Chapter 68: Ten Sets to Start With!
“Tokima, see you tomorrow.”
Satsuki Momoi waved as she said goodbye to Miyamoto Tokima.
Tokima nodded and waved back.
“Yeah, see you tomorrow, babe.”
Only after making sure that Satsuki Momoi had safely arrived home did Miyamoto Tokima continue on his way.
When he got back, he realized his father wasn’t home.
‘Where’s Dad? Busy again?’
After looking around and confirming that his father really wasn’t there, Tokima didn’t think much of it. He went straight to the bathroom to shower, then collapsed onto his bed and fell asleep.
...
The next day.
“Tokima, there’s a friend downstairs looking for you.”
Tokima’s father woke him from his sleep.
Tokima opened his eyes groggily.
“Huh? What?”
His father sighed, pulled him up, and forcibly woke him.
“There’s a young girl downstairs waiting for you. She’s been standing there for quite a while.”
Tokima froze for two seconds, then grabbed his phone and checked the time.
The moment he saw it, he was instantly wide awake.
“Crap, I overslept!”
He shot out of bed, hastily pulled on his clothes, and ran to the balcony to look down.
At a glance, he spotted Satsuki Momoi waiting downstairs. Tokima’s whole body stiffened.
“Oh no—Momoi must’ve been waiting forever!”
He rushed out of his room, ready to sprint downstairs.
“Tokima! Breakfast!”
“Dad, you eat! I’m not eating right now!”
“Get back here!”
His father grabbed him and yanked him back.
Tokima struggled free, confused.
“Dad, what are you doing? She’s going to get impatient!”
His father pointed at Tokima’s messy hair and wrinkled clothes, scolding him:
“You’re going out on a date dressed like that? Get back in there and wash up! Change your clothes! How do you expect to go out like this?”
Tokima froze for a moment, then scratched his head awkwardly.
“Dad… you knew?”
His father snorted.
“I’ve been there myself. You think I don’t understand this? Hurry up!”
He even kicked Tokima lightly to urge him on.
With no choice, Tokima quickly washed up, changed his clothes, and came back out.
“Dad, I’m heading out.”
His father stopped him again and handed him a card.
“Take this. Be generous on your date. Try to—”
Tokima snatched the card and bolted downstairs.
“Got it, Dad! Don’t worry about it!”
His father watched his son run off and smiled indulgently.
“This kid… just like me when I was young. No, wait—of course he is. He’s my son, after all.”
——————————
Tokima rushed downstairs and apologized to Satsuki Momoi, who was waiting.
“Sorry, Momoi. I overslept.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Momoi turned around with a bright smile.
“It’s fine, Tokima. I just got here too.”
Tokima smiled sheepishly and gently patted her head.
“Alright, let’s go. Where do you want to go?”
Momoi didn’t resist at all, clearly enjoying the affectionate gesture.
“Hmm… how about we go shopping?”
Tokima nodded.
“Up to you.”
Momoi’s smile grew even sweeter.
“Let’s go!”
She grabbed Tokima’s hand and led him toward the street.
Once they reached the shopping area, many stalls and stores were already open.
Momoi stopped happily in front of a clothing store, her eyes fixed on a particular dress.
Tokima noticed immediately. Without asking anything, he simply took her hand and led her inside.
Sometimes, actions spoke louder than words.
Momoi said nothing and let him guide her.
As soon as they entered, a sales clerk hurried over.
“Hello, how may I help you?”
Tokima pointed at the dress on display.
“That one. How much is it?”
The clerk’s expression shifted slightly. She glanced at the dress, then at Tokima, stunned.
‘What kind of rich kid is this…?’
Her attitude instantly turned enthusiastic.
“Sir, you have excellent taste. This dress is our signature piece, imported from a European fashion house—”
Tokima cut her off.
“Just tell me the price.”
The clerk’s eyes lit up. Someone who skipped straight to the price was usually a big spender.
She said eagerly:
“Sir, this dress is currently priced at two million two hundred thousand yen.”
Tokima paused slightly. Two point two million yen—nearly fifteen thousand dollars—was an outrageous price for most people.
Including Momoi.
Momoi was startled by the number and quickly tugged on Tokima’s hand.
“Tokima, it’s too expensive. Let’s not buy it.”
As she spoke, she tried to pull him out of the store.
But Tokima didn’t move at all. To him, two point two million yen was nothing.
He turned to the clerk.
“Can she try it on first?”
The clerk hesitated, then carefully looked Tokima over again. Seeing that he was dressed head-to-toe in luxury brands, she clenched her teeth and took a gamble.
“Of course, sir.”
Tokima nodded and turned to Momoi.
“Momoi, go try it on.”
Momoi hesitated, looking at him worriedly.
“Tokima… let’s not. It’s really too expensive.”
Tokima smiled gently and patted her head.
“It’s fine. Just try it.”
Momoi still didn’t want him spending so much money.
“But—”
Tokima cut her off.
“Listen. We’re out shopping to have fun. Besides, my dad has plenty of money.”
“If you don’t try it on, I’ll get mad.”
Left with no choice, Momoi nodded. She took the dress from the clerk and went into the fitting room.
Tokima sat down on the sofa to wait. While waiting, he looked over a few suits, wondering whether he should buy some for Daiki Aomine and the others.
“Can this kind of suit be custom-made?”
He pointed at one of the suits and asked.
The clerk quickly came over.
“Yes, sir. How many would you like to order? And what sizes?”
Hearing that they could be custom-made, Tokima didn’t hesitate at all. He spoke decisively:
“Let’s start with ten sets.”
