Interlude 1

At certain hospital in Tokyo, to be precise, in an underground facility of that hospital.

Inside a spotless bright white room with 4 square meters, a weary middle aged man wearing blue patient gown was strapped to sit at metal chair at the center of that room. His eyes were covered by black eye mask blindfold. He was still breathing, although very faint.

'Swish!'

From one end of the room, the walls parted like an automatic door. Wearing surgical masks, 2 women in nurse attires walked inside, each of them pushing a trolley desk filled with various medical equipment and tools. Followed behind them were 2 men in security staffs uniform, also wearing masks. After everyone was inside, the door was closed tightly again, resembling a normal wall.

"Who.... who's there....?"

The man on the chair mumbled quietly, half conscious. He couldn't move his body, of course, since all his limbs were strapped to the chair with leather belts. His vision was dark, his body felt sluggish like he was just in a very long sleep, and when he woke up, he heard several people walked around him without word. All bound to make him confused and startled.

The 4 individuals around him acted as if they didn't hear anything, all facing toward one direction, and bowed their bodies politely.

["You can begin now."]

It was unknown where that voice came from, but everyone straightened their postures and got in their positions. Meanwhile, the man on the chair grew more restless after he heard that voice.

"Begin what? Where is this? Hey! Umphfff!"

One security stood behind the man on the chair, holding a ball gag, and swiftly gagged his mouth and fastened the gag belt around his head. One of the nurse opened the upper part the man's patient gown around his chest.

The other security stood in front the man, on his right hand a gun muzzle was pointed to the man chest, while the other nurse stood beside him, loading an injection gun with a tube filled with green liquid substances.

Then without warning...

'DOR!'

"Hmppfffttt!"

.... a suppressed scream echoed in that enclosed space.

On the other side of the wall of that white room, a room that's filled with dozen of monitors displaying numerous statistical numerical data, and several staffs operating the systems.

Other than the staffs, there were also 2 people wearing white coats; a man and a woman, they stood in front of one way glass to the white room which was currently doing certain experiment. The man in white coat clenched his hand tightly, his veins bulged on his hand skin. Meanwhile beside him, the woman in white coat wrote something on her notebook in silence.

'Beeeeeeppp!'

"Human subject experiment No.5, every life signs ceased to exist. Experiment failed. Time of experiment: 25 minutes 32 seconds."

One of the staff that was monitoring the system declared after the long statis sound reverberated in that quiet monitor room.

The man in white coat turned around and left the room without any word. It was only after that man gone, the woman in white coat finished writing, she glanced to the floor where that man stood before.

On the marble floor, few drop of fresh blood were clearly visible where that man previously stood. The woman could only sighed and closed her notebook with a 'clap'.

"Thank you for everyone's hardwork. I'll leave the rest to you guys like usual."

"Copy that. Disposal group, you can come in now."

After making sure everything was in order, the woman in white coat also left the monitor room.

In a room that looked like an office, with ton of books scattered everywhere, the man in white coat laid on his back on the long sofa, covering his eyes with his arms, letting a long tired sigh.

'Knock! Knock!'

"Professor, I'm coming in."

There was a knock on the door and a woman's voice from the other side. Without waiting for answer from the man, the door was opened with a 'click', and the woman in white coat came in while holding a first aid kit box.

The man didn't respond and the woman didn't mind it much. Without even closing the door, she walked to the sofa where he was, knelt beside him and opened the first aid kit she brought.

"Professor, give me you hand."

"I'll patch it up myself later, just leave me—"

"Give. Me. Your. Hand."

"....."

Hearing the pressure in those each words, the man eventually caved in and gave the woman his hand to be treated.

When he opened his clenched hand, showing the woman his palm that was bleeding from being stabbed by his own nails, he could hear the shock in her breath. Because of that, he turned his head away, to avoid looking at each other as much as possible.

