Chapter 6: Substitute-chan
Substitute-chan
To begin with, the monsters I have defined are born without me having to do anything about it.
As a causal relationship, I thought that if beautiful girls had the mentality of the lowest-ranking people in their real life, and as they grew older, they would transform into beings that society could no longer forgive.
This thought led me to train Karen-chan and Kikka-chan.
So in the end, even if I didn't do anything, or to put it in my own words, even if I didn't water the seeds, somewhere unknown to me, a monster would still be born today.
I believe that whether or not a person transforms into a monster depends on the environment surrounding them and the environment in which they grew up.
So I gave Karen-chan all of those upbringings. I gave her no choice, and fed her only sweet nectar, making her a person who would act solely on her desires, and made her mind ugly and fat.
The results are clear as day. There's no way the expectations of a person like her will ever be overturned. I've spent years building her up.
So here it is.
What should I do if I were to try to replace Karen?
To create a humanoid robot like Karen who cannot control her desires, would it be necessary to kidnap a baby from somewhere and educate her from start to finish like Karen?
No, of course not.
As I said earlier, there is a fertile ground for monsters to be born in the world without me having to do anything about it.
Karen is my masterpiece, a product of all my tastes and preferences; she's like a custom-made piece.
There is no need to spend the same amount of money on a substitute, and it is not even possible. Unlike Karen, it would be a natural choice for anyone with a functioning brain.
You can cheat by using a starter kit or something like that.
Even when it comes to cooking, there are a lot of cheating products being sold that just require you to cut and mix the ingredients to make the dish.
This time, I decided to cheat a little in order to relieve my own frustration.
Because I want to use it now, and I don't mind throwing it away soon after.
"What are you reading, Suiren-chan?"
"Hyaa!, Yu... Yuri-san. Hey, don't scare me!"
With a bang, I pounced on the girl from behind as she was reading a book alone in the library, as usual. I sniffed a little and the scent of incense hit my nose.
Her long, untidy black hair is like a cushion, or cotton, and somehow very comfortable.
"Sorry, did I surprise you?"
"N-no... Well, um..."
She had told me earlier not to scare her, but when I asked her again she was flustered. She couldn't look me in the eye, her voice was rising and she couldn't reply properly.
Ahh... so cute ♡
Since I usually interact with Karen, who is not very tactful, this kind of modesty, or rather shyness, is refreshing.
Well, I think that eventually the novelty will wear off and it will start to feel annoying.
It's fine now because she's cute. My policy is to love her while she's still cute.
"So, what were you reading?"
That day after school, I came across a girl by chance. That girl was Suiren.
Since then, I've visited the library like this a few times and started interacting with her.
But only after school, you know? I can't leave Karen-chan's side during the day, and on some days, she drags me off somewhere after school too.
So we had a really limited time to meet, but... my eyes were right.
It's only been a short relationship, but that alone has given me confidence.
She is the monster egg worthy to be Karen-chan's substitute.
As evidence,
"Ah, well, you see! What I was reading just now was... well, it was the one that was made into an anime recently! It was the latest volume, and it was just insanely hot!"
"Hey, that sounds interesting."
I really don't understand what it means.
This is it!
This side of her makes me convinced that she is the one. The corners of my mouth unconsciously turn up in a smile, but she seems to be pleased by this and continues talking at a rapid-fire pace.
A completely incomprehensible story.
Yes, yes. She's a perfect vessel. With a little tinkering on my part, she'll grow into a toy that I'm completely satisfied with.
Because she's so, so bad at communicating. She's what people call a socially awkward person ♡
"Hehe, well, that's it! It's great!"
"Um, yes... yes. I see, that's amazing ♪"
In addition, she usually has a stutter that is unpleasant to others. Combined with her inability to make eye contact and difficulty conversing, it makes it extremely difficult to understand what she is saying.
