Chapter 139: Kirisaki Daiichi
Shuzo Nijimura comforted Shogo Haizaki, then asked,
“So, Haizaki, what did you do after you were expelled from the basketball club?”
“I quit.”
“One thing at a time.”
Shogo Haizaki was utterly speechless. There was nothing he could do about Shuzo Nijimura—on the court or off it, he couldn’t beat him either way...
“Well, after I left the basketball club, I joined the basketball training center founded by the Miyamoto family. I trained there with people like Makoto Hanamiya.”
“They’re our current teammates. We’ve already trained together for a full year, all to prepare everything for Tokima-san.”
“So that when Tokima-san came, he’d see a well-drilled team, not one with terrible chemistry.”
Miyamoto Tokima was slightly taken aback. He hadn’t expected his father to have been training them for an entire year, and the realization filled him with a mix of surprise and genuine appreciation.
He patted Shogo Haizaki on the shoulder.
“You’ve worked hard.”
“It wasn’t hard at all, Tokima-san.”
Shuzo Nijimura couldn’t help but glance at Haizaki again.
“You really did work hard, Haizaki. By the way, are you still hung up on being expelled from Teikō?”
Shogo Haizaki let out a sigh.
“I stopped caring about that a long time ago. Sure, after I left, they were labeled the Generation of Miracles, but I’m not hung up on it. Not at all.”
The more he spoke, the angrier he became, his expression visibly darkening.
Shuzo Nijimura twitched at the corner of his mouth and muttered inwardly,
‘And you call that not hung up on it???’
“Generation of Miracles?” Satsuki Momoi asked. “What kind of title is that?”
Shogo Haizaki immediately explained,
“It’s a nickname the spectators gave those five. They say they’re once-in-a-decade geniuses.”
Satsuki Momoi suddenly understood.
“Oh, I see. So it’s like Tokima-san’s [Magic Cube]?”
Shogo Haizaki nodded.
“Exactly. Same idea. And at least for now, the audience still believes [Magic Cube] is stronger than the Generation of Miracles.”
Miyamoto Tokima froze.
“Wait—what? They still remember my nickname?”
Shogo Haizaki nodded seriously.
“Yes. In the second year, when you didn’t appear, people started speculating.”
“Coupled with your past performances and match results, you left a deep impression. They still remember you even now.”
Miyamoto Tokima rubbed his forehead, an overwhelming sense of despair washing over him.
At that moment, butler Hayashi laughed heartily and spoke up.
“Sir, this was all arranged by your father. He didn’t want you to be forgotten, so he’s been promoting you all this time.”
“And it worked. Now whenever someone mentions the Generation of Miracles, they immediately think of your title.”
“They even compare them—but every single time, sir, you come out on top.”
Miyamoto Tokima was stunned.
“Mr. Hayashi, what did you just say? Who’s been promoting me?”
“Mr. Miyamoto himself. Isn’t that touching?”
‘Touching my ass—there was absolutely no need to torment me like this!’
Miyamoto Tokima felt like crying without tears. He had thought that once he returned, the title [Magic Cube] would quietly disappear.
But after his father got involved…
Disappear? It was completely welded on now!
Miyamoto Tokima collapsed weakly into Satsuki Momoi’s arms, sinking into deep despair…
“Mr. Hayashi,” he suddenly said, “tell me—who exactly did my father have promote me?”
“What’s wrong, sir?”
“Tell me!”
“It was all handled by Manager Wang. After Mr. Miyamoto mentioned it, he was the most enthusiastic, so Mr. Miyamoto entrusted the task to him.”
“He did an excellent job. Shall we reward him, sir?”
‘Reward? Of course we’ll reward him. Manager Wang, is it? You’ve chosen your own path to death.’
After brooding for a moment, Miyamoto Tokima suddenly remembered something.
“Haizaki, what about Tetsuya? What happened to him after that?”
Shogo Haizaki thought for a while, then realized he’d somehow forgotten such a person even existed. He shook his head.
“Tokima-san… I think I forgot about him.”
“6.”
............
butler Hayashi’s car slowly came to a stop in front of Kirisaki Daiichi High School.
He stepped out of the driver’s seat and opened the doors for Miyamoto Tokima and the others.
As they got out, they immediately saw Makoto Hanamiya and the rest waiting at the school gate.
Shogo Haizaki waved when he spotted them.
“Yo, Hanamiya!”
Makoto Hanamiya recognized them at once and led the others over.
When he reached Miyamoto Tokima, Hanamiya bowed deeply.
“Tokima-san!”
Everyone from Kirisaki Daiichi followed suit, bowing in unison.
“Tokima-san!”
Miyamoto Tokima’s lips twitched.
‘Why does this feel… so villainous…’
He helped Makoto Hanamiya up.
“Alright, everyone, stand up.”
The group immediately straightened.
Miyamoto Tokima swept his gaze across them.
Aside from Makoto Hanamiya and Kentaro Seto, there were several familiar faces—members of Kirisaki Daiichi from the original story.
The original small forward, Kojiro Furuhashi, whose expression never seemed to change.
The power forward with bangs covering his eyes, chewing gum—Kazuya Hara.
The brown-haired shooting guard—Hiroshi Yamazaki.
These three had been Kirisaki Daiichi’s original starters.
As for the bench… not worth mentioning.
After looking them over, Miyamoto Tokima had a rough grasp of things.
There was no denying it—the current Kirisaki Daiichi lineup was absurdly luxurious.
Point guard Makoto Hanamiya, shooting guard Miyamoto Tokima, small forward Shogo Haizaki, power forward Shuzo Nijimura, center Kentaro Seto.
A true god-tier Miyamoto Tokima who towered above all his peers.
A Shuzo Nijimura who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Generation of Miracles, relying on sheer willpower to enter the Zone and match them in talent.
A “Sub–Generation of Miracles” Shogo Haizaki.
An Uncrowned King, Makoto Hanamiya.
And a Kentaro Seto who linked up with Hanamiya like a spider’s web.
This lineup could easily crush Rakuzan’s combination of three Uncrowned Kings, one Generation of Miracles member, and a high-spec version of Kuroko.
Miyamoto Tokima could already imagine that after the first year, the entire Generation of Miracles would have to band together just to spar with him.
He turned to Makoto Hanamiya.
“Give me a detailed rundown of the team.”
Makoto Hanamiya nodded.
“Got it, Tokima-san.”
“Our school’s training resources are all provided by President Miyamoto, so our facilities are top-tier.”
“And since we all train according to President Miyamoto’s plan, we don’t have a coach, and we don’t have a captain either.”
“The coach’s position is reserved for Miss Momoi, and the captaincy is reserved for you, Tokima-san.”