The woman picked up his reaction, so she began her treatment right away in silence, starting from cleaning the blood and disinfecting the wound.

"Seriously, just because we only need your head, it doesn't mean you can always hurt yourself everytime things don't go you ways."

"....."

"This time too. It's not your fault. He's a death row inmate. Even if he didn't die in today's experiment, he will die tomorrow as scheduled anyway. So, Professor, please don't mind him too much."

The woman gently wrapped the bandage around that man's hand. She's done treating his wounds, but her hand didn't leave his hand. She held his hand with both of her hands, conveyed her feeling through this skin contact.

".... I understand. Thank you."

Finally got a response she waited for, the woman beamed with a radiant smile. She retracted her hand as she stood up and skipped over to the pantry in the office.

"I'll go make some tea and bring a snack, so Professor, please clean up your mess and set up the table."

If the woman had tail, it would be swaying left and right with how lively she became as she opened the drawer humming and searching for the tea sets.

The man, though a bit reluctant, got up from the sofa and started picking up the scattered books on the floor, putting them back on the shelves and cleaned up the table.

Not long after, the woman returned holding a tray filled with 2 cup of tea and a plate of cookies. Both of them sat on the sofa, side by side, each holding their own cup and quietly sipped the tea.

"Haaah~ so calming."

"Hehe, I was experimenting with the ratio a bit, but I'm glad you like it, Professor."

".... Thank you. For many things."

"Just make sure to put some good words about me to the higher ups after this research's success."

She said lightly, putting down her cup on the saucer and took a cookie on the plate and ate it. "Hmm, yummy~"

Meanwhile, the man became quiet. He lowered his cup to his lap, watching his reflection the tea surface, seemingly deep in thought.

"...Success.... huh?"

"Professor?"

"Can we even make it a 'success' in the first place?"

"What do you mean by that?"

The woman hand that was about to pick another cookie stopped and retracted. Her voice shifted into a more serious tone. While the man just stared blanky at his reflection on the cup.

"The true purpose of this experiment, this research, in itself is basically humanity trying to encroach the authority of God. When you think about it again, this whole thing is just impossible, isn't it?"

"But! But it DID work, didn't it? The Subject Zero, that kid back then, the serum worked perfectly on him. So it means, it wasn't totally impossible. We're just missing something in the equation, that's why we're doing these experiments. As long we can determine the root cause and fix it, this research will surely—"

"How long do you think it will take? How many more lives must be sacrificed to find it?!"

"Professor....."

"..... I'm sorry. I lost my composure."

"Don't worry, I understand. To be honest, I also don't like our current situation like we're trying to find a way out through a dark maze with matchsticks."

"....."

"So Professor, I have suggestion. Will you hear me out?"

"Suggestion?"

"Subject Zero. How about we capture him?"

".....?"

The man slowly turned his head to the woman, with an expression that could be translated as 'Did you hit your head or something?'

"D-Don't look at me like I'm crazy! I'm serious right now!"

"No, it's crazier if you're truly serious. Boss strictly forbid us from involving innocent bystander in this research. You know well you're risking not only our necks in this insane suggestion of yours."

The woman stood up and snapped.

"Then what else could we do?! He's the only one which the serum worked on. He's our only lead that this whole research wasn't impossible!"

"My answer is still no. We can't involve a bystander."

"Bystander this, bystander that. If anything, the moment you injected him with the serum that night, he's no longer just a bystander!"

"Are you telling me that I shouldn't had done anything in that situation?!"

The woman presented more and more reason to involve the Subject Zero, while the man opposed her idea with vehement objections.

"Ahem! As much as it's an entertaining scene to see, how about you two calm down for now?"

""?!?!""

Their argument heated to the point they didn't realize someone was by standing by the door, at least up to the point where he coughed and interrupted their fight.

Both the man and woman turned their head to the voice source with broken neck movement, and color instantly drained from their face.

At the door, there's a man in black neat suit with his arms folded in front of him.

