Chapter 103

“Is that… Yuuka?”

I—Aqua—called out to the girl standing at the center, where the light that had enveloped the abyss was now settling.

Her face still resembled Yuuka’s. But the atmosphere around her was completely different. Yuuka had always possessed a grounded kind of beauty—real, tangible. Yet the girl before me now had a beauty that felt both real and otherworldly.

And there were other changes. Her height, which had been in the low 160s, now looked to be in the mid-170s. Her shoulder-length hair had grown down to her waist, a pure, glossy shade of midnight black fluttering in the wind.

Her equally dark eyes were so clear they reminded me of a sky full of stars. In contrast to her night-colored hair and eyes, her skin was a delicate white, like freshly fallen snow.

Even her outfit had changed. Moments ago, she’d been wearing simple armor meant for ease of movement. But now she stood in a dress with a divine elegance, primarily white, radiating an air of sacredness.

Most striking of all was the magic now contained within her. Even before, Yuuka had possessed considerable magical power—enough to rival a typical demon, standing out even among higher-class arc demons. But now, her magic was on another level, enough to inspire awe, maybe even fear.

Not only would lower-class magical beasts be unable to approach her, even higher-tier ones would likely find it difficult.

“Yuuka… is that really you?”

Still in disbelief, I asked again. The girl smiled—so dazzling even someone of the same gender might find themselves captivated—and answered:

“Behold, your girl has arrived!”

…Yep. That’s Yuuka. No doubt about it. Why the hell is she striking that ridiculous pose with a smug face like she’s in a magical girl anime? This isn’t the time for a “Transform!” moment. You’re already transformed, you dork.

My opinion of Yuuka? A disappointingly gorgeous girl. Yuuka probably wouldn’t like that description, but honestly, it’s that "disappointing" part that keeps her grounded.

Without it, her beauty would be so ethereal she might feel untouchable, like she didn’t belong to this world. …And annoyingly enough, that thieving cat Cecilia is also beautiful enough to impress even other girls. Seems like Yuuka finally caught up to her.

“Now that I look, Albert’s changed too.”

I shifted my gaze to Albert. He’d already been one of the most strikingly handsome among all demons, so the changes weren’t as dramatic—but still noticeable.

His height had gone from the low 170s to somewhere in the mid-180s. His refined, Cecilia-like beauty had become even more polished, and just by standing there, he elevated the entire atmosphere. Unlike Yuuka’s dress, his outfit was primarily black—more like a buttoned-up military uniform, sharp and formal.

Albert’s magical power, like Yuuka’s, had become absurd. He’d always had an impressive amount, even as a demon, but now it felt overwhelming.

“So you’ve safely become a demon,” he said. “And even more beautiful than before.”

“You’ve gotten even more handsome too, Lord Albert. I’ve fallen for you all over again.”

“I’ve fallen for you all over again too, Yuuka.”

Ugh. The air is so thick with sweetness it’s suffocating. Excuse me, but we’re still in enemy territory here? Sure, we already defeated the enemy, but come on. Get a room, you lovestruck idiots.

“It appears all has gone well. A new Deep Demon has been born,” Iris commented.

“That’s a Deep Demon?” I asked.

“Indeed. Their magical power and other abilities have surpassed the level of ordinary demons.”

Iris’s eyes shimmered with rainbow light. Likely some kind of magic sight—she could probably see things I couldn’t.

Now that I think about it… with everything going on, I’d almost forgotten. We came here to rescue Albert’s best friend, didn’t we? Are we really okay just standing around like this?
