Chapter 29: She Lazed Her Way Through An Entire Episode
Chapter 29: She Lazed Her Way Through An Entire Episode
When Episode 5’s footage finally cut back to the protagonist, Chen Kong, the production team of Stellaris: Embers went all-out to maximize the audience’s immersion.
To do so, they deliberately switched the camera to Chen Kong’s first-person perspective, letting viewers experience the story as if through his very eyes.
Through the voices of nearby medical staff, the audience quickly learned what had happened over the past three days—that eleven Children of the Stars had already obtained their own compatible Star Origins.
Among them, of course, was none other than Tendou, the strongest of them all.
Upon hearing this, Chen Kong’s curiosity could no longer be contained. Near noon, accompanied by a medical officer, he headed straight for Ember Organization’s training base.
He wanted to see with his own eyes—what kind of miraculous chemistry would occur when a Star Core merged with their Star Origin.
Naturally, the same burning curiosity filled the viewers of Stellaris: Embers.
And soon enough, as Chen Kong entered the training room, he encountered the first Double Star of the episode:
Jing Liuli, ranked No.3 among the trainees, wielder of the Star Core – Eternal Night Butterfly and Star Origin – Daydream.
The moment the screen showed Liuli lying down and sleeping while chatting normally with everyone else, the audience collectively lost it.
“Bro— I’ve seen people tell lies with their eyes open, but I’ve never seen someone tell the truth with their eyes closed!”
“Coach, teach me this skill!”
“Coach: Teach? How, when even I don’t know how that works?!”
Just as the audience was dying to know what kind of Star Origin could allow Liuli—the ultimate lazybones—to pull this off, Chen Xing entered the scene and answered everyone’s question in one sentence.
“Oh, I see—Star Origin: Daydream! Our queen of slacking actually struck gold!”
“Girl, wake up, you’ve worked hard enough. Come eat something!”
“Other people train through effort—Liuli trains by sleeping! How is that even fair?!”
Perhaps feeling the envious glares of the viewers beyond the screen, Chen Xing, in full “queen mode,” immediately demanded Liuli share her ‘Dream Candies’—clearly unwilling to let her live so comfortably.
After all, everyone else was struggling to survive—so why did this girl get to live like she was on vacation?
“Come on, you’re not escaping this grind, Liuli. Get rolling!”
But then—something completely unexpected happened.
Normally, just hearing Chen Xing’s name was enough to make Liuli’s body go into panic mode.
Yet this time, she actually flipped the script.
Not only did she refuse Chen Xing’s demand, she even declared that, yes, she was freeloading—and no, she wasn’t sharing.
Unfortunately, like Tendou’s coolness, Liuli’s defiance didn’t last more than three seconds.
In the very next shot, Chen Xing casually lifted her up like a kitten and gave her a firm shake.
Within seconds, a shower of colorful candies spilled out from Liuli’s oversized pajama pockets.
The audience burst out laughing.
“Liuli, Queen of Sloth, defeated by Chen Xing, the Goddess of Grind—shr fought bravely, yet lost tragically.”
“Now I get why Liuli’s so scared of Chen Xing—grind-queens are the natural enemy of lazy fish!”
“Stop shaking her! Stop! She’s gonna puke rainbows at this rate!”
Watching Liuli once again suffer defeat at Chen Xing’s hands, the viewers didn’t pity her one bit—in fact, they cheered Chen Xing on.
After all, Liuli’s life had been way too comfortable.
If no one gave her a bit of pressure, she really would coast through another entire episode doing absolutely nothing.
Is that fair?
Of course not.
But then again… even a salted fish can flip over when it gets desperate.
Even a professional slacker like Jing Liuli could only endure so much.
“Just one,” Chen Xing said matter-of-factly. “I’ll repay you later with the organization’s dessert rations.”
“Liar!” Liuli shot back immediately, sitting up and glaring. “You lost all your dessert rights to Tendou in that bet! What are you even going to pay me with!?”
“……”
Chen Xing froze, momentarily speechless, a rare look of embarrassment crossing her face.
The audience, naturally, lost it.
“HAHAHA! So even the great Chen Xing has her off days?!”
“Our Liuli actually landed a counterattack—‘Salted Fish Surprise Thrust’ success!”
“Bringing me what you don’t even have to give? Oh, such noble authority, Lady Xing!”
While Chen Xing stood there flustered, unable to retort, Chen Kong quickly stepped in to smooth things over—offering his own week’s worth of desserts to pay Liuli back for the owed “Dream Candy.”
A classic case of “sister’s debt, brother’s repayment.”
But just as the audience began wondering what Chen Xing wanted those candies for—the entire training base shook violently.
When the tremor finally subsided, Chen Kong, still shaken, asked nervously,
“...Sis, what was that just now? Don’t tell me someone’s attacking the base?”
Chen Xing didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, Liuli—utterly unconcerned—casually replied,
“Relax~ it’s nothing. Probably just Tendou experimenting with his Star Origin again. Happens all the time.”
“...Huh?”
Chen Kong blinked in disbelief—and he wasn’t alone. The audience outside the screen shared the exact same reaction.
After all, judging by the sheer scale of that quake, it was hard to believe it had been caused by a single person.
“Was the Star Origin that Tendou’s got that strong?”
Before Liuli could respond, Chen Xing stepped forward, her tone calm but firm.
“Kong,” she said quietly, “it’s not the Star Origin that’s strong. It’s Tendou.”
“Because honestly—if it weren’t him, I can’t imagine anyone who could push that Star Origin to this level of development.”
“Come on. If you want to see, then I’ll take you. He doesn’t mind others watching anyway.”
“Three days ago, Tendou said something that stuck with me. He said—‘Only the weak waste their time worrying about being targeted. They tiptoe through life afraid of shadows. The strong, however—move through heaven and earth with absolute confidence. They fear nothing.’”
“He said… a true powerhouse should live as though they alone reign supreme between heaven and earth.”
“Yeah… that really does sound like something Tendou would say.” Chen Kong admitted with a wry smile.
As Chen Xing led her brother toward Tendou’s private training chamber, the episode came to an end.
Episode 5 might not have been packed with explosive plot twists, but from Yun Meng’s “bonus stockings” scene at the start, to Tendou’s “One Piece Admiral sitting pose” in the middle, and finally the eternal war between the Queen of Grind and the Queen of Sloth at the end—it delivered a satisfying blend of charm, comedy, and comfort.
After all, even viewers need a breather between battles and heartbreak.
A little downtime makes the story richer, not duller.
And in this regard, Stellaris: Embers knew exactly how to balance tension and relaxation.
Still, as the credits rolled, the audience was left with one crucial takeaway—
Tendou, already acknowledged as the undisputed ceiling of power, had somehow been buffed even further.
“Damn! Three days away and the devs already gave Tendou another epic upgrade?!”
Driven by curiosity and hype, everyone immediately clicked on Episode 6—eager to witness just how terrifying Tendou had become.
But among the flood of comments praising Tendou’s supremacy, one lone comment stood out:
“Uh… guys? Did anyone else notice that Liuli just lazed her way through another entire episode?”
“???”