And when you get a little closer, she turns into a bot that just shoots out information like a machine gun without any regard for your circumstances. What's more, the content of information is completely disorganized, jumping around here and there, and she can't even properly answer your questions.
"What were you reading?" I only asked that simple question.
Do you think that the fact that the work was recently made into an anime or that you yourself are reading the latest volume contains that information?
I'm sure she's never thought about it like that before.
Because she's been alone for a long time.
She avoided interacting with people, and before she knew it, she was lonely, and by the time she could no longer bear it, she no longer had the means to interact with others.
This was the result of her refusing to develop the skills that are expected to be honed in order to belong to society, such as being able to converse and communicate with others.
"Haha, Suiren-chan really does seem to enjoy talking, doesn't she?"
"Huh, huh? I, I see... I guess?"
"Oh, it's so cute ♡"
"C-cute... T-that's not true... hehehe."
"Hehehe," she said with a broad grin. She wasn't used to being praised, and her whole body exuded joy. If she had a dog's tail, it would surely be wagging wildly.
Truly obedient and adorable ♡
Despite this, if Suiren stays the way she is, she will just end up being socially awkward.
She's an embarrassing and pitiful girl no matter where you take her, but as things stand now, she's more like a nonexistent thing than a monster. At best she'll be ignored as if she doesn't exist.
So what's important is my actions. How I raise her.
It's very easy.
This will further develop her communication disorder.
It's going in a different direction than it is now though ♡
The current her is a typical socially awkward person who is afraid of interacting with others. She stutters when talking to others, can't stop talking when talking about things she likes, and is a useless girl who talks a lot but can't summarize the main points.
That's no good, it's not interesting. Besides, she's just a replacement for Karen. If she becomes a monster that expands on her current problems, it will still be something different, not a replacement.
That's what I thought.
So I decided on my future course of action by focusing on a certain feature of her. This was something I had thought of since the day I found her. I thought that if she was someone who read a book alone and seemed lonely, this technique would surely transform her into a monster.
My goal is to make her become an unreserved and selfish queen.
So what kind of socially awkward person should we raise her to be? That's easy, too. Because the original Karen we're aiming to be is also a kind of socially awkward person. All we have to do is aim for the same route.
Karen is a bright and confident girl. I'm sure she could have gotten along with anyone. But that's if I hadn't been there.
Her tyrannical behavior could easily be called socially awkward. She's the most uncooperative girl in the world. I just need to push Suiren into that realm too.
What I aim is to create a cheerful person who is socially awkward and disliked by those around her.
So how do I push it up to that point?
I think we just need to cultivate self-esteem and success experiences. I know I'm wrong about both, though.
"The stories Suiren-chan talked about are so interesting♪ I almost lose track of time♪"
"Huh?! Is that so? Really?!"
"Hehehe, really. It goes by so quickly."
If she doesn't have enough confidence as she has now and it's impossible to replace Karen, then she should just rebuild that confidence, even if it's just a facade.
"Suiren-chan, you're always alone, but I'm sure if you went out and talked to other kids like this you'd make lots of friends. You're so fun."
"Eh, th-that's not true! And now... as long as Yuri-san is here."
"Oh, it's this mouth that says such nice things! It's so cute, uriuri!"
"Hyaaa?!"
By continuing to accept her unconventional means of communication, which stem from her lack of interpersonal experience, she will naturally become more cheerful.
I'm the type of person who has a lot of friends in class, so I'm probably like a god to her when it comes to communication sector.
It would be a lie to say that she doesn't have confidence in herself when such a person praises her so wholeheartedly and with complete approval.
Having gained this confidence, she transforms from a socially awkward person who can't relate to anyone into a self-centered monster who actively interacts with others but only talks about things she likes.
In other words, she will be reborn as Karen-chan 2.0.
Eventually, she will take my words to heart and try to communicate with others. And I'm sure she will be successful.
Basically, the first move of a person who takes the initiative to interact with others never fails.
