Chapter 38

"A TS  CUTIE HAS ARRIVED!!"

"Huh…?"

What awaited us at Yui’s place was her beaming with a radiant smile. In stark contrast, Lord Albert looked genuinely bewildered—a rare sight. Pretty high rarity level there.

To explain how we got here, we need to rewind a few minutes.

Using Lord Albert’s teleportation magic, we warped near Yui’s house. Steeling ourselves, we rang her doorbell.

Ding-dong.

One second. Two seconds. Footsteps approached from inside.

"Helloo~! Who is it?"

Yui’s voice. It’d been so long since I’d heard it.

"Albert. I’ve brought someone to see you."

"Wait, Albert? Hold on a sec!"

The door swung open, and there she was. My nerves kicked in hard, even now.

Medium-length black hair. Slightly upturned eyes. Tall and slender for a woman. Since it was her day off, she wore a relaxed sweatsuit. Her beauty—once the talk of the office—hadn’t faded. If anything, her complexion and skin looked better than when we’d worked together. Guess her new job suits her. Glad she’s doing well.

"Long time no see, Albert!"

"Indeed. Got a moment?"

"Sure! Who’s this you wanted me to—"

Then her eyes landed on me. I wasn’t in my usual skimpy maid outfit but a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. I took a breath and spoke up.

"It’s been a while, Yui. It’s me… Aiba Yuuya."

"Huh? Wha—? Aiba? But… wait, are you Aiba’s little sister or something?"

Yeah, that tracks. Different gender, way younger-looking than the "me" she knew.

"No. It’s me. Aiba Yuuya. In the flesh."

"But… you’re a girl? And Aiba… died…?"

"I get why you’d doubt me. Let me explain how this happened."

I gave her the condensed version—how I met Lord Albert, everything since. When I hesitated over how to explain magic and demons, Albert cut in.

"Demons and magic are real. Here’s proof."

With a flick of his wrist, shimmering butterflies of red, blue, yellow, green, and violet swirled around him. Yui’s eyes nearly popped out of her skull.

"Was it okay to tell her?" I whispered.

"Yanagi Miyu is trustworthy. If not, I’ll erase her memory."

Chilling. But necessary.

Once I finished, Yui started trembling violently, her face hidden behind her bangs.

"I’m sorry for lying. But this was important to Yuuka," Albert said, bowing.

"I should’ve told you sooner," I added, bowing too. We waited for her response.

"...So, Yuuka… is Aiba? Which means…"

Her voice quivered. Then she snapped her head up—

"A TS CUTIE HAS ARRIVED!!"

"Huh…?"

And thus, we loop back to the beginning.

What followed was pure chaos. Yui’s energy skyrocketed, leaving Albert and me utterly shell-shocked.

"OHMYGOD! Yuka, you’re actually gorgeous! I knew Aiba was handsome, but THIS?! My professional eyes FAILED ME! Unforgivable! Wait—did you say Wife?! You DID! AHHH! A silver-haired demon king and a TS maid heroine?! STRAIGHT TO MY WEAKNESS! HOME RUN! THREE STRIKES! THIS IS PURE! IT’S ART! Do you know how many doujinshi this’ll spawn?! Can I debut it at Summer Comiket?! You’ll let me, right?! THANK YOU! BLESS YOUR EXISTENCE! No time to waste—gotta start drafting NOW! But I need to hear your romcom stories! How to—WAIT! I’LL JUST WORK WHILE YOU TALK! COME INSIDE! YOU’RE SPILLING EVERYTHING!"

Fun fact: Yui’s a hardcore otaku. She came out to me after we got close. A Comiket regular, she lives for stuff like this. Her specialty? Romance subplots—straight, BL, GL, gender-bend, anything. "Specialty", she calls it.

"...Yuka. Did Yanagi Miyu ingest poison? Her pupils are dilated, and her behavior is clearly aberrant."

"Sorry to say, but this is just Yui at peak performance."

"Good grief…"

The next half-hour? Let’s just say Yui owned the stage.
