Chapter 28

"How long are you going to keep spacing out?"

"Gah—!? W-wha—?"

Albert-sama lightly kicks Kuzutani, sending him stumbling. Finally, Kuzuya notices us—his eyes brimming with unmistakable terror.

"W-what… Why me…? Why do I have to…? No… This… This is a dream… It’s gotta be… There’s no way… This isn’t real… I…"

He mutters incoherently. Reality denial, huh?

"Should I kick you again? That’ll help you figure out if it’s real or not."

"Eek! N-no, stop… P-please… stop!"

Kuzutani’s face twists in fear as he pleads.

"Then let’s resume the punishment."

"N-no way… Punishment…? I didn’t… do anything wrong…! R-right! It’s him! He’s the one to blame! I didn’t do anything! L-let’s catch him together! I’ll help!"

"Kuzutani, you bastard—!!"

Kuzutani points at Kiyoharu. This piece of trash is still trying to shift blame. Wait—hold on. Does he not know what’s happened to the company yet? Perfect. This situation just got useful.

Hiding a smirk, I pull out a recorder. I’d prepared this for emergencies.

["You’re utterly useless! Go back to kindergarten, you incompetent fool!"]

"H-huh? W-wait, that’s—"

["You’re in the way, you waste of space! Why don’t you jump off the roof already!?"]

"N-no… I… I didn’t—"

["Do you even deserve to be alive? Get on your knees and beg! Your existence is a nuisance!"]

"Hear that? We haven’t leaked any of this to social media yet. Should I turn up the volume?"

"N-no… Th-this can’t… Why…?"

Kuzutani scrambles for excuses, but it’s pointless. Everything’s recorded—his power harassment, his sexual harassment of female employees, even video evidence. His face is already ghostly pale, like he’s about to drop dead. And we’re just getting started.

"Ah, Kuzutani-san. Changing the subject—you’re married with kids, right? Let’s see… Your wife’s name is Kimie-san. You have a high school freshman, Yuuto-kun, and a middle school third-year, Mana-chan. A family of four, correct?"

Of course, I’d looked into his family. The fact they’re practically separated, on the verge of divorce. How his kids despise him. Oh, and his affair, too.

Turns out, this scum was cheating with a middle school girl—Mana-chan’s classmate, no less. They met through "papa dating." Not here to judge tastes, but damn, that’s unforgivable. Mana-chan was so traumatized she became a shut-in.

His family’s exact words? "Do whatever you want to him—boil him, burn him, we don’t care." We got it in writing. Not that he deserves excuses, but we’ll take full advantage.

"W-what does… that have to do with… anything?! S-stop! Leave my family out of this!"

How noble—defending his family now. Would’ve been touching if he hadn’t preyed on a teenage girl.

"Now, now, don’t be like that. They’re your family, aren’t they? Then you should take responsibility—for the good and the bad."

I tilt my head theatrically, resting a hand on my cheek. Surprisingly fun, this acting thing. Deliciously fun. Albert-sama chuckles under his breath ("Kukuku…"). Glad he’s enjoying himself.

"S-stop! No—please… I’m begging you… I’ll do anything…"

Kuzutani drops to his knees, forehead to the ground. The tables have turned. Seems he thinks we’ll hurt his family. Not our style—but if he believes it, all the better.

"Hmm? Did you just say ‘anything’?"

"Y-yes! Anything! So… please spare me…!"

"Then prove it. That you’ll obey us absolutely."

"I will! I’ll obey you completely!"

"Words aren’t enough. Show me with actions."

"U-understood! What should I do!?"

"Let’s see…"

"First, how about we give you a taste of agony—just shy of death? Don’t worry, you won’t actually die. …Not yet, anyway. Fufu…"

Before I realize it, something shifts.

The ‘monster’ Yuka warned me about… begins to stir.
