"Lord Noct? Is something wrong?"

"Well, it's just..."

Noct fidgeted, clearly struggling to say something. What could it be? Did he need to use the bathroom?

"Aww! Noct's embawassed~! He thinks Yuka's so pwetty he can't talk pwoperly~!"

"Fufu. That's very kind of you. But please, don't hesitate—you can tell me anything."

"Uhh... S-So... um... c-carry me...?"

"Carry you?"

"Waaah! Noct's cheating! Yuka, me too~!"

They were both asking to be held, but was that alright? I glanced at Lord Minato and Lady Cecilia for confirmation. They smiled and nodded. Good enough. I knelt down and opened my arms.

"Then, Lord Noct, come here."

"...! Ehehe... Yuka... thank you."

"Heyyy! Yuka, I'm next, okay?!"

Noct seemed like the clingy type—or maybe that was just normal for kids his age? Marin was just as eager.

He inched forward cautiously before finally latching onto me with a soft plop.

"Ehehe..."

He nuzzled against me happily. So cute. Suddenly, Miyu's words flashed through my mind:

"There’s just something about boys clinging to you, y’know? Right? Riiight?"

Hmm. I could feel something maternal welling up inside me. So this is what she meant. Without thinking, I started stroking Noct’s head.

"Mmm... feels nice..."

"Yuka, me too~!"

"Of course, Lady Marin. Come here."

"Yay! Here I go~!"

Marin launched herself at me with full force, but catching a little kid was nothing I couldn’t handle.

"Ehehe~! Squeeze! And pet my head too~!"

"As you wish. There, there."

"Mmm~! So nice! More, more!"

"Me too... more..."

They both demanded attention at once. I obliged, holding and pampering them until they were satisfied.

Side note: If I ended up wanting kids after this, it’s not my fault. Marin and Noct were just too adorable. I’m blameless here! (...And if Luca’s lust magic felt stronger afterward, that was just my imagination.)

"Marin’s one thing, but Noct actually asking to be carried? That’s new~."

"Is it unusual?"

"Noct’s a total snugglebug, but he’s super shy around strangers. He clings to me, Mina, and Marin all the time, but this might be the first time he’s done it with someone else. Guess that means he really trusts you, Yuka."

"Does he not go to Lord Albert?"

"Mmm, it’s not that—"

Then I noticed Lady Cecilia staring pointedly at Lord Albert. Following her gaze, I understood immediately.

"You doing alright, Noct? You’ve gotten bigger. Up you go!"

"Ehehe~! I’m good, Uncle Al!"

"Al spoils him first, so Noct never has to ask. It’s just a given at this point."

"Fufu. How sweet."

A war against the Demon God Cult loomed ahead—but for now, the scene was almost too peaceful for what was to come.
