V2: Chapter 11: Road to Revenge

Upon hearing the news, Liang Lin instantly became excited. She slammed her hands on the table, making a loud thud, her voice filled with barely concealed excitement.

“Uncle! Where is she?!”

Sylvester's face was ashen.

“In the Heraze Empire… Sassoon City.”

Sassoon City, the neighboring city, is located near the border of the Soteland Empire.

“That makes things easier.”

Liang Lin smiled cruelly, twirling the small dagger in her hand. “That’s too easy, Uncle. Sneaking in is quite simple, especially with my unfamiliar face. I look like a delicate girl. Whether it’s day or night, sneaking in is incredibly easy.”

Sylvester remained silent.

He didn’t plead for Irene, nor did he try to persuade Liang Lin. That was something Irene owed Liang Lin; what right did he have to advise her?

He wasn't the one who was killed, nor was he the one who was framed. If he were to step in and offer advice now, it would be too much of a saintly act.

"Uncle, you can't bear for me to kill her, can you?"

To be honest, Liang Lin felt a chill run down her spine when she said this. She saw the grim look on her uncle's face and thought Sylvester wanted to stop her revenge.

"Liang Lin..." Sylvester sighed heavily, as if making a difficult decision. "Liang Lin, I have no other requests, only one. Please give Irene a quick death. Kill her with one stroke. Don't torture her."

He had witnessed Liang Lin's methods of torture before. Whether it was severing tendons or ligaments, stabbing people in insensitive spots, or cutting people up like sashimi, he had seen it all. He had also marveled at the child's ruthlessness, but Liang Lin said that she wasn't torturing people, but animals. What was there to pity about animals? They deserved it.

Liang Lin, filled with righteous hatred, resorted to violence to combat violence.

Ah… so it wasn't about stopping me.

Liang Lin's expression softened slightly, and she nodded. “Alright, Uncle, I agree to your request.”

Sylvester knew he couldn't stop his nephew from killing his niece. The only thing he could do was to make Irene's death quick and painless.

Irene was destined to die. From the moment Liang Lin was reborn, her fate of being killed was sealed.

“There's no time to lose, Uncle. I came today to talk to you about going to the battlefield, but it seems my men can rest for a few more days.” Liang Lin smiled faintly, tucking the small knife back into her sleeve and standing up straight. “Alright, Uncle, I'm leaving tomorrow for Sassoon City. I'm going to take revenge. I'm so excited I can't sleep.”

From the moment she learned that Irene had drugged her, Irene had been erased from her family.

"I'll go back and make some preparations. You don't need to send anyone with me. Following me will only be a burden. What's that called again? 'Me and my weaknesses,' haha~ Anyway, I'm enough on my own. Don't send anyone to hold me back."

Liang Lin finished speaking, in high spirits. She pushed open the door to her room, then glanced back at the grim-faced Sylvester.

"Uncle, I know you're upset, but someone like Irene is just a disgrace to the family. Besides, she's useless, and all she thinks about is men. She's no use in the family, is she? It's better to kill her sooner rather than later, so as not to bring shame to our family."

Her voice was devoid of emotion as she spoke, as if she were killing not a person, but a pig, or stepping on an ant.

"Uncle, see you in a few days. Wait for my good news~"

Liang Lin skipped back to her room, her running posture almost causing the little tentacle on her stomach to fall off.

"Oh, little one, I'm taking you to the neighboring empire! I'll show you what people in that shameless empire look like."

Liang Lin patted the little one's head.

"You'll see Mommy kill people, but don't be afraid. If you are... it's okay. You'll get used to it after watching a few times."

Thankfully, the little tentacle couldn't understand. If it could, it would definitely reply with a string of ellipses.

What kind of mother educates her child like that?

Liang Lin only brought a small bag containing water, some medicine for bruises and sprains, and a few pieces of dry bread. She really wanted to put her child in the bag too, but she was afraid of suffocating the baby, so she had to keep the child on her belly.

"Sigh, when will you grow up and become a human child? Then you can stay at home by yourself, and I won't have to take you with me anymore."

Before leaving, Liang Lin found Ulysses.

“Ulysses, I need to go to Sassoon City. My dear cousin, Irene, is hiding there. I need to find her; that way, I can finally put an end to this worry.”

Ulysses was somewhat worried. “My lord, let me go with you. That way… we can look out for each other.”

Liang Lin waved her hand.

“No need. You and the brothers can stay here. I admit, you're a strong fighter, and very strong, but you lack agility and adaptability. You'll only be a hindrance there. You'll even have trouble getting into Sassoon City; you'll probably be stopped right outside.”

