Chapter 121: The Venomous Snakes

Four days after the Black Emperor Dragon Team’s training concluded, their second match arrived.

This time, their opponents were the most formidable streetball team in the nearby scene—

the Venomous Snakes.

Inside the gym, Satsuki Momoi briefed everyone on the information she had gathered.

“The Venomous Snakes’ captain is a white player named Dicky Anthony. He plays power forward and is said to possess a skill called [Venomous Fang].”

Shuzo Nijimura looked confused and asked,

“[Venomous Fang]? What kind of skill is that?”

Zack shot him a displeased glance and scolded him bluntly,

“Nijimura, don’t interrupt when Miss Momoi is speaking!”

Shuzo Nijimura came back to his senses, scratched his head, and apologized awkwardly.

“Sorry, sorry.”

Satsuki Momoi didn’t mind at all.

“It’s fine. Asking questions is normal.”

Miyamoto Tokima smiled faintly and said,

“Momoi, go on.”

Momoi nodded and continued,

“Their center is a white player named Kit Barry. He’s said to have extremely sharp rebounding instincts and is considered the guardian of the paint.

“The third member is a black player named Hausberg. He plays small forward and has very accurate inside shooting, especially after driving in.

“The fourth is a white player named Judith Gall. He specializes in three-pointers. His shooting form is said to be very strange, earning him the nickname ‘Cannon Shot.’

“The last one is their point guard, Titus Monroe, also white. So far, the only thing we’ve confirmed is that his passing is extremely precise. We haven’t found much else, but I’ve heard that his eyes are… a little different.”

Nash Gold showed a bit of interest when he heard that.

“Oh? His eyes are different?”

Momoi nodded.

“Yes. Supposedly, he has eyes that can observe the entire court. They’re called ‘Hawk Eyes.’”

Miyamoto Tokima paused slightly, a trace of surprise surfacing.

“Wasn’t that the ability of that teammate from Shutoku High School in the original story?”

That was right—Hawk Eyes originally belonged to Kazunari Takao.

With the ability to see the entire court, they were known as Tetsuya Kuroko’s natural counter.

Miyamoto Tokima hadn’t expected to encounter those eyes first in the United States.

Still, it was only mild surprise. Compared to Nash Gold’s Belial Eye, Hawk Eyes clearly weren’t enough to measure up.

Nash Gold, however, had no idea what Hawk Eyes were truly capable of.

All he wanted now was to test himself against Titus Monroe and see whose eyes were superior.

If Miyamoto Tokima knew what Nash Gold was thinking, he would definitely scoff inwardly—

‘Is there even a need to compare? The moment you open your eyes, he’d drop to his knees.’

After finishing her rundown of the Venomous Snakes, Satsuki Momoi continued,

“Their main scoring threats are Judith and Dicky. Both have solid accuracy from three-point range and inside the arc.

“They handle the perimeter offense, while Kit protects the paint. That’s why the Venomous Snakes are considered the top streetball team in this area.

“Their outside firepower is extremely strong, and Kit’s rebounding ability is first-rate.”

Jason Silver burst out laughing, raised his right hand, and slowly clenched it into a fist.

“Rebounds? He won’t grab a single one over my head.”

Allen looked completely relaxed, without the slightest hint of tension.

“Yeah. I don’t believe that Kit can take rebounds from Silver either.”

Satsuki Momoi smiled faintly.

“Everyone, do your best.”

...

The day of the match arrived, and the venue was the same as before.

Spectators once again flooded the scene to watch the Black Emperor Dragon Team’s second game.

“This is insane—only their second match, and they’re already facing the Venomous Snakes.”

“Yeah, the Venomous Snakes are recognized as the number one team around here. I wonder if the Black Emperor Dragon Team can win.”

“It should be easy, right? Didn’t they completely crush the Jackets last time?”

“Not necessarily. The Venomous Snakes aren’t weak either. This might turn into a hard-fought battle.”

“I can’t wait to see this game!!!”

The spectators exchanged excited chatter, every one of them eager to witness the upcoming clash.

Miyamoto Family security had already taken positions on both sides, guarding Miyamoto Tokima at all times.

Snipers watched the court from elevated vantage points, ready to eliminate any suspicious individual the moment one appeared.

“They’re here! The Venomous Snakes are here!”

Following the crowd’s shouts, a menacing-looking team strode toward the court.

Leading them was their captain, Dicky Anthony.

He wore a black athletic hoodie with the hood pulled over his head.

A lip stud was embedded on the right side of his lower lip, resembling a venomous snake’s fang.

At a glance, every member behind him shared the same style—the only difference was the position of their lip piercings.

Some were on the upper lip, others on the lower, like different species of venomous snakes.

“Captain, today’s going to be a brutal fight. I heard the Jackets got wiped out by the Black Emperor Dragon Team, 121 to 12.”

Titus Monroe spoke in a low, worried voice.

Dicky Anthony’s expression was just as grim. Even he felt pressure from the opposing team’s strength.

“Just give it everything we’ve got. After all, that’s the Miyamoto Family heir’s team.”

Kit Barry yawned and voiced a different opinion.

“That’s not necessarily true. Jacket’s Brown was just a reckless brute.

“I’m different. I’ll grab thirty rebounds right over the Black Emperor Dragon Team’s heads. You guys just shoot without holding back.”

Judith Gall tilted his head slightly, his tone carrying a hint of admonishment.

“Kit, you really need to fix that habit of underestimating others.”

Kit Barry laughed dismissively and mocked,

“Even established teams can’t out-rebound me. How could a newly formed team stand a chance?

“The Miyamoto Family may be powerful, but that doesn’t mean their team is anything special!”

Dicky Anthony frowned deeply and snapped,

“That’s enough! Who gave you the nerve to talk about the Miyamoto Family like that in front of so many people?”

Only then did Kit Barry realize something was wrong. He hurriedly shut his mouth.

He carefully scanned his surroundings, and only after confirming that no one had heard him did he finally let out a breath of relief.

Titus Monroe sighed.

“Kit, think before you speak next time.”

Kit Barry immediately bristled.

“What the hell does that have to do with you?”

Titus spread his hands, his tone calm.

“Just a friendly reminder.”

Suddenly, a sharp cry rang out from the crowd.

“They’re here! The Black Emperor Dragon Team!!!”
