, this made Liang Di feel safe and secure.

"Don't be afraid, you won't die from the fall."

Thud!

Liang Lin landed steadily on the stable shed.

Luckily, the shed wasn't made of straw, otherwise they would have fallen into the herd of horses.

At this moment, the blonde girl had already reached the wall, glanced back at them, then turned back and continued running.

"This is what Grandma meant by 'vampire princess,' right? Liang Di, hold on tight, don't let go."

"...Okay!"

Liang Lin, holding Liang Di, ran incredibly fast, Liang Di's long, silver-white hair casting a dazzling shadow across the night sky.

The blonde girl probably hadn't expected that Liang Lin, like a superwoman, could run as fast as her while carrying someone in her arms.

When she looked back again, she found Liang Lin had already darted up to her not far behind. Startled, her already pale face turned even paler. She rubbed her eyes in disbelief, and after confirming she wasn't mistaken, she mustered all her strength and ran forward, jumping over the wall and scaling the roof of the inn.

Liang Lin followed her, jumping over the wall and scaling the roof.

"Huff...huff..."

This chase lasted for about five or six minutes, until they ran out of the bustling streets and into a secluded forest. The blonde girl plunged into the woods, and Liang Lin followed without hesitation.

The woman suddenly stopped, standing stiffly with her back to them. Liang Lin also braked sharply, watching the girl's back warily.

"Hey... are you two going to follow me forever?"

The girl shouted, turning around and glaring angrily at Liang Lin and Liang Di.

The girl looked very young, with chubby cheeks and a short stature, almost a head shorter than Liang Lin. She was wrapped in a tattered robe, and her shoes were worn and tattered, even riddled with holes.

Liang Lin put Liang Di down, staring intently at the girl. She drew a long sword from her waist, held it to her chest, and straddled the wall, ready for battle at any moment.

"Did you kill them?" Liang Di asked.

The girl was taken aback, then gritted her teeth, "So what if I did! Besides, some of them weren't killed by me!"

"Then how did they die?"

"They were playing around and got scratched by nails! It's not my fault!"

Huh?

Liang Lin and Liang Di were both bewildered, both saying: They didn't understand.

"Before you lie, you should at least make up a reasonable excuse, right? With an excuse like that, anyone with a normal brain wouldn't believe it."

Liang Lin was speechless.

The girl seemed anxious, stomping her feet twice, then crouching down and touching her shoes with a pained expression.

"I'm telling the truth...! Can you please stop following me? I'm going to go hungry again today..." Her voice was pitiful, even tinged with a sob.

Oh?

It seems this guy was interrupted before she even had a chance to drink human blood.

After confirming her suspicions, Liang Lin charged forward, sword in hand.

The girl dodged the attack with astonishing leaping ability.

"We have no grudge against each other..." The girl stood on a tree, the hood of her cloak obscuring her eyes, making her expression unreadable. "If you insist on killing me, then don't blame me... for being impolite!"

The girl leaped down from the tree, kicking straight at Liang Lin.