"Yo-Young Master, since when you're there...?"

The woman in white coat was totally frozen, in and out, so it's fell to the Professor to ask the most important question.

The man by the door smiled with closed eyes.

"Just a reminder, the office might be soundproof, but only if the door is closed properly."

Cold sweat was raining down their back when they heard his comment. Especially so for the woman in white coat. She grimaced hard when she realized it's her fault for not closing the door when she went in.

"I believe you two know what's the best course of action now, don't you?"

The man stepped inside the office, closed the door behind him, a 'click' sound resounded loud in the quiet room. He slowly opened his eyes without removing the smile from his face. A pair of green eyes gleamed with mysterious intent as he opened his mouth.

"You will tell me more about this so called Subject-Zero, will you?"

It was at this moment, where the man and woman in white coat thought the same thing in their heart.

'We're dead.'

In one dead of the night, several firetrucks and dozen of firefighters were doing their job to extinguish a fire on a building.

However the focus this time wasn't the fire itself, but on top of the building across the burned building, a blue haired man leaned on the railing of the rooftop of the building, watching how the firefighters finally put off the fire.

He took out a phone from his pocked and dialed a number. Not long after he put the phone to his ear, the call connected and he straightly asked.

"Senpai, do you know any yōkai that has connection with wedding?"

["Eh, wedding? That came out of nowhere. Shion, did something happen back there?"]

A female voice came from the other end of the call. The blue haired man sight had never left the building across him, his golden colored eyes focused at certain floor of that building, his mind was back to half hour before.

In a dark messy office room, where the only source of light was the moonlight that came from the window, Shion was leaning against the window, playing around with his phone.

In front of him laid on the floor, a humaniod-like creature 2 times a size of an adult human, it's whole body was black with dozen of eyes all-over various parts of its body, and several of those eyes secreted tears-like purple liquids that dirtied the ceramic floors.

The creature struggled and tried to crawl away, but then a golden threads appeared from thin air and wrapped around its body, locking its movement.

"Don't try to run. I won't hurt you. I'm just waiting for someone. We have some many questions we want to ask you. Especially, about why a Hyakume like you behaved in such a strange way these past few days?"

Hyakume generally supposed to be a good and harmless yōkai. They lived around abandoned shrine or buildings and only would show themselves to scare away people with bad intention that came to those place where they lived.

However lately, several accidents happened like car crashes and people fall from the stairs these few days. All the victims involved in these accidents claimed that they were startled by an eyeball suddenly appearing in front of them.

One thing led to another, investigations were carried out, and Shion and one other person was dispatched to capture the prime suspect of these events.

Long story short, when they found the Hyakume, it panicked and ran away the moment it saw them. Shion left the other person behind to chase after the Hyakume who–for unknown reason–ran to this building.

There were a bit of struggle where it destroyed several desks and computer in the office, but other than that, Shion eventually subdued it with his golden threads. Now it was captured, the only thing left to do was to interrogate it.

However, Hyakume is a yōkai without mouth, in other word, it can't communicate. That's why Shion was waiting for the other person to arrive, since that person were the only one with telepathic ability and able to communicate with this kind of mute yōkai.

While waiting for his partner, Shion looked at the screen of his phone, reading the report he got from other cases.

".....foRrr Brid–.... aLL fORrrr...."

"?!! It.... it talks?!"

Shion full attention shifted to the Hyakume on the floor who still struggled trying to get out of the binding. His head was filled with confusion and bad feeling.

Hyakume is a humaniod lump of mass with many eyes all over its body. It doesn't have vocal organ that could produce sound.

'So how could it talk?'

Shion got a feeling something will happen, but he couldn't hold his curiosity to walk closer and checked how the Hyakume could talk. And what he saw next gave him goosebumps all over his body.

From every corner of the countless eyes on its body, blood-like purple liquids streaming down, pooling on the floor.