Ulysses knew he couldn't persuade Liang Lin, but he was worried. They argued for a while, and finally, Liang Lin lost her patience.

“Ulysses, don't forget, you're my subordinate. If I make a good decision, don't interfere anymore. Just do your job, and at other times, obey my orders.”

Despite her small size, her presence was incredibly intimidating; just standing there was oppressive.

That familiar look—a prelude to anger.

Ulysses obediently shut his mouth.

"Understood, Your Excellency."

Liang Lin nodded in satisfaction, tiptoed, raised her hand, and patted the other's shoulder.

"That's my obedient subordinate. Go tell the brothers I'm leaving soon."

"Yes, Your Excellency."

Assassination was also one of Liang Di's specialties.

However, before she even reached the border between the frontier and Sassoon City, she was stopped by soldiers.

"Miss, you can't go any further," said a soldier from the Sotland Empire. "If you continue, you'll be entering the territory of the Heraze Empire."

Liang Lin was startled, then immediately understood.

“They’ve already captured this far…” she sighed, gazing at the endless wasteland ahead. It was a desolate landscape, with only limp, lifeless weeds lying on the ground.

“Yes, Miss, if you continue forward, you’ll encounter danger.”

It was indeed impossible to go any further.

But that was the only road leading to Sassoon City…

Liang Lin was troubled.

Was her path of revenge ending before it even began?

Did she have to go to the battlefield and conquer Sassoon City?

But there was a high possibility that her cousin and lover, seeing the situation was unfavorable, had retreated prematurely. Then, if she lost track of them again, where would she find those adulterous lovers?

Looking at the desolation ahead, Liang Lin was filled with worry.

“Miss, is there something you need to do up ahead?” a soldier asked.

Of course, Liang Lin couldn’t reveal her purpose, so she gave a vague answer. Lost in thought, a sudden inspiration struck her, and she slapped her forehead.

"Oh dear! My brain!"

Why can't I be more flexible?

Why insist on taking this route?

She could go to the neighboring border city, then enter the Lancelot Empire, which is relatively friendly with the Soteland Empire, and then, through the Lancelot Empire, enter the Sassoon City of the Heraze Empire.

She had never heard of any war between the Lancelot Empire and the Heraze Empire; the two empires were relatively friendly, and civilians could travel between them, although there were routine checks at the city gates, at least she could sneak in.

However, this method was just too exhausting. It involved passing through several cities, increasing the distance, and would probably take a week.

Liang Lin was annoyed but helpless.

Actually, she could sneak in at night, but that method was far too dangerous. If she accidentally alerted the soldiers, even with her superb swordsmanship, she couldn't defeat hundreds of soldiers.

"Sigh..."

Alright, let's just treat it as a casual stroll to clear our heads.

She hadn't had a proper rest on the way to the border, plagued by pregnancy symptoms the whole way, with no interest in sightseeing or leisure. Now that she knew roughly where her killer was, she could finally relax on the road.

Hmm... with my child.

Liang Lin's hand unconsciously touched her belly; the soft little one was now wrapped around her waist, the closest place to her womb, the closest place to the home that had nurtured it.

Without further ado, Liang Lin immediately began her journey.

At this moment, Octaville and Hilary finally noticed her unusual behavior.

"Huh? Why did she leave again?"

Because the magic crystal sphere could only display images, not sounds, and they had been busy with other things and hadn't seen Liang Lin and Sylvester's conversation, they were completely unaware of Liang Lin's next plan.

Teleportation magic circles have limitations; they have a certain range and can't teleport that far directly.

If they want to teleport, they have to draw a magic circle first, teleport a certain distance, then draw another magic circle, and teleport a certain distance again. It would take several trips to reach the border.

Furthermore, teleportation magic circles are very energy-consuming; they can only use them a maximum of ten times a day, and even then, only those with abundant magic power can manage that.

“My body can’t handle more than ten times…” Octaville scratched her head. “You always said I couldn’t handle it. Anyone who can handle ten times is a real woman!”

“Hmm, okay, okay, I wasn’t talking about you.” Hilary stared intently at the magic crystal ball. “To be honest, I believe in my sister’s abilities, but her IQ isn’t particularly high… well, she’s rather naive, easily trusting others. I don’t know if that’s changed.”

“Well, it’s okay, as long as I focus more on her lately.”

Hilary noticed her sister’s flat stomach.

“Hmm… she did have an abortion after all. That will probably cause some damage to her body, but there’s nothing that can be done about it.”

Octaville thought for a moment, then cautiously asked, “Honey, I have a question for you. I hope you won’t be angry.”

“Hmm? Go ahead.”

