Chapter 107: The Ferocious Black Dragon!
Nash Gold stared in shock. Leaving aside the fact that this group of special forces addressed Miyamoto Tokima as “Mr. Tokima,” the line about “attacking a fist with his face” was downright absurd.
He had clearly been beaten one-sidedly by Miyamoto Tokima, yet in their mouths it somehow became him using his face to attack a fist?
Nash’s father hurried into the room, swallowing hard at the sight of the dense cluster of gun barrels.
But for his son’s sake, he still steeled himself and spoke up.
“Mr. Tokima, Mr. Tokima! My son is ignorant and doesn’t know better. Please spare him.”
After that, Nash’s father walked up to Nash Gold and demanded angrily, “What on earth did you do?!”
Nash Gold was panicking now. Lowering his voice, he asked, “Dad… what’s going on?”
Nash’s father snapped back, “Now you remember to call me Dad? Do you have any idea how powerful the Miyamoto Family is?!”
Nash Gold shook his head.
He really didn’t know. All he knew was that his father had suddenly called him back, saying he needed to meet the heir of the Miyamoto Family.
Before this, Nash Gold had never even heard of the Miyamoto Family. He’d thought it was just the son of one of his father’s friends—someone insignificant. Only now did he realize the truth.
This wasn’t insignificant at all. This was someone completely out of his league.
Nash’s father froze for a moment, then barked, “Didn’t you read the message I sent you?!”
Nash Gold shook his head again. “No… I didn’t…”
Nash’s father was so angry his lungs felt like they were about to explode. His son spent every day eating, drinking, and fooling around. Aside from playing basketball, there was nothing redeeming about him.
Originally, he’d planned to explain everything clearly over the phone, but after just two sentences, Nash Gold had hung up.
He called again and again, only for Nash Gold to hang up every time. Left with no choice, he sent a message, telling him to read it.
After sending the message, Nash’s father even called several more times. When Nash Gold finally answered one of them, he immediately told him to read the text.
Nash Gold agreed on the phone—but who would’ve thought he never actually read it?
Now it was done. He had completely offended the Miyamoto Family.
What was supposed to be a happy occasion had turned into a disaster.
Nash’s father turned around, intending to plead for his son again.
But Miyamoto Tokima interrupted him, looking straight at Nash Gold as he spoke.
“Behaving now?”
Nash Gold nodded frantically.
Miyamoto Tokima pulled over a stool and sat down, speaking calmly.
“If you’d behaved earlier, wouldn’t this have been easier? You just had to take a beating first.”
Nash Gold felt like crying without tears. If he could turn back time, he would definitely listen to everything his father said.
If he had, he would be sitting on a stool right now, calmly talking with Miyamoto Tokima—instead of standing frozen under a forest of gun barrels, barely daring to move as Miyamoto Tokima spoke.
“I came today for one reason,” Miyamoto Tokima said. “I’ve formed a basketball team. We’re short on people. I’ve taken a liking to you. Are you in?”
“I’m in! If it’s a team founded by Mr. Tokima, I’ll definitely join!”
Nash Gold didn’t hesitate for even a second, nodding repeatedly.
Miyamoto Tokima nodded in satisfaction, patted Nash Gold on the shoulder, then turned and left with Satsuki Momoi.
A group of Miyamoto Family security personnel followed after them.
Only once everyone had left did Nash Gold finally let out a long breath.
Nash’s father glared at him and said irritably, “From now on, answer my calls properly!”
Nash Gold nodded obediently. “I understand.”
He had already resigned himself to it. Given the circumstances, he had no choice but to agree.
Nash Gold had prepared himself mentally for a team that was extremely weak, but when the appointed day arrived, his thoughts changed completely.
...
Inside the basketball arena built by the Miyamoto Family.
Nash Gold looked at the towering Jason Silver, who radiated an overwhelming sense of pressure, and couldn’t help but feel surprised.
‘This… doesn’t seem bad at all.’
He then turned his gaze to the other three players.
There were three of them in total. One was bald, another had a buzz cut and wore a white headband, and the last had short blond hair.
Their presence didn’t seem weak either.
Miyamoto Tokima had originally invited Shuzo Nijimura, but Shuzo declined, saying he couldn’t leave because he had to take care of his father. With no other choice, Miyamoto Tokima turned to members of the original Jabberwock crew.
The former small forward, Allen, ended up becoming Miyamoto Tokima’s substitute.
When he saw Nash Gold arrive, Miyamoto Tokima spoke up.
“Everyone’s here.”
Nash Gold asked slowly, “What do we do next?”
Miyamoto Tokima smiled faintly. “What do we do?”
He picked up a basketball nearby and addressed the five of them.
“One-on-one with me. Score a single basket against me, and I’ll give you ten thousand dollars.”
Hearing that, all four players except Nash Gold showed looks of eagerness.
Driven by the money, the four were ready to go all out in a one-on-one against Miyamoto Tokima.
Nash Gold, on the other hand, chose to observe first.
Even though he had joined Miyamoto Tokima’s team, when it came to basketball, Nash Gold only acknowledged people who could actually defeat him.
...
Thump… thump… thump…
“No… no way! How is this possible?!”
Nash Gold stared at the court, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Four people were already sprawled on the ground—including Jason Silver. All of them lay there, completely spent.
Nash Gold could hardly believe what he was seeing. In those one-on-one matchups just now, Miyamoto Tokima had effortlessly shut out Allen, Zack, and Nick.
Seeing the three of them get shut out only surprised Nash Gold slightly. Their strength wasn’t that impressive to begin with, and even so, Nash Gold himself couldn’t have done it as easily as Miyamoto Tokima did.
In truth, from this point on, Nash Gold had already acknowledged Miyamoto Tokima as the team’s captain.
What truly left him utterly shaken was Miyamoto Tokima’s one-on-one against Jason Silver.
That duel completely stunned him.
Just Jason Silver’s presence alone had already shocked Nash Gold. Then Jason Silver unleashed his Animal Instinct.
When Jason Silver’s Animal Instinct erupted, Nash Gold imagined that if he were the one on the court, he’d have to use the [Belial Eye] just to barely secure a win.
Jason Silver’s Animal Instinct was terrifying.
Nash Gold swore that this was the fiercest Animal Instinct he had ever seen.
But that thought was quickly shattered—because he also saw it.
He saw Miyamoto Tokima’s Animal Instinct…
A single, incomparably ferocious black dragon!