One of the eye, on body part that could be considered its neck, one eye was split right in the middle horizontally. The upper and bottom cut curled in make it seemed like a lips. From inside that eye flesh, bone shaped like teeth formed, and little by litte that eye transformed into something similar to mouth.

"What the....?"

Shion lost his word. All he used to capture it was just a normal binding spell. It shouldn't hurt any yōkai other than restricted their movement. So for the Hyakume now to be laying on a pool of its own blood and some strange transformation happened to its body, Shion totally had no idea what was happening now.

"–de.... hAs.... woKEn uP...."

"....."

Shion stepped back slowly. The uneasy feeling kept growing within him.

"....fOr..... BriDE!!"

"It said what?"

One by one, the eyes on Hyakume body emitted a bright purple light, illuminating the entire dark office with its purple glow. The whole Hyakume's body had basically become a shining purple lamp post where all of its eyes were light bulbs

Shion eventually stood against the window, have no more space left to step back.

"ALL FOR THE BRIDE!"

"Crap!"

With that clear last cry, the Hyakume shone even brighter. Following his instinct, Shion opened the window and jumped straight from the 5th floor.

'BOOOOMMM!!'

Not long after Shion jumped, the Hyakume exploded. Its dark meat and purple liquid scattered all over the office.

Those remains after a while suddenly burned in purple flame, and since it was basically everywhere, the office quickly engulfed in fire and it spread to the whole floor.

Shion stood in front of the building while dusting his jacket. He looked at the floor he was before that was now burned in fire, and he could hear the fire alarm going off.

His mind was trying to search for a specific memory. The phrase the Hyakume uttered back there, he's sure he heard it somewhere not long ago.

It was a week ago, where Shion and several combatants were dispatched to deal with a rouge berserking yōkai.

It was a Nogitsune. This yōkai was known for being mischievous, and sometimes like to play trick or prank to human, a very rare case it could lead to death to its victim.

But this Nogitsune they're after, it had killed a bunch of people.

Long story short, they managed to kill it after one prolonged battle. There was no casualties one their side, but some of their people must be hospitalized for a few weeks at very least to recover.

Anyway, the Nogitsune—for some reason its body has grown big like 3 meter tall when it stood on its feet—were laying on the ground on its dying breath. Very slowly, its body were engulfed in flame as Shion stood in front the Nogitsune's head

His golden eyes shone as he scanned the body, trying to analyze or at least find a clue of its gigantism to this extent.

"I've.... done..... it...."

"It's still alive?"

Shion was a little surprised when the Nogitsune suddenly talked, but when he saw its eyes were already blurred with no light, he though it's just some unconscious last speech.

"All.... for.... the Bride..."

After saying it, the flame finally engulfed its whole body and the Nogitsune's body burned to ashes in span of seconds.

Return to the rooftop of opposite building from the burned building, Shion remembered the memory from last week with the Nogitsune.

Back then he didn't think much about what it said on its last moment, but now after the thing that happened with the Hyakume, Shion believed there was a connection.

Both are related to this thing called 'The Bride'.

So he told everything from this Hyakume incident and and Nogitsune accident last week to this 'Senpai' on the other side of the call, along with his suspicion of this so called 'Bride'.

["Hmm, it doesn't ring a bell. But well, since this is coming from you, I'll pass on a message to the investigation unit for them to look into it. Good job for this mission. You're free to go home now, I'll take care of the documents for this case."]

"Really? Thank you, Senpai!"

["Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I'll hang up now. Tell Chiaki-chan too that she's dismissed for today."]

'Click!'

"You heard that right, Chiaki?"

Shion put his phone back to his pocket and turned around to a black haired woman walking to him with irritated expression. She stood in front of Shion and without hesitation kick him hard on his shin.

"Ughhh!"

Shion groaned and fell to his knees, holding his throbbing shin.

"What was that for....?"

