Chapter 110

"Ah, Al, you traitor—! Flaunting your gorgeous wife like that, all lovey-dovey!"

"What’s this, Scarlet? So you do have an interest in women?"

"Of course I do—! Just because I’m awkward around them doesn’t mean I dislike ’em!"

"Oh ho~? Hard to believe that’s coming from the guy who was just crouching in despair with his head in his hands~"

"Sh-shut up, idiot! Forget that ever happened!"

"I’ll never forget. No matter what happens from now on."

"Damn you—!"

Lord Albert and Lord Scarlet were making a lively ruckus. It’s heartwarming to see them get along so well.

"Kyu-kyu!"

"Kyu, kyu-kyu!"

As I watched my familiar, Luca, and Lord Minato’s familiar, Momo, playing together fondly, Aqua kept reaching out toward them only to pull her hand back. Seems she wants to touch them. Luca and Momo stared at her curiously—I’d already given permission, but...

"I-I-I wasn’t saying I wanted to touch them or anything, you know?!"

Now she’s spouting some inexplicable tsundere lines while acting suspiciously twitchy. Her eyes are bloodshot, and her breathing’s ragged. Officer, this one right here.

"Al, keep your promise."

"I know. That’s why I’m helping Scarlet, isn’t it?"

A promise? What kind, I wonder?

"Lord Albert, what’s this promise about?"

"Ah. We swore that if one of us got a girlfriend or wife, the other would help find a partner too."

"R-r-r-right, that’s it!"

Scarlet’s voice cracked as he answered, his words a mix of "sou nan desu" and "sou nan da." Given that he’s a refreshingly handsome young man, he’d have no shortage of options. He tried to hide behind Lord Albert to escape my gaze—though Albert deftly dodged.

"I see. So, what kind of woman is your type?"

"Uh, w-well, I... I like the o-oneesan type..."

Hmm, the oneesan type, huh? But there are variations—cool? Career-driven? Healing?

"Any other preferences?"

"...O-other? Uh, maybe... cool at first, but super affectionate once they open up...?"

He mumbled uncertainly. Hmm, a kuudere type? That might be a bit high-difficulty for Scarlet.

While I pondered, a LINE notification popped up on my phone. It was Miyu: "Are you free this weekend? Could you and Albert come over? I’d like your input on my doujinshi’s content." So she is really making that thing.

When I showed Albert the message—

"Mm, sure, I don’t mind."

With his approval, I sent back "Sure!" It was instantly read. A chibi dog sticker bowed with a "Thank you!" Oh—right. An idea struck me, so I turned to Scarlet.

"By the way, Lord Scarlet, how about a human girlfriend?"

"Eh?! I-I’d be okay with that...!"

"Yuuuka? What’s this about?"

"I thought maybe Miyu could introduce someone nice. Even if it doesn’t lead to romance, it might help him get more comfortable around women."

"From Yanagi? ...Is that safe?"

"Safe how?"

"We’re demons. We don’t belong in the human world. What if we scare them?"

"We won’t know unless we try, but I think it’ll be fine."

"Why’s that?"

"Because Miyu’s friends are otaku too."

Whether demon, reaper, or any other race, we otaku care only about pouring love into our passions.

After some reluctance, Albert agreed, though I assured him we could stop if things got dicey. (I chose to ignore his muttering about "erasing the friend’s memories if necessary.")

I messaged Miyu: "There’s something I’d like to discuss about a friend of Albert’s—mind if I ask?" Read. "What kind of discussion?" she replied. "Girl trouble," I sent. "I’m not sure how much help I can be," came the response. I gave a brief explanation about Scarlet. Read. "Understood. To get a feel for what he’s like, could you arrange for him to come this weekend?"

"So, that’s the situation. Lord Scarlet, what do you think?"

"Uh, y-yes, p-please..."

And so, it was decided—this weekend, Scarlet would accompany us to Miyu’s place.

None of us knew it yet—the minor chaos this would soon unleash.
