Chapter 142: Seirin High School
Satsuki Momoi rested her pen against her lips, her brows knitting slightly as she spoke with mild dissatisfaction:
“Tokima, it’s a bit lacking.”
She wasn’t wrong to think so. After reviewing the data reports on Jason Silver and the others, then comparing them to the reports on Shogo Haizaki and his group, the difference was obvious.
No matter how she looked at it, they felt weak. The gap was simply too large.
Miyamoto Tokima took the report from Satsuki Momoi and began reading it carefully.
Shuzo Nijimura also walked over, craning his neck to sneak a look.
“Yeah… it really is a bit low,”
Shuzo Nijimura said after seeing the numbers.
Miyamoto Tokima frowned slightly, a new plan forming in his mind.
Although Shogo Haizaki and the others already had data that would be considered excellent among country’s high school players, Miyamoto Tokima was still not satisfied.
He didn’t want their future to end at the high school level.
At the very least, Shogo Haizaki shouldn’t stop here…
...
Once everyone had finished resting, Miyamoto Tokima gathered them together.
“Starting tomorrow, I’ll arrange for new trainers to work with you. Go back and rest well—training starts tomorrow.”
Shogo Haizaki and the others nodded in unison.
“Yes!”
Miyamoto Tokima nodded in satisfaction, then turned and asked:
“Senior Nijimura, Momoi and I are heading home. Want us to give you a ride?”
Shuzo Nijimura shook his head.
“No need. I’ll head back on my own. I haven’t seen my father in over a year—I kind of miss him.”
“Alright then, Senior Nijimura. Take care. We’ll get going.”
Seeing this, Miyamoto Tokima didn’t press further. After a brief reminder, he left the school with Satsuki Momoi and got into Mr. Hayashi’s car, heading home.
In the car, Satsuki Momoi leaned against Miyamoto Tokima’s shoulder and asked softly:
“Tokima, should we tell Aomine and the others that we’re back?”
Miyamoto Tokima shook his head, gently patting Satsuki Momoi’s hair.
“Not yet. Let’s give them a surprise later.”
Satsuki Momoi narrowed her eyes in contentment and replied sweetly:
“I’ll listen to you.”
They first flew to Satsuki Momoi’s home to visit her parents. Miyamoto Tokima then stayed overnight at her place as well.
During that time, Miyamoto Tokima immediately contacted a trainer from America, paying to bring him to Japan as a coach.
As soon as the trainer heard it was Miyamoto Tokima, he packed his bags at once and booked a flight to Japan overnight.
The next afternoon...
Miyamoto Tokima entered the gym with the trainer. (Not Victor—Victor was the Black Emperor Dragon Team’s professional trainer. This was a newly hired one.)
After introducing the trainer to everyone, Miyamoto Tokima said nothing more and left the training entirely to him.
Meanwhile, Miyamoto Tokima and Satsuki Momoi relaxed off to the side.
Time passed quickly, and before long, the qualifiers arrived.
Miyamoto Tokima, Satsuki Momoi, and Shuzo Nijimura did not follow the team to the matches. Instead, they had Makoto Hanamiya lead the team through the qualifiers.
First, the opponents were simply too weak—Makoto Hanamiya and the others could handle them easily. Second, Miyamoto Tokima, Satsuki Momoi, and Shuzo Nijimura had something more important to take care of.
That matter was Tetsuya Kuroko.
Miyamoto Tokima wanted to see whether Kuroko, just like in the original story, had gone to Seirin and formed a new Light and Shadow with Taiga Kagami.
If not… then things would get interesting.
The three of them arrived at Seirin’s match venue.
Still confused, Shuzo Nijimura asked:
“Tokima, why did we come here? This school doesn’t seem to have any of my juniors, does it?”
Miyamoto Tokima smiled faintly.
“Just here to confirm a guess of mine. If I’m right, Senior Nijimura, you’ll be surprised.”
Intrigued, Shuzo Nijimura followed Miyamoto Tokima and Satsuki Momoi into the gym.
The match was between Seirin High School and Shinkyō High School.
If Miyamoto Tokima remembered correctly, Shinkyō High was the school that recruited a foreign player named Papa in the original story.
To be honest, Miyamoto Tokima couldn’t remember every detail anymore. After being in this world for so long, many things had faded.
But the major plot points were still clear in his mind.
The three entered the gym.
There weren’t many people inside, and the audience was sparse.
Miyamoto Tokima carefully observed the players on the court. After confirming Seirin’s lineup, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
‘As expected, Tetsuya… you still came to Seirin. But wait—where’s Teppei Kiyoshi?’
Miyamoto Tokima felt puzzled. Why wasn’t Teppei Kiyoshi on the team?
In the original story, Teppei Kiyoshi had been injured by Makoto Hanamiya and spent a full year recovering.
But now, under the Miyamoto Family’s guidance, Makoto Hanamiya hadn’t committed any violent acts. That meant Teppei Kiyoshi shouldn’t have been injured at this time.
‘The will of the world… can it really force corrections like this? Just to make Kagami grow faster?’
Miyamoto Tokima pondered quietly.
His guess was that under the interference of the World Will, Teppei Kiyoshi had been injured in some other incident, all to place pressure on Taiga Kagami and accelerate his growth.
Beside him, Satsuki Momoi also spotted Tetsuya Kuroko. She pointed at him excitedly.
“Tokima, it’s Kuroko-kun.”
Shuzo Nijimura followed her finger and looked over. After seeing clearly, he exclaimed in surprise:
“It really is Kuroko-kun. So that’s why you brought me here, Tokima. Wait… hold on—him?!”
Miyamoto Tokima turned his head, confused.
“Senior Nijimura, do you know someone else on Seirin?”
A smile appeared on Shuzo Nijimura’s face as he pointed toward Taiga Kagami.
“I know that redhead.”
Miyamoto Tokima followed his finger, his expression turning puzzled.
“Senior Nijimura, when did you meet him?”
“You know him too?”
“Sort of.”
Shuzo Nijimura didn’t ask further and instead explained how he had once played a one-on-one match against Taiga Kagami.
...
After hearing the whole story, Miyamoto Tokima nodded.
“So, Senior Nijimura… you shaved his head right in front of his coach?”
Shuzo Nijimura laughed awkwardly.
“I just wanted to get home quickly, so I might’ve used a bit too much force.”
Miyamoto Tokima smiled helplessly and turned his attention back to the court.
At that moment, the court replayed a classic scene from the original story.
Papa lifted Tetsuya Kuroko up and delivered that iconic line:
“To lose to a team with kids like this? Are the ‘Generation of Miracles’ all just children?”
The Seirin players immediately burst into laughter. Though annoyed, they really couldn’t help it.
Shuzo Nijimura heard it as well and couldn’t hold back his laugh.
“Hahaha, Kuroko’s being seriously underestimated.”