"That's for leaving me behind. There's no more taxi at this hour, so I must run all the way here from the previous city. I'm just a support unit, not a combatant like you damn it! And when I arrived, you tell me the reason for me being included in this mission was already over. Yeah, go figure 'what was that for', you bastard!"

"...aha ha ha, sorry? It was also outside my control that things become like this. Look, how about this? I'll do whaterver you want, just forgive me this once, Chiaki."

Shion knew he couldn't argue with the angry woman before him, so the best course of action he could do was trying to appease her, while still kneeling in front of her.

"W-Whatever I want....?"

For some reason, her cheeks reddened when she repeated it. Then she shook her head violently.

Shion looked at her with amusement, until she opened her arms wide with slightly blushing face.

"Then take responsibility and carry me home. My feet hurts from all this running you made me."

"Sure do, Your Highness."

Shion smiled and stood in front Chiaki, then scooped her light body in princess carry. While carrying a woman in his arms, Shion walked to the edge of the rooftop and get ready.

Chiaki felt a bad premonition with where Shion headed to.

"Wait a minute! Don't tell me, you're going to—"

"Be careful not to bite your tongue."

"Shion, you— KYAAAAA! SHION-NO-BAKA!"

"Ahahahaha."

Both of them disappeared in the darkness of the night after Shion without warning jumped straight from the rooftop.

At the Ryuusei Shrine at night. The shrine that was surrounded by forest, with no sign of human, a peaceful atmosphere with only little noise from night insect, amplified the serene feel of the shrine.

On top of the last torii of the shrine staircases, someone sat on it while watching the cityscape with far away gaze.

She's a woman with ethereal beauty.

Her long white hair flowed softly blowed by the night breeze. Her loose white kimono that showed her snow-colored collarbone and a great portion of her upper assets. A pair of big pointed white furry ears on top of her head that sometime twitched when hit by the wind. With her long and dainty fingers, she's holding a golden kiseru with her right hand.

She didn't do anything, just sitting on top the torii, sipped the kiseru and blowed out a faint white smoke from her peachy lips. She's pretty much just a woman enjoying the night.

At least until the air behind her glitched with small distortion, and a big white hole opened in place of the glitch.

A blonde woman with golden eyes came out of the white hole, wearing pure white dress with golden accents here and there.

Once she's fully out of the portal and floated on the air, the white hole closed instantly, returning the tranquility to the shrine surroundings.

The fox ears of the white haired woman on top of the torii twitched.

"This presence.... Shiela, huh? Do you have business with this old me?"

Without turning her head, the white haired woman asked, her eyes still focused to the scenery of Ryuuseimachi at night.

The blonde haired woman, Shiela, the goddess of another world Myurelia. She floated closer to the white haired woman. She opened her right hand and from thin air a big white harisen appeared and quickly grabbed by Shiela in tight grip.

Shiela took a stance and....

'PLAKK!'

With a swing full of resentment, Shiela smacked the white haired woman on the back of her head.

"Hahahaha, that's one hell of a power in that swing."

Not even bothered that much, the white haired woman rubbed the back of her head with her left hand without looking back.

Shiela let a long exhausted sigh, the harisen in her hand scattered into light particles and vanished. When she looked to the back of the white haired woman, she was patting the spot on her left.

"Come and sit with me, Shiela."

Shiela floated closer and then proceeded to sit beside her. "Senpai–whoa!"

Shiela barely sat down and yelped, when the white haired woman pulled her into laying position with her knees as the pillow.

When she opened her eyes, in front of her face, she was met with divine scenery of twin snowy mountains that almost spilled out of the white kimono, and an exquisitely beautiful face that was too much for her heart.

"You like what you see, my cute Shiela?"

Shiela was stunned with the beautiful view, until the woman question brought her mind back to her body. Blush appeared on her pristine face after being caught staring.

She turned her blushing face to the side to avoid looking at that smug grin on that woman's face. "You're so sly, Senpai," while muttering under her breath.