However, as her true nature gradually becomes apparent through their interactions, the people around her would naturally distance themselves from her. No one has time to be involved with a girl who only talks about such boring things.
In the end, the only one left is Suiren, who had a good misunderstanding.
The successful experience of being able to become friends with someone for the first time in her life, even if only for a short time, will have a strong meaning. Even if things end up becoming strained in the end, she may start to think that since she was successful at first, things will surely go well next time. This time, she were just unlucky.
Once that happens, it's all over. People who try to push the blame for the breakdown of relationships onto others are like that.
That's why we call it a monster ♡
With each successive experience, she is becoming more and more like Karen-chan as time goes by. I'm sure that within a month or two, she will have transformed into the girl I want her to be.
Once that happens, all that's left is to harvest.
I just want you to release this bursting passion of mine.
Furthermore, here, her characteristics come into play to another level.
It's the only means of communication she has had with the outside world, and how she interacts with others.
That is exactly it...
"Hehe, I'll lend this book to Yuri-san next time!"
The book she was holding so dearly was what is commonly known as a light novel.
She has absolutely no female friendships that she has cultivated in her life. All she has is a fantasy relationship that prioritizes appearance and sensuality over friendship, tailored for otaku.
So she timidly...
"Etto, ano, Yuri-san?"
"Yeah, what is it?"
"Umm, well... Um, like, can I hold your hand?"
She looks at me with a lack of confidence, but also with a sense of expectation.
There must have been a scene in one of the works she had consumed where friends held hands in a friendly manner, so even though she was a little skeptical, she still proposed it as a formal means of communication.
"Yeah, that's fine! Here you go."
"Ah, it's warm... And it's soft..."
I don't correct her mistakes. I make her believe that the knowledge she has is correct. When two girls are close, they hold hands, hug each other, and link arms. That's what I make her believe.
The first thing I did today was sneak up on her from behind. Because I hugged her from behind, she mistakenly thought we're such close friends.
But yeah, at this rate we'll never get to the point of sexual contact. At best we'll only kiss, because it's a relationship between girls in a light novel that high school students can buy. So it's no good if they're depicted naked in a relationship.
But what if we combined that with her growing confidence?
She thinks she has the same, or even better, ability to get along with others as the average person, but will the way she develops friendship based on this knowledge actually be healthy?
Hehehe ♡
I assure you, that will never happen ♡
Inflated self-confidence, the wrong way to build friendships with people of the same sex, and someone who completely accepts you.
And then there's the possessiveness ♡
It may not be like that now, but one day she'll start to wonder why we're such good friends and only see each other after school.
She'd probably rather me be with her than with someone like that stupid Karen... she would be sure I felt the same way too.
When that happens, she will just go with the flow and try something forbidden.
There is only one way that someone with no interpersonal experience can think of to become closer to others.
There's nothing but sex ♡
She will start to mistakenly think that if she doesn't have sex with me, she won't be able to become closer to me.
Only after going through all of this will the girl named Suiren finally be complete.
As a replacement for Karen, as my sexual toy.
So this is also a step towards that.
I suppressed the incomprehensible rapid-fire speech in front of me and smile the brightest I can today. I think of the day, not too far away, when my wish will come true.
Just thinking about it makes the corners of my mouth turn up without me even realizing it.
"I love you, Suiren-chan♪"
If you have a cute dog that wags its tail, don't neuter it and keep it as a butter dog.
I promise to keep feeding them until I get bored of it.
I don't know what will happened after that, you know?
Author Note:
Here's Suiren's profile:
Suiren is a girl who looks like an unfashionable otaku girl. She was born with difficulty communicating and has been isolated since elementary school. At first, she pretended to be aloof, but gradually her solitude crumbled into loneliness. However, by the time she realized this, it was too late, and she had become a full-fledged socially awkward person.
Yuri saw through this and decided to raise her into a monster with difficulty communicating. However, according to Yuri, it was a very easy task as the flower had already begun to bloom.
