Volume 2 chapter 75

The Holy Light Theocracy.

Located in the central-eastern part of the Rodinia Continent, covering over a million square kilometers, it was divided into dozens of Dioceses.

At the center lay the Saint Michael Diocese, the Papal Domain named after the first Pope. The Holy City of Light was built here.

Central Temple of the Holy City.

In a pool of pure white water, seven figures slowly stood up and opened their eyes.

"Hoo..."

Instantly, a ripple surged through the tranquil temple. The aura of the Saint Rank poured out, disturbing the water's surface.

"Truly... what a Demon Lord..." Curtis clenched his fist, creating a sonic boom in his palm.

"We underestimated her..." Melton looked up, sighing.

"Finally recovered..." Wade stretched his limbs.

"I wonder how the battlefield is doing?" Schnett frowned.

"Hope it's alright..." Theia murmured with concern.

"Ah... I'm alive! Really... almost actually died there! Haha..." Brand laughed heartily.

"Is the old man not awake yet?" Soul Saint William looked around and noticed one person missing.

"Hm?"

Only then did the group realize that Pope Farragut was missing.

"Don't tell me the old man is still asleep?" William looked down and, sure enough, saw Farragut still sitting at the bottom of the pool.

"What's going on? He should recover faster than any of us here!" Curtis looked at the withered figure sitting in the lotus position, puzzled.

"No time to worry about that! Everyone!" Melton said seriously. "While we were sleeping, the Wall of Holy Light reported that the number of demons on the other side is increasing! And their rank is rising! They are impacting the Wall with increasing force!"

"What?!"

The Wall of Holy Light. The Abyss.

Countless demons covered the earth and sky, rushing toward the Wall like a black tsunami.

These demons were not like the humanoid ones in the Demon Realm. They were twisted, grotesque nightmares with no trace of humanity.

Goat-like Succubi, mist-form Shadow Demons, bat-like Blood Demons... and beyond them, horrors completely unlike the demons of the continent.

Giant insects rolling terrible compound eyes; hideous bodies assembled from bleached white bones; evil sludge formed from pitch-black chaos...

They came from Outside. Each one was a terrifying existence. Looking out, they were packed densely in the thousands, tens of thousands!

At this moment, they were driving even larger numbers of mid-rank demons to crash against the Wall of Holy Light continuously.

Even though the mid-rank demons were crushed into paste before they could touch the Wall, the High Demons showed no pity. Instead, they increased the intensity, throwing more meat into the grinder.

"When will this end..." A Centipede-like Demon stabbed a passing Sixth-Rank Demon with a blade-leg, lifting it to its mouth to gnaw on it irritably.

"If we don't use cannon fodder, will you go?" A giant Lizard-like Demon grabbed a lion-shaped Sixth-Rank Demon, ignored its struggles, and swallowed it whole.

"No!" the Centipede Demon replied instantly.

"Enough! You two!" A massive Goat Demon stood on a giant rock. "If you're free, come help! Stop snacking!"

"Fine!"

The two giant demons turned back to the Abyssal Passage. Here, not only were more demons flooding into Rodinia, but hundreds of Ninth-Rank Demons had gathered!

Countless low-to-mid-rank demons poured out like a tsunami, while the High-Rank and Ninth-Rank Demons mostly stayed in the passage.

The two demons joined a phalanx of Ninth-Rankers and began to exert their power.

Dark grey energy gathered, constantly repairing the cracks in the passage.

At the end of all cracks stood a blood-stained broken sword. It was stabbed into the passage, forcibly severing the connection between the two ends!

The demons carefully repaired the small cracks with their power, daring not touch the broken sword directly. Even after thirty thousand years, although the sword wasn't what it used to be, it was still untouchable for them!

After the Centipede and Lizard group took over, the previous shift of demons stepped down to rest, casually grabbing some nearby "snacks" to eat.

"Say, how strong is this generation's Hero? What percentage of the Original does he have?"

An Eagle-type Demon asked its companion.

Although these demons hadn't seen the Original Hero with their own eyes, looking at the broken sword he left behind, they could feel his power! But that sword was all they could touch. The Wall of Holy Light prevented them from entering Rodinia, so they could only guess, using the Original as a benchmark.

"To defeat Her Majesty Phyllis..." A glob of sticky black sludge spoke slowly. "Although Her Majesty was sealed for twenty thousand years and hadn't recovered, the Hero must be at least 30% of the Original!"

"That strong?!" An Octopus-like Demon gasped.

"Mm... We don't know Her Majesty's power at that moment, but with the blessing of My God, she wouldn't be lower than a Veteran Saint. If she retained Saint-level power, the blessing would push her to the Peak of Saint Rank! To defeat that, one needs at least Limit-Saint combat power. So, 30% of the Original is a reasonable estimate!" A demon with a bird's head and beast's body said, casually grabbing a lightning-shaped Sixth-Rank Thunder Demon and sucking it dry.

"Then shouldn't we slow down the assault on that Wall?" A Shark-type Demon asked.

"Mm..." The Bird-Headed Demon thought for a moment. "Makes sense! Facing a Hero of that level, even if we all rush in, it wouldn't be enough to kill him. We still have to rely on the Generals!"

"But the Generals outside demanded we break that Wall as soon as possible... if we do this..." The Eagle Demon shuddered, its massive body trembling at a terrifying thought.

"Don't worry. The Generals can't come over. They can't confirm the situation personally. No need to be so scared!" The Shark Demon waved its scythe-like 'hand'.

"After all, it's a wall erected by an existence with 90% of the Original's power. It's reasonable for us little ants to dig slowly! As long as we dig it down before Her Majesty Phyllis wakes up, it's fine! And looking at it now, Her Majesty won't wake up anytime soon!"

Saying this, it stabbed its 'hand' down, skewering a Wolf-type Sixth-Rank Demon, and bit off half of it with a mouth full of jagged teeth.

"True enough..." The Black Sludge rolled slowly, its massive body occasionally swallowing nearby demons and digesting them on the spot.

"Ah... actually, days like this aren't bad. No need to face the terrifying Generals, no need to face other monstrous powerhouses and die meaninglessly! What a nice place..."

Demon Realm. Dark City.

Clyris returned.

"Your Majesty, welcome back!"

Lilith and Cocytus, having recovered from their injuries, were also here.

Since the Alliance decided to turtle up, the demons finally had time to recover. Now, they had two Ninth-Rank Demons back in action.

But Clyris didn't come back for them.

"Take me to see Grayson!"