"Well, I'm a fox after all."

With that big foxy ears attached, of course the woman heard what Shiela said clearly. Shiela pouted, not liking how easily this woman toyed with her.

The fox woman actually want to tease her more, but looking at that soft bulging cheek of the girl on her lap, she decided to hold on for today. She set aside the kiseru on her right hand and used that hand to pat Shiela's blonde head gently.

"My cute Shiela—"

"Stop calling me cute."

She complained for being called "cute", but didn't deny being referred with "my" in her name or being patted on the head. It reflected just how close and intimate their relationship is.

"Alright, alright. My beautiful Shiela then. What is it that made you so angry at me? Did I do something wrong?"

"It's.... it's not directly your fault. But rather,... the one you recommended before?"

"Recommended?"

Shiela recounted everything she went through after the summoning event last week.

She was so busy dealing with the reports to the higher Gods. Because the kid finished the mission in speedrun and out-of-the-box methods, it made making the reports incredibly hard, with so many unbelievable contents that even she herself find it hard to believe. It took her the full weekends just to convince the higher Gods that everything she wrote in the reports were real and authentic.

After long and sanity-draining report, the higher Gods finally accepted her report and gave her a small vacation for her trouble. Shiela directly used the vacation and came to this world to vent her frustration to the one who started the problem.

"Seriously, what is wrong with that kid?! The fact that she returned before I could fix her body is also a problem!"

"So you're coming to this world is also to fix her body?"

"That's my plan."

"Can you not?"

"....Senpai?"

Confused by the fox woman sudden request, Shiela turned her head to look at her (although it's a little obstructed by the twin mountains)

"I recommended that kid to you, with full expectation that he would return as a girl. So I can't have you go and fix it now."

"What does that even mean— wait, don't tell me...."

Shiela's golden eyes gleamed as she stared into the distance. It was indicator that she used her clairvoyance ability to see a specific house. A few second later, she blinked and her eyes returned to normal. She looked at the fox woman with indescribable face.

"Senpai, what did you do?"

"For the record, I only involved in one case. The others wasn't me."

"Don't change the subject! What's the deal with that family for you to put your sight on them?!"

"....."

The fox woman didn't answer immediately. Hesitation was apparent on her face.

"Seina-senpai."

Shiela didn't know what could make this fox woman hesitate so much, but her woman instinct told her that she wasn't going to like whatever it was about.

Meanwhile the fox lady's eyes trembled when Shiela called her by her name. She eventually sighed and opened her mouth to answer.

"They are Ayaka's family."

'Swosh!'

Shiela instantly got up to sitting position and crawled back , away from Seina with scared expression.

"A-Ayaka? You mean that Ayaka? Seriously THAT Ayaka?"

"How many 'Ayaka' do we both know?"

"I see. Now it's understandable why that kid just pretty much a monster outside of logic back then."

"....."

"Senpai, if any higher Gods catch a wind of this, you will not be left off with just any normal punishment, you know that right?"

".... I know."

"Alright. I promise you I will not say a word about this to anyone. So make sure you're not leaving any noticeable evidence."

"Thank you, Shiela."

Getting Seina silent promise, Shiela relaxed her expression. She scooted closer and returned to sit beside Seina, shoulder to shoulder.

"Since you already went this far, I know whatever I say won't make you reconsider. So, Senpai..."

Sheila took Seina's left hand and interconnected their fingers as she leaned her head to Seina's shoulder.

"********"

That was a quiet almost inaudible request that faded with the night wind. Both of them looked straight ahead, to the cityscape of Ryuuseimachi with gazes that hold hundred emotions in each of them.

After a while, Seina finally put some strength to her left hand to reciprocate Sheila's feeling.

Shiela's feeling right now was quite complicated, that she just ended up chuckled.

"I wonder why did fall for such a crazy Goddess like you."

