Chapter 191: Generation of Miracles – Center
Tatsuya Himuro recalled the day he broke ties with his younger brother, Taiga Kagami, and slowly closed his eyes.
In his heart, if he couldn’t defeat his little brother, then he wasn’t worthy of being the older one.
That was why he had sworn to beat Taiga Kagami fair and square. If he couldn’t, then he had no right to call himself his brother.
And now, he was fighting for that very goal.
“Hey, Himuro, hurry up and eat already.”
Atsushi Murasakibara’s voice cut through his thoughts.
Tatsuya Himuro looked up to find the Kirisaki Daiichi team smiling at him.
He gave a small smile in return. “Coming, Atsushi.”
..........
Time passed quickly, and the final match of the preliminaries arrived.
The two teams facing off in this last game were both loaded with talking points.
On one side was Tōō Academy, a powerhouse that had gathered top players from prestigious schools across the country and even gone out of its way to recruit the ace of the “Generation of Miracles.”
On the other side was Kirisaki Daiichi High—already home to Makoto Hanamiya, one of the original “Uncrowned Kings”—now reinforced by Miyamoto Tokima of the “Magic Cube,” former Teikō Middle School captain Shuzo Nijimura, and former Teikō player Shogo Haizaki.
The current Kirisaki Daiichi High had become the number-one enemy in the eyes of every other high school—no exceptions.
In the stands.
The Seirin players found their seats and sat down.
After settling in, they glanced around—and were immediately stunned.
It wasn’t just spectators in the arena. Other teams were here too.
Shūtoku High School, Kaijo High School, Seihō… and more.
Almost every team Seirin knew had shown up.
Shinji Koganei swallowed nervously and muttered,
“Wow… there are so many people.”
Junpei Hyuga wiped the sweat from his forehead, equally shocked.
“I thought the last game was packed, but this is even worse!”
Riko Aida’s expression turned serious as she said quietly,
“That’s only the people inside. There are still plenty outside who couldn’t squeeze in.”
Fukuda stared wide-eyed.
“If the final prelim already draws this many people, won’t the Summer Cup be even crazier?”
Riko Aida nodded.
“It can’t be helped. Both teams playing today carry huge influence.”
Taiga Kagami didn’t join the conversation. He scanned the court, his expression growing increasingly serious.
The crushing defeat from last time was still fresh in his mind. He wanted to see for himself—whether Kirisaki Daiichi could truly clash head-on with Daiki Aomine.
Suddenly, Shinji Koganei stiffened.
“That group over there… they’re… they’re huge!”
Everyone from Seirin turned to look where he was pointing.
A group of towering men, each nearly two meters tall, walked over and calmly took their seats.
Their uniforms made their identity unmistakable.
Yōsen!
On the other side of the stands.
Kazunari Takao looked around and gasped.
“Whoa, what is this crowd? If we’d come any later, we probably wouldn’t have gotten seats!”
Shintaro Midorima adjusted his glasses and nodded.
“It’s only natural, Takao. Today it’s Miyamoto versus Aomine. A large crowd is expected.”
Takao grinned, lacing his fingers behind his head and leaning back slightly.
“So, Midori—who do you think’s winning?”
Without hesitation, Shintaro Midorima replied,
“Kirisaki Daiichi.”
..........
The audience gradually filled the seats. Those who couldn’t find space had no choice but to stand.
There simply weren’t enough seats for a crowd this size.
“They’re here! Tōō!”
Someone in the crowd suddenly shouted.
All eyes immediately turned toward the court.
At the players’ entrance, the Tōō team stepped out one by one behind their coach.
Dressed in black uniforms, their expressions were grim and focused.
They knew this would be a brutal match.
In the stands.
Taiga Kagami locked his gaze onto Daiki Aomine, irritation flashing in his eyes.
‘Damn it. When you played us, you couldn’t even be bothered to show up. But against Kirisaki Daiichi, you’re here this early.’
Deep down, he knew the reason. He was just annoyed.
After entering the gym, Tōō ignored the cheers from the crowd. Following a brief word from their coach, they began warming up.
Daiki Aomine had already warmed up earlier, but to keep himself in peak condition, he joined in again.
As he dribbled and shot, he thought to himself,
‘Miyamoto… our game has finally come.’
Step…
Step…
Step…
The sound of approaching footsteps echoed through the arena.
Attention shifted instantly.
Everyone turned toward Kirisaki Daiichi’s entrance.
There they were.
Every member dressed in uniform, walking in formation behind Miyamoto Tokima, step by step toward the court.
At the same time, a powerful sense of pressure radiated from them—strong enough to make anyone instinctively recognize their strength.
In the stands.
Seirin’s expressions had already turned serious.
They had noticed two new faces in Kirisaki Daiichi’s lineup.
And these two newcomers…
were extremely tall.
Shinji Koganei was the first to speak up.
“Who are those two giants? They’re both over two meters tall! And one of them’s a foreigner!”
Tetsuya Kuroko got a clear look at one of them—and his face changed instantly.
Junpei Hyuga noticed it right away.
A bad feeling rose in his chest.
Because no matter what happened, Tetsuya Kuroko’s expression almost never changed.
At most, it shifted slightly.
But this time—
he looked genuinely shaken.
What did that mean?
It meant even Kuroko found this unbelievable.
“Kuroko, what’s wrong?”
Taiga Kagami noticed too, but unlike Hyuga, he didn’t overthink it. He just asked directly.
Tetsuya Kuroko tried to steady himself, but his emotions were in turmoil.
After a brief silence, he slowly raised his hand and pointed at Atsushi Murasakibara on the court.
“That person… was my former teammate.”
“He’s the center of the Generation of Miracles.”
The air seemed to go still.
Shinji Koganei’s lips trembled as his voice shook.
“Th-That guy… is the Generation of Miracles’ center?!?!”