“If Liang Lin… I mean, if she comes back, would you still want her and Liang Di to be together?”

“Uh…”

Hilary was silent for a moment.

“Fu, actually, this isn’t my business. Even though I personally don’t want my sister to be with someone who hurt her, it’s her decision who she’s with, and I have no right to interfere.”

Hilary shrugged.

“This is, after all, her feelings, not mine. I’m just her sister. What I think might bring her happiness, she might not be happy with. Similarly, what I think might bring her unhappiness, she might find happiness with. So, this kind of thing isn’t my concern.”

“If she feels she’ll be happy with Liang Di in the future, then I’ll support her choice, and I won’t speak ill of you in front of her. Liang Di is a good girl. She has some issues, but that doesn’t mean she’s a bad girl. To be honest, I don’t really like her right now, but I won’t deny her goodness and excellence.”

“Hmm…”

Octaville nodded thoughtfully.

“Darling, I still hope my daughter can find happiness.”

“Yes, Fu, but I don’t want you to try and bring them together.”

“I know, darling.” Octaville put her arm around Hilary’s shoulder. “That’s their business, not ours to worry about. Let nature take its course.”

Hilary continued staring at the magic crystal ball. “Sometimes, I really feel like a villain, sacrificing so much to achieve my goals.”

“…”

Octaville was silent for a moment, then forced a stiff smile.

“Darling, don’t think too much. Go and rest. I have some leads on the spy. I should be able to catch him in a few days.”

These past few days, Liang Lin had been quite comfortable. On the morning of the last day of the week, she arrived at the gates of Sassoon City. Ahead of her were a few scattered people, all Lancelots trying to enter Sassoon City.

"Uncle, what are you doing going over there?"

Liang Lin hadn't thought of a reason yet, but she asked the person in front of her why they wanted to enter Sassoon City.

"Ah, my daughter married into Sassoon City, I'm going to see her."

Ah, right!

That's a good reason!

Liang Lin thought she could say that her cousin married into Sassoon City, and she missed her cousin, so she was going to "visit" her.

In a sense, that was telling the truth.

Soon, it was Liang Lin's turn.

"Brother, my cousin married into Sassoon City, I'm going in to visit her. I miss her so much; we haven't seen each other for over half a year." Liang Lin said this with a hint of sarcasm.

The soldier, hearing the pleasant female voice, looked up at Liang Lin.

Liang Lin was beautiful, though a bit fierce, but that didn't stop the soldiers from being momentarily stunned by her beauty. That's probably one of the advantages of being pretty; the soldiers didn't give her too much trouble, unlike how they had interrogated the Lancelot men before them.

They did question Liang Lin, but it was mostly trivial matters and flirtatious remarks.

"Little sister, aren't you scared coming alone?"

"Yes, you look so young. Are your family really comfortable letting you go out alone?"

"How old are you? What's your name?"

"Xiao Lin? That's a beautiful name, just like your looks."

"Little sister, you have a really elegant air about you. Are you the daughter of some wealthy merchant?"

Liang Lin's patience was almost completely exhausted; she was about to throw a punch when the soldiers finally let her in.

After she left, the soldiers were still admiring her beauty, but their words were no longer kind.

"Her looks... I always thought she'd be some nobleman's mistress."

"Haha~ Yeah, she looks so vicious. What a waste, so beautiful."

"Sigh, don't even think about it. She's definitely after someone higher up; she wouldn't even look at us soldiers."

Luckily, Liang Lin had already walked far enough away to hear this, otherwise she probably would have turned back and impulsively thrown a punch, which would have delayed her plans again.

Liang Lin first found an inn to stay at. She only knew that Irene was hiding in Sassoon City, but she didn't know her exact location, so she had to ask around, which would probably waste another two days.

Upon arriving at the inn, because she had woken up too early that morning to make the journey, she hadn't eaten breakfast. Liang Lin ate a hearty meal first, and then brought the little tentacle to her room to start breastfeeding it.

After a week, Liang Lin noticed that the little one's color had completely changed, becoming a pale, delicate white, much like human skin, without a trace of red. Even the suckers on her tentacles were gradually shrinking.

This further convinced her that her child would eventually become a normal child. Thinking this, she felt much more at ease; at least she could now openly hold her child's hand and take her out to play.

"But don't turn back into a baby now, okay? You have to wait until I take you back. If you turn now, you'll only be a burden, understand?"

The little one still didn't understand her words, drinking her milk with relish.

Inside the Magic Tower.

Hilary finally arrived at this moment. She had never looked at the magic crystal ball while Liang Lin was breastfeeding before. She opened the magic crystal ball, wanting to see what her little sister was doing.