"I'm sorry. I love you, Shiela."

"You're so sly, Senpai."

There's no more sound between them. Only a gentle night breeze and ever-tightening lover's grip between the two Goddess.

Greetings, My Mother and Father in heaven.

How are you up there? For me, I'm as healthy as ever. Well, not exactly 'as ever' though, since my previous body was very sickly and fragile.

What do I mean with 'previous body' you ask? Well, it's a bit complicated. But yeah, let's go with the short version, I'm sorry to say that the body you two created for me with great efforts had met its end.

In other word, I, a sickly adult son of yours, had peacefully died.

Now to the next part about me being 'healthy'. Somehow, for an unknown reason, when I opened my eyes again after my heart stopped functioning on the hospital bed, I found myself sat in backrow seat in an afternoon class.

I didn't know if this is considered reincarnation, possession or transmigration, but all I knew was that I live again.

There's some pluses and minuses with this body though.

One of the plus was this body is very healthy. It is incomparable to my previous body that would fall at the drop of heart rate and vomitted blood at slightly strenuous workout.

Another plus was the relationship this body have. The parents of this body is still alive–unlike you two who died when I was still a kid–and they love the original owner very much. Now that I live inside this body, I also love them very much too.

Ah, don't get me wrong. I still love you two despite everything, it's just, please forgive this unfilial child of yours who must divide the parental love I have toward you two.

The memory contained in this body is also intact and very clear, so it saved me the trouble of pretending to be amnesiac. It only took me 2 to 3 days to get adjusted and live as Nonohana Nanoha perfectly.

I avoided talking about it as best as I could, but you probably already expected this and hearing that super feminine name must have solidified it even further so here we go.

One of the minuses was that I lost my buddy down there and lived as a girl in this life.

From a subjective viewpoint, as a girl I considered myself a beauty. If only I was still a male, I would definitely want to date me.

Enough about that, let me talk about my day at school right now. It was a beautiful day as usual. Our class was doing three-legged race as our PE class activity.

And do you know who my partner is?

"Nanoha-chan, would you partner up with me?"

Just when I thought I could sit this one out since our class has odd numbers of students, the most popular girl in the class, Mizuno Yuuki-chan, suddenly talked to me.

In all honesty, rather than feeling happy, I felt despair inside. Since it was her who extended the invitation, one would think I had the choice to accept or reject it if I didn't want to pair with her.

But in reality, the choice for me was only to accept. Not because I really wanted to pair up with her, but god I feared my future in this class if I were to reject this sunshine's invitation in front of everyone's gazes.

There's also another reason for my despair other than that.

"Let's do our best, Nanoha-chan!"

So far I only said one minus yet, right? Now to the second and most fatal minus in this new life I have.

Standing beside her shoulder-to-shoulder after I tied our feet together, I looked at her from the side and once again confirmed without fail. That she's indeed, Mizuno Yuuki, one of the protagonists of this world.

Why did I say something like 'protagonists of this world'?

Well, because the world I live in now, is a world inside the novel I had read in my previous life. It was, well, to say the least, a 'unique' kind of novel.

A novel with 7 main protagonists with each individual plots and various genres smashed together.

From the residents of this world perspectives, this world might be the kind of peaceful world with no conflict whatsoever. But as someone who had read the novel, I know just how murky the darkness behind each protagonist's plot. It was so far from the definition of 'peaceful'.

Alright, I've been circling around for a while, so let me get to the point now.

I'm not anyone special. I don't have any cheats like those in isekai reincarnation story. I might have healthy body, but strictly speaking, I'm just an NPC, through and through.

"For the 5 pairs I call, please get in line!"

The PE teacher shouted and start calling several names to come up to the track line.

"Are you ready, Nanoha-chan?"

I'm an NPC, but as a reader who read the novel, I know the future plot of this world.

So, Mother and Father in heaven.

At this rate, I think I will join you two very soon.
