Chapter 29
"...Kill...me... Kill...me... Kill me..."
Hmm. Seems I overdid it. Apparently, Infinite Hell (Endless Bungee Jump Without a Rope) was overkill for breaking someone’s spirit.
The loop went like this: Use wind magic to slam them from midair into the ground → healing magic to fix them → spacetime magic to toss them back up → repeat. Indefinitely.
It was my idea, but Lil-chan and Mill-senpai helped. By the way, when I proposed this, Lord Albert praised me:
"Not bad, Yuka. You’ve got a real talent for crushing souls."
...Thanks. I hate it.
"Oh my, did we go too far?"
"We went too far."
Mill-senpai, in dragon form, tilted her head. Lil-chan copied her. Adorable. Approved. Kuzutani? Never heard of him. Don’t know any bald losers like that.
One thing struck me. Even if Kuzutani’s scum, I’d braced myself for guilt or disgust over torturing him to death. Turns out, I’m way colder than I thought.
I feel nothing. In fact, watching him suffer is downright enjoyable. I’m disturbingly calm for someone about to commit murder.
Is this my true nature? The Archdemon’s influence? Both? No clue. Guess you never really know yourself.
Then—a call. Who? I check the number and hesitate.
(Kimie-san...?)
It’s Kuzutani’s wife, Kimie. Timing suggests it’s about the company’s online scandal. Maybe the hate spilled over to his family.
The company’s private data—including family details—got leaked via social media. I regret dragging them into my revenge.
"...Yes. This is Aiba."
"This is Kuzutani. I’d like to discuss my husband. Do you have a moment?"
"Kuzuta—ni, Daisuke’s right here. Want me to pass the phone?"
"...Please."
"Kuzutani, it’s for you. Your wife, Kimie-san."
I put it on speaker so he can hear.
"...Ki-Kimie...e? Kimie!? Hello!? Kimie!?"
Wow, he’s perked right up from being a broken husk. Now, let’s see. I know Kimie-san despises him. But if this somehow fixes him, I’m hanging up immediately.
"Kimie! Kimie, are you oka—
"Let’s divorce."
...Huh?"
"I’m divorcing you. No alimony. But I’m taking full custody. Remove your belongings within a week. After that, I’ll dispose of them myself."
"Also, I won’t arrange meetings with the children. But if they ask, I’ll allow it."
Kimie-san's voice rings out—mechanical, icy, as if all emotion had been stripped away. It sends an involuntary chill down my spine.
"Kimie...? W-wait, no! That’s not—that’s not it!"
"No, it’s exactly it. Aiba-san told me everything. And I’ve seen the videos and audio leaked online. ...I never knew you were this much of a monster. We’re divorcing immediately."
"N-no, that’s—that’s all lies! A-and the stuff online, it’s—it’s just training! Yeah, I just got too into mentoring, that’s all—"
Even now, Kuzutani keeps digging his grave with excuses. Pathetic. The line falls silent for a beat—then:
"Enough! I know everything! What you did at work, the affairs—everything! 'Mentoring'? Don’t make me laugh! It’s sexual harassment, power harassment, violence, and abuse! How dare you joke about this?! The affairs alone betrayed and hurt the children! Don’t you dare ruin their futures any further!!"
Her scream cracks through the speaker. She’s reached her limit.
"I—I messed up, okay? So—"
"Goodbye. Never show your face again."
"Wait! WAIT! Kimie, please—don’t do this!!"
The call cuts off. Kuzutani clings to the dead line until I kick him away.
"My, my, how tragic~! Did you hear that, Lord Albert? Kuzutani’s getting divorced~!"
"Karma’s a bitch. How’s it feel?"
I adopt a mockingly aristocratic tone for Albert. Even I cringe at how obnoxious it sounds—but it’s fun, so who cares? Albert delivers the final blow. Merciless, but that’s why we love him.
"A...ah... AAAAAH...!"
"Oh. He broke."
"Yeah, he broke."
"GYAAAAAH! A-AH—AHHH—AAAAAAAGH!!"
Seems his mind’s snapped. Maybe I overdid it—but still, no guilt. Guess I’m broken somewhere too.
